I've got a large house and more children than most. This unit produces sufficient hot water to run several showers at once and never run out, which is the main point. I'm very pleased with this unit. There's one oddity however; When first starting-up, the water temperature gradually increases until the set-point arrives at the delivery spot and holds there for a few moments, then the temperature wanes to lukewarm/cool, then back to specified temperature. This can be quite a jolt to the system if the user isn't prepared 🙂 But the change is gradual enough to get out of the way in time. This is annoying. The display alternates between my chosen set point "130 F" and "E5", which I assume is an error code. But none of the online documentation provides an error code key from which to ascertain the issue. I have two three-way valves in my installation which allows me to run my system in tankless only, tank only, or tankless preheat followed by tank. In the summer I run tankless only, in winter I typically run tankless as preheat and draw from the tank unit.Engineer Dude
i had it professionally installed and its keeps popping a fuse and stops working all the time . i think it finally completely failed after 1 years of use only and 900 later. i home RHEEM will send me replacement as its under warranty. but seems liek its one of the worse ones to have. all bad ratings. i would like to upgrade to a better one.asta

It works fine, but it arrived in a shipping box with no manufactruer box inside, just the water heater. One of the dials has come lose and I had to screw it back on. There was no manual. There was no power cord, but it may not have come with one ( I couldn’t tell you since I didn’t get a box or a manual). There was water inside the unit. I think someone must have gotten it before me and then returned it and factory pure didn’t notice- that or the falsely sold me a used unit. I went ahead and installed it, though, because I had already opened up my water line and removed the old unit. If anyone from factory pure is reading this, I’ll forgive you for a fifty dollar partial refund- that’s about what I’d have expected to save by buying used.cade j.
As for the breaker tripping in other homes, as a licensed electrician of 26 years, I would advise you to take an amperage reading during operation. Most home owners do not have multi meters with an amp clamp so that could be difficult I understand. If the heater is not drawing over 55 amp during operation you may have a defective circuit breaker, it happens. Try replacing your breaker. If the heater is drawing over 55 amps ther is a problem with the heater.Andy A.

200 amp service. This thing pulling 66 amps . Heat pump pulling 90 amps . If wife cooks, cleans and drys cloths, I think it wont work. Lights dim now with heat pump on and water heater on. Like all of the 1 star ratings, my unit failed after about a year. It began leaking which caused it to short out. When I called the customer service, they asked for pictures of the leak and the heating elements. They immediately blamed the leak on me for not maintaining the unit. After I prove I did they asked me to send a video of the unit tripping the breaker which made no sense considering the unit was leaking water. In the end they recommended I re-solder the hole. Really?! So, for the sake of having hot water in the middle of winter, I do. Nine months later another hole appears and the exact same issue occurs. This time I demand a replacement after once again being blamed for the issue. After they run out of excuses on why it happened they then say I never registered my warranty, which I did. How in the world do I prove that I registered my warranty when the same people I registered it with claims I didn't? This product has NO support if and when it fails. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Buy a better unit for a little more money AND keep all of the warranty information just in case.Andre'
To use this unit you will need to have an electrician bring in 3 high voltage lines into your home. $$$$. Any time you use the unit all the lights in the house flicker. After months of that annoyance I contacted dealer and was given a new control panel that I had to install myself. It solved the problem for a couple months then back to the flickering. Two years later the unit just stopped working. Plumbing service call told me I needed another new control panel. Now company says I don’t have lifetime warranty because I didn’t send in warranty card. They claim That they sent me replacement last time as a courtesy. This company is so short sited, they probably paid staff to argue with me more than it would have cost to replace the part. I bought a new part and had it installed…..back to the flickering lights. And do not buy this thinking you will cover the cost with savings. I’ve seen no difference in my electric bills. Read some other reviews. It’s not just the control panel that is garbage.Val
The first couple of months this product was awesome. Water was super hot and was easy to adjust. Then we noticed the water would not get as hot. Adjusted temperature on unit to 140 degrees, removed the filter off end of kitchen sink and nothing happened. Went through the virtual tech guide multiple times and found heating element was out. Tech support shipped a new one. Installed it, no change. Call back and was told you have to soak the heating elements in vinegar for 2-3 hours every six months. Reluctantly did it, no change. Even had it worked you should not have to do maintenance like this on a product not even a year old. Have had experience with other tankless heaters and never had to do maintenance. I've requested a supervisor call me 3-4 times and have yet to receive a call back. This has been going on for two months. Do not go with this product. Nicely made unit. Clean lines, nice display, lightweight, easy to mount. You'll need a terminal box to wire it up since it comes with it's own pigtail cable (they don't want you to open up the case since it will void it's warranty, apparently; multi breaker units might be different), so I bought an inexpensive 60 amp A/C unit type cut-off switch box with a pull out switch. Just mount it near the heater on the wall and run your 6 gauge wire to it from your breaker panel. I just wish they had included adapters so that you can plumb it to 3/4" piping, so you'll have to buy your own if you wish to connect it to your existing 3/4" pipe. I had trouble using pipe dope (maybe it was too old or the wrong kind?), so I switched to Teflon tape (5 layers) on each fitting and that did the trick. Love the easy to turn dial, press to turn on/off feature and easy to read digital display which comes on when hot water is called for. Now, we'll see how long it lasts before some type of failure…scottcollins
so just got this unit instated and replaced 6 years old Titan (220watts)that just hasn't been getting up desire temperature lately. read bunch of reviews and this unit had better ratings . it was easy to switch from old unit as water and power hookups are almost the same . tested and it want keep up with fully open single sink , I had to reduce water flow at inlet pipe . did not measure but it seams im getting aprx. 2 gal a minute. no way to use 2 outlets at same time. btw we are in coastal northern Washington stateromanles

