This was purchased to be played with to enjoy opening and closing watching the dancing unicorn perform to somewhere over the rainbow. The unicorn is impressive as is the music. There isnt much storage space, but enough for whatever that precious girl decides shed like to put in her new little box and carry around. The board the box is made of is not flimsy. This is my first Website review. I bought this for my niece but we decided she is too young for it, so I kept it for myself. I love ballet and Swan Lake. I was looking for something different to get 2 of my Great Granddaughters for Christmas this year when i saw these that was it. I ordered 2 and when they arrived i couldn't have been happier they are perfect has a top tray and then a drawer to put jewelry in and the music is awesome. I ordered 4 different JewelKeeper Mermaid Musical Jewelry Boxes and they all work perfectly, are so sweet and sound pretty good! The quality is very nice and simple and great for the price! I also included a matching necklace for each of the little music boxes…ie. ballerinas, mermaid and fairy pendant necklaces from Websites store…..very inexpensive and affordable! I placed the pendant necklaces inside a tiny gift box and organza bag….and then, set them inside the music boxes. This is a nicely built wooden box. However, the little ballerina did not turn nor the music play. I called and a replacement was promptly sent out. This second box had a twirling ballerina, complete with music, but the mirror was defective. It looked scratched; however, upon closer inspection I found the mirror was actually warped plastic! For such a well constructed box, it is a shame such cheap "mirrored" material and musical mechanism was used.Joyce

I bought this jewelry box for my 3 year old grand daughter. I was very excited to get a Mele at such a reasonable price. The problem with the box was the paper overlay. It was not put on correctly and resulted in two large bubbles on the front of the box. I really liked the box because of the sturdy construction that could stand up to a 3 year old, the music was very nice, (sound wise, etc.). The knob to turn the music is easy enough for a 3 year old to turn. I loved the overall appearance, music and size but the damage to the overlay was very disappointiing. Since I was giving this as a birthday present, I did not have time to return it and don't feel I would have neccesarily gotten one without this small defect. I also kept it since it was going to a 3 year old and I don't think she will notice the bubbles. I hope her mother, my daughter in law doesn't notice it. Don't know if I would recommend this product because of the overlay damage and the fact that it wasn't perfect quality. […]Grammy

I usually read about items before making purchases but for some reason I didn’t read these reviews and didn’t see that it’s made of plastic. Like others said it may last a year or a little longer if you take care of it, but my little girl moves her things around a lot and will probably have this stuffed with Barbie clothes, using it for their dresser. It won’t last. If you’re just looking for a cute place to store a few pieces of jewelry and it won’t get used daily- this will do! I bought this jewelry box for my daughter's six birthday. She loves it!! It is adorable and exactly what she wanted. Unfortunately the very first time we closed the lid after removing the protective cover on the mirror, the spinning fairy scratched it with her wing.
