I am extremely disappointed. I would give this product zero stars if it allowed. I have used this exact product many times before – even on the same jewelry – but when I opened a new container and placed a couple of rings and earrings in and used as directed, my jewelry was ruined. As stated, I’ve used this product on these same pieces of jewelry many times. However, this time resulted in multiple stones falling out of my rings and left them with an erosive appearance. My jewelry is no longer wearable, and I had to dump the cleaner out even though it was my first time using it! GREAT product, the best for small silver objects (not large plates) whatever will fit into the container, tarnish will disappear from any object in about 3 seconds, cannot use with delicate materials though like lacquered or dyed polished opal or pearls or glazed precious stones because it will take the lacquer and dye off. The container says not to use for gold but I have good luck with solid gold also, best to use the gold cleaner they make for that. The fluid does collect dirt over time; one container will work for hundreds of uses over a year's time. I replace mine about once/year.abetterplace

Oh my gosh I cannot say enough good things about this product. I had a couple pieces of Tiffany's jewelry that got extremely dirty to the point where I wouldn't even wear them anymore. I made the mistake of storing them with some other low quality necklaces and it just completely ruined them (or so I thought). I tried polishing them with a lint free polishing cloth, but it didn't help. …and then I found this stuff! I purchased at a local Walmart for only (don't quote me on this) $7 or $8. I wasn't very hopeful because I was convinced that I ruined my jewelry. The packaging is wonderful and extremely convenient to use. Inside the plastic jar, there is a stick like mechanism in the center and when you pull it up it is surrounded by a tray with very fine holes so your jewelry can't fall through. You lift ip the tray and place your jewelry on it,then you lower the tray/jewelry into the solution. Since I had some very dingy looking jewelry, I left it in the solution for the maximum amount of time (10 seconds). I removed it from the tray with a lint free wipe (made by red carpet manicure) that are actually intended to use for nail polish remover. I then wiped the jewelry clean of the solution. I literally watched a dirty, unwearable and slightly tarnished piece of jewelry turn into a beautifully polished and clean piece that I couldn't wait to wear again! I quickly grabbed all my other sterling silver pieces so I could "restore" them back to their original beauty:) That being said, I highly recommend this product to anyone who has some sterling silver laying around that needs a good cleaning. The number one thing about this silver jewelry cleaner is that it does not over strip the silver and sterling pieces I cleaned with it. I have had cleaners so strong, the scent would be overwhelming and the silver would be stripped completely of any desirable patina such as intentionally oxidized shadowing. I love the little basket that cradles your jewelry while it cleans in only a minute. I tried this on some very tarnished pieces that required a minute more to really clean, but they were not overly cleaned. The directions say to rinse off and dry the pieces, but I found that with tepid water and a little dish soap, tumbled in my hands got the shine a bit higher. I blotted the pieces dry and then buffed them with a microfiber cloth. This cleaner is best used for maintenance cleaning, done every few months to keep the jewelry looking its best. Silver that is let go for too long will start to pit and may not be able to recover. So regular cleaning is recommend. This was my second time purchasing this cleaner for my diamonds. Realistically, I suppose an old toothbrush and dish soap (or maybe toothpaste)? BUT… I like that this is all in one unit and I don't have to hunt down extra supplies. I hadn't noticed how dully diamonds were getting, nor had I noticed the buildup of hand lotion beneath the stones. This cleaned everything and I couldn't BELIEVE how sparkly they were when I was done. Take the cap off, run water over the brush end, and twist the base to push the cleaner up. I also rinsed my rings. Then I used the brush to scrub under and around the diamonds. Then I rinsed and dried my rings. I also rinsed the brush off and put the cap back on. OK so I read the reviews before purchasing and I knew it didn't get the best, however I was desperate to clean my rings so I figured, worst case scenario if it doesn't work, I'll return it and splurge on something better. I did a couple of things differently that really made this product WORK. First, I spread the cleaner over the rings (engagement ring and wedding bands) and rather than immediately wiping/cleaning the rings, I let it sit in the cleaner for 10-15 minutes. Not sure if that's good for the rings or not but my rings turned out SPARKLING. Then, rather than using the brush to clean the rings, I used a dry, soft wash cloth to wipe off the tarnish/dirt and then washed the rings off. Honestly, I'm giving it 4/5 because it doesn't say to do either of these things and I think that's why everyone is giving this product bad reviews. For $9, I personally think it's worth it! My rings look brand new, you just have to let the cleaner do it's thing for 10-15 minutes and then wipe it off with something better than that brush they give you. I'd definitely recommend this!LD
What a waste of money. What a friggin’ WASTE! This stuff does not work. At all. The photos I have attached show two rings I’ve tried to clean today. The malachite ring went through the cleaning process twice. The claddagh went through three times. Both rings are 925 sterling silver. So, you tell me… this stuff work? I bought this thinking that it was a new and improved version of the classic tarnish removing solution, which I don't like using because of the smell. The packaging says that your jewelry will sparkle like new, and I erroneously believed that included tarnished jewelry. I even let my most tarnished pieces sit in the solution for an hour to give it the best shot. What it really is is jewelry specific soap, and while it seemed to do a good job cleaning grime off my jewelry it doesn't make a difference when you have sparkling gems on tarnished metal. This is nothing like as efficient as the silver dip I remember from 40 years ago. It did remove slight yellow tarnishing from some jewellery findings after 4 minutes but some more heavily tarnished items were left in the solution for 2 hours; whilst it did not damage them it did not remove the tarnish to an acceptable standard and I had to get out a silver polish to finish the job.1995jayne