We loved this unit when first installed. Now 1-1/2 years later, it has been replaced 2x. To be fair, B&D did replace but we had to install a total of 3 times at our cost. It has 3 internal breakers, which when tripped require the cover to be removed. When last replaced by B&D, they said no more warranty. We will not buy another. And yes, we had it hooked up to a water softener and filters.Patti

Seems I waste gallons of water waiting for it to get hot so I put one under the kitchen sink and it works good. Well enough that I bought another for the bathroom. Nice compact unit and easy to install. Insure you have access to electric outlet. Under the kitchen sink I have an outlet for dishwasher and disposal so wired a plug to the unit and just pluged it in. Bathroom required more effort to get electric for unit.Greg
The tech in my coffee pot and carpet steamer is more advanced with less material. This is for slow luke warm hand washing with lots of soap. Would take over 3 min for a gallon of water. Your not going to brew tea or wash dishes with this. If you absolutely have to have instant warm water at just above a trickle, this is for you , patience required.Frankly Honest
I installed this unit in my guest bathroom where getting hot water was an interminable wait, which wasted water as well. It was relatively easy to install and hook up, though working under the sink is a pain! I had to have an electrician run an outlet circuit first. Installed our new Takagi tankless water heater a couple of weeks ago. So far, we are very happy with the water heater and find it to be an improvement over the 10 year old Paloma heater it replaced. Installation was relatively easy and the conversion to propane, with the included conversion kit, was straight forward. One does need a manometer to properly set-up the new water heater. We did indeed have to adjust slightly, the minimum-fire gas pressure. A simple water manometer, (we used Yellow Jacket model 78075 from Amazon), worked perfectly. We also purchased an electronic gas leak detector to make absolutely sure our installation was tight; especially after the propane conversion. (It was.) Bought everything from Suppyhouse, except pex piping and isolation valves. Tankless unit arrived in two days to replace leaking 40 gallon tank unit. Everything ordered was in stock, except a few stainless vent items. Vent sections not in stock took from 3-8 days to arrive at my house. I purchased the model 310U to replace a 23 year-old Takagi TK-2 that finally failed. Some careful measuring told me that I could install the new heater in approximately the same location as the old one without making any changes to the existing flue piping, and this turned out to be true. Gas and water piping required rework since all the connections are on the bottom of the 310U as opposed to the left side on the TK-2. I strongly recommend buying a new isolation/service valve set for the installation. My local M*n**ds had the Watts LFTWH series valve set in stock. SupplyHouse carries the A.O. Smith version, but it would ship separately from the heater and take an extra couple of days to arrive, so I opted to buy it locally. It really does simply the installation, and makes draining or flushing the heater so much easier… plus the pressure relief valve is included, so that's one less item to shop for. It feels a little strange to me to have an appliance like a water heater with a cord-and-plug rather than being electrically hard-wired, but this eliminates the need for an electrical disconnect at the water heater, so I just replaced my disconnect with a duplex receptacle. The 310U worked perfectly from the first powerup. The control panel is excellent and easy to navigate. Otherwise, it works very similarly to the TK-2 it replaced. The 310U does seem to deliver warm water slightly more quickly than the TK-2, but it might just be my imagination. The startup sounds are more noticeable with the 310U, but not what I would call loud. While running, it's nearly silent. SupplyHouse.com was amazingly fast processing my order and getting the heater shipped (free). The new heater was delivered in 2 days. The whole ordering process was extremely easy and efficient. I installed the CM-40L on a dual lavatory. Both faucets are low flow 0.35 single handle. Water is hot within seconds (time to flow through pipe). Imagine hot water to wash up without the wait. Initially the hot water pressure was kinda low, especially with both faucets full hot. But then i removed a flow restrictor from the nipple on the heater's outlet. That fixed it.
