This is one of the best filters I've used and I've been using this brand for years. Vitacost has great pricing as well. Recently they upgraded the filter media and it now filters arsenic. The water tastes great and it does last a year without issue. My only gripe is the newer filter's plastic housing seems delicate. Last year's was damaged during shipping. This year's the part with the washer on it was damaged. Maybe it was random but I never had an issue with the construction of the older filters. This is what is keeping it from a 5/5. I have owned the counter top 10 stage water filter since 2018. I first purchased it due to the claims in water purification ability, the specific 10 stage design, and reasonable price considering what other quality filtration systems can run. The first and second filters met full expectations filtering a very hard water supply into a very crisp and clear enjoyable glass of water. However, when i purchased a third filter it arrived and was not what one expected. In the box with the filter was a letter explaining that new wave has collaborated with BWT Barrier and designed a new filter cartridge that addresses current water issues. The problem with this new cartridge is it now seems as though New Wave Enviro is now making false claims. When examined the inside of this new cartridge is not constructed with 10 stages, it does not even have a total of five stages. It seems to me also that the filtration quality has lessened. A friend of mine convinced me to test my tap-filter water. He tought it tasted funny. I've been ok with it, but I listened and did the test. I was suprised, but the Coliform level was too high! So, I bought myself a regular 3-stage filter, did the test agaim. It was lower, but still too high for comfort.