I am extremely disappointed. I would give this product zero stars if it allowed. I have used this exact product many times before – even on the same jewelry – but when I opened a new container and placed a couple of rings and earrings in and used as directed, my jewelry was ruined. As stated, I’ve used this product on these same pieces of jewelry many times. However, this time resulted in multiple stones falling out of my rings and left them with an erosive appearance. My jewelry is no longer wearable, and I had to dump the cleaner out even though it was my first time using it! Not only did it ruin my precious jewelry, but I realized that the one I was sent didn’t even have the brush that is supposed to come with it! I will never buy this product again. GREAT product, the best for small silver objects (not large plates) whatever will fit into the container, tarnish will disappear from any object in about 3 seconds, cannot use with delicate materials though like lacquered or dyed polished opal or pearls or glazed precious stones because it will take the lacquer and dye off. The container says not to use for gold but I have good luck with solid gold also, best to use the gold cleaner they make for that. The fluid does collect dirt over time; one container will work for hundreds of uses over a year's time. I replace mine about once/year.abetterplace

That smell indicates the cleaner is working. Yes, it is a gross smell, but the more tarnished your silver jewelry is, the more the cleaner is going to smell. That means it is working. I have another silver jewelry cleaner that has no odor to it at all, and it doesn’t even begin to clean my sterling silver jewelry. This is a great cleaner. I hate dirty jewelry with a passion. I have never been able to clean any jewelry well other than precious or "real" things. This cleaner is perfect and works on almost everything! My 10K gold 35 year old high school ring with intentional oxidation and a nice but not authentic Alexandrite looks brand new. It works on watch straps of stainless steel and anything else if well made. I am trying it still with success on all costume jewelry unless it is so poorly made or something with a poor coating. It so works perfectly on colored gold including colors of 14K that I have been afraid to use with the Precious cleaner for fear of stripping. I highly recommend Lux and am about to order 3 more as I just went through a whole bottle in a few days. It does not last as stated but you can clean quite a few things at a time. I have not even gotten to most of my old costume jewelry . I had given up on trying to clean it. Lux will clean precious jewelry instantly. It is not abrasive to hands-a bit drying if overused as I did:) It does not do deep or heavily tarnished jewelry. Try Precious for that. This is a GREAT product! I have used it on all my jewelry, including my turquoise, and it does a superb job of cleaning. Someone said it turned their Judith Ripka jewelry black, well I used it on my Judith Ripka bracelets and they haven't looked this good since they came out of the box! My gold bracelets look brand new, and I never thought they were dirty until I cleaned them. My costume jewelry looks brand new, too. My first order lasted a year, but I don't think this order will last as long because I love the way freshly cleaned jewelry looks!
