7. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows [Book]

Product Details:
Reviews:
2018:Ha… well apparently I liked it more on the re-read. Still definitely not my favorite, and I still think log sections were boring, but a pretty satisfactory ending.2007: I thought this book was… boring. I swear nothing at all happened in the first 500 pages or so but Harry, Ron, and Hermione camping and arguing. Boring boring boring…Malfoy became a total non-character and said no more than 10 words in the entire book and you were left wondering when he became such a pansy. You were supposed to feel bad in the end when Lupin and Tonks died… but really, why? Lupin said about 10 words in this book just like Malfoy, and all it was was him being a loser and trying to run out on his new family. And then I'm supposed to feel bad about his death? One of the twins died, so you would think they'd have this big heart-wrenching scene with the other twin mourning, but no. Why was Hagrid being held by the death eaters at the very end? What were they going to do to him? Another complaint: Most of the fighting scenes were like this: "George was taking on Greyback. Luna and Ginny were attacking Bellatrix. Neville was holding off Yaxley." You couldn't picture any of it… there was no description at all.Let's talk about Snape. You get his story finally, but it's all as a memory in the pensieve. Like all the other characters in this book other than Harry, Ron, and Hermione, he said only five words. "Let me go get Potter…" That's it. So you see Snape for like two minutes and then he gets a very quick anticlimactic death and then you get his life story. Now I'm glad he's a good guy and all, but still… I wanted HIM to be in this book, not just his memories. Very lame. And on to Voldemort. All you get of him in this book is *voldemort flies around to X place* *voldemort kills X person* over and over. In the end, he was pretty unimpressive. The ending: The ending as a whole was pretty dumb, really. Harry sacrifices himself without actually sacrificing himself and he kills Voldemort without really killing Voldemort. Don't you think it was pretty lame that it was a WAR, and yet none of the kids ever used avada kedavra? If someone's trying to kill me and has killed my friends and family, I'd be doing more than the dang stunning charms. I know it's a kid's book and all, but still.sara.d
Harry has grown older, wiser since we last saw him. No longer the petulant and angst-ridden teen whose days were punctuated with dark moods and fights with those closest to him, he has matured beyond his years and accepts the impossible tasks before him decisively. The same holds true for Ron and Hermione and as the novel progresses, we see the relationships between the trio mature and triumph in the face of great difficulty. The writing is fantastic as usual. Rowling strikes a perfect balance in attacking her dark subject matter in a manner fitting for both the adult and younger reader. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows exceeds expectations and is, by a long shot, the best yet of the series, which has been entirely transfixing, far more so than fans of the movies might suppose. Those readers who have kept the faith throughout will no doubt continue on if they haven't already. Those who are looking for added encouragement to pick up these magical books and forge ahead, find it here. Harry Potter is a rare treasure and a cultural phenomenon in the midst of which we can feel fortunate to find ourselves.Jordan
The content of the book so far is fantastic, as would be expected. However I would strongly encourage you to buy a different printing of this book. The first 118 pages completely fell out of the book within the first day of my 10-year-old son reading it. He reads books all the time and this has never happened before, so I don’t believe it had anything to do with the user error. Harry potter books are a wonderful experience for the reader. Don’t let the cheap binding of this printing spoil it for you or your child.Wally

Reviews:
The first installment of one my favorite children's books. I honestly prefer the original artwork as apposed to the most recent reprinted edition. I just feel the original artwork make the stories more visual and scary with that ghastly appearance the artwork has. Overall it's really well written book that can be read in one sitting if one would like too. Highly recommended 🙂exodus_cross
I remember Scary Stories from when I was a kid and just how much the simply written stories effected me. Along with the bizarre artwork of Stephen Gammell. I recently purchased some used copies from Ebay, and made sure it contained the original artwork not the new artwork you see in the new editions, and am happy to say the stories are still as compelling as they were when I was a kid. They are simple, yet strangely primal in how they tap into that ancient emotion of fear and dread we all hold inside. I got the books to read to my girlfriend's little boy who is now nine. At first he wasn't interested until I read him the first story, 'The Big Toe'. Now every night he wants me to sit in his room and read him a tale or two and spark his imagination like the stories did for me when I was a child.ironvenom
It's a good thing my friend who loves things that are older and loves this book in particular, I would have sent it back because it's in terrible condition. The front page is torn, the spine is cracked and you can tell it's been used a lot. The only reason I'm keeping it is because I know my friend will appreciate the authentic look of it.chfau47

Helps me to ensure that my child is staying on track with her learningDiane
The honest truth I am very disappointed……I ordered the wrong edition. I should have ordered the third edition. I’m not sure how I made that mistake. We waited a long time for the item to arrive and now I can’t use it! No fault to Rainbow Resources though. My own disappointing error.Georgina

20. Wonder [Book]

Product Details:
Read the book that inspired the choose kind movement, a major motion picture, and the critically acclaimed graphic novel white bird.and don't miss r.j. palacio's highly anticipated new novel, pony, available now! i won't describe what i look like. whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse. august pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. starting 5th grade at beecher prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past auggie’s extraordinary face. beginning from auggie’s point of view and expanding to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others, the perspectives converge to form a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. in a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope. palacio has called her debut novel “a meditation on kindness” —indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

Reviews:
This was a Christmas gift to my 9 year old grandson. Truthfully, he is not a strong reader and a reluctant one. He prefers playing outdoors with his friends. His family saw the movie. He was telling me about the movie and then said, "I would like to read the book." We read the book together every day. He would bring it to me! I helped him with a few words, maybe one on each page. He would quickly turn the page to continue reading it. He has never before brought a book to me. It has been a struggle to get him to read even 10 minutes. This is a great story to share. I highly recommend it.CHERYL
I don't know where to begin with this awe inspiring story! Auggie looks different from everyone else, very few people have what he does. Rather than be shameful, Auggie makes the best of his situation. Even when he got brought the down, he never stayed down for long. Every kid goes through teasing and embarrassment in school. This book emphasizes no matter what people think or say you control your actions and future.Briana
