1. The Witcher Boxed Set: Blood Of Elves, The Time Of Contempt, Baptism Of Fire [Book]
Product Details:
Soon to be a major netflix original series! this special boxed set includes the first three novels in andrzej sapkowski's nyt bestselling epic fantasy saga — the books that introduced the world to the witcher and inspired the hit video games. – for over a century, humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves have lived together in relative peace. but times have changed, the uneasy peace is over, and now the races are fighting once again. the only good elf, it seems, is a dead elf. – geralt of rivia, the cunning assassin known as the witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. this child has the power to change the world – for good, or for evil. – as the threat of war hangs over the land and the child is hunted for her extraordinary powers, it will become geralt's responsibility to protect them all — and the witcher never accepts defeat. – in blood of elves, the time of contempt, and baptism of fire, sapkowski brings a fresh new voice to fantasy fiction, creating something wholly dark and exciting in this world of monsters and witchers.
Reviews:
Everything was good, except when I picked up the box set (which was wrapped) one of the books had slight damage to the bottom of it. There wasn't any damage to the box set, so I don't know how it happened.Carlene
I started playing the video game the end of October before learning that the games tell the story of what happens AFTER the books, which I believe there is five of them. I told my husband he should have led with that! I love male authors because they have a way of getting straight to the point without losing the substance of the story where female authors tend to be a little detail driven and drawn out. This book follows that straight to the point aspect so you're given a lot of information in the first few chapters. For anyone who is a fan of the game or loves a good fantasy action drama with rich and enduring characters and relationship [not all of them romantic] I highly recommend this book. It's only rated a 4 star because the translation from Polish to English does not always crossover well but the books have definitely solidified my fandom to this world!JOSEPH
This set is a great place to start to begin reading the Witcher stories, however another book was actually added by the author to technically be a prequel to these. Do your research first and start with that book. Although technically you don't have to but it helps. This set is very nice and was the best priced anywhere I could find at the time. BAM got it to me safe and sound and wrapped well but took forever to get it, well over a month. Stories are fantastic and since there are so many reviews on them I won't bother, this review is more to the collection being a good deal and a nice have.Tammy

I think this is a book very fantastic to get stopped my son loved reading it I love watching it and we both love Jackson movie so strong in the car back fight back on the world 🌎 nisha.p
I love the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series. I started reading them in third grade. The characters are for the most part likable and relatable and the mythology aspect of it is interesting and helped in some of my World History classes. I would recommend to any middle schooler.
I fell in love with these books years ago, and I quickly read every single one that was out at the time. This was different than the others in ways, but still good. Percy and Annabeth are such a good pair, I could read book after book with them as the main characters. If you have read the first few, definitely keep reading, they get better and better!victoria.g

A brilliant book. Well worth whatever its worth. Engaging the whole way through, and making the loved characted from the originals even deeperJacko1024
This series launched the Star Wars expanded universe of novels and stories. I bought it so I could read about Mara Jade, who is a character I knew nothing about except what my friend told me.It sounded interesting so I bought the series. Also Timothy Zahn will be author guest of honor at ConGlomeration 2019 in Louisville this year, so I will see if he will sign them for me.edshopper65
Very well written, follows the Star Trek theme. good guys versus the bad guys, a lot of focus on Leia being pregnant with twins. All-in-all an enjoyable novel for those 16-30.pickard50
5. Love On The Brain [Book]
Product Details:
"like an avenging, purple-haired jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, bee kèonigswasser lives by a simple code: what would marie curie do? if nasa offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project — a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia — marie would accept without hesitation. duh. but the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with levi ward. sure, levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. and sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. but levi made his feelings toward bee very clear in grad school — archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away. now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. perhaps it's her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but bee could swear she can see levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas … devouring her with those eyes. and the possibilities have all her neurons firing. but when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there's only one question that matters: what will bee kèonigswasser do?"–

I did like it. It doesn’t compare to the love hypothesis but I did enjoy it. Definitely a lot spicier in the love scenes. Is it my ultimate favorite? No but it was a good read.Mimi
Can I give is 0 stars? Love Hypothesis is the ONLY reason this book has any sort of HYPE. This book and characters are terrible. Its like the book has an agenda made by the author… MC is absolutely unlikable, feminist liberal with a nasty attitude and woe is me personality. Which absolutely insults and overshadows actual women in the real world, whose profession hold much respect for their intelligence in the fields this MC is. THIS BOOK IS GARBAGE. Just skip it. This author may be a ONE HIT WONDER. Like many Pandemic writers. Fingers crossed we get another enjoyable book like Love Hypothesis. I ended up returning this, couldn’t even finish a few chapters in.Literary Sassy Lassy
I didn't love this one nearly as much as her first book, The Love Hypothesis, but it was still a cute and enjoyable read. The end was a bit dramatic (and somehow also predictable?) for me, though.HabbinJabbins

Reviews:
Mest pladder. Nä stor besvikelseSven A
Hemingway sa "You got to have a story " Det finns inte här…Kurt H
This book is deep like an ocean. Can be confusing but ultimately very fulfilling. Questions of life and where we are all heading are confronted. Amazing look at schizophrenia. McCarthy can be very funny with his dialogue. A lot of dialogue but very interesting. Any mention of landscape is rare but wow it's like a beautiful brush stroke of paint.Mal

Reviews:
Omg yes. I… wow. It’s just so sad and heartbreaking, it’s so wow I can sometimes predict the twists, but in this case it was so unpredictable, I love it. It does start very slow, I almost wanted to stop reading it but I am so glad I kept reading it, it’s so worth it. One of my favorites at the moment for sure. Totally recommend if u like suspenseful thrillers and a little bit of sadness. I did cry.Sophia
I liked this one. It had its sad moments without a doubt. It also really shed light on how family dynamics change when they experience such trauma. It was a quick read and held my interest. This was my first book from Jewell. I bought it on a whim seeing it at Target. I’d recommend it!kerry.b
I just bought this book from Target online and found that it was missing the first 11 chapters. And then a few pages in chapter 12 is repeated again! So needless to say i returned it back to Target and the team member found 5 more books misprinted like mine. finally found a correct version with all chapters so looking forward to reading it soon, but this was a first for me 🙂MLeonard

Reviews:
So it is an easy read but it took to page 227 to get somewhat interesting- but enough that I cared. Maybe young adult is not my forte? Fast read if you want to finish it within two days. Definitely not a favb
Loved the book! I watched the TV show as well and found the book was much better. Only complaint is that it was hard for me to believe it took place in a high school. I’m not a writer, but personally, the setting didn’t exactly fit with the plot.adorkable
5 star read! I found this book to be captivating and love how the pieces of the puzzle are put together. A little predictable at times however some chapters were not what I thought. I enjoyed this who done it story.

Reviews:
Let me first say I usually don't write reviews about anything, but this deserves it. First off, it's an easy read and understanding everything that is going on so you could get thru the series fairly quick, and that is the hard part because you want to finish it as soon as possible, but want it to continue. Hardin and Tessa's relationship is one of the hardest I have ever read, but it is raw and passionate love, and it is the worse kind of love, but that is what love is about, sometimes. I have never cried in my life as much as I have over a book, not even when Dobby dies in Harry Potter. I even threw the books a few times, cursed at it, curled up under my husband's arms because the emotions in their story is so raw.I hated Hardin, loved Hardin, hated Tessa, and loved her again. This book is not for people who take things series , as it does have a lot of emotional abuse in it. At the end of everything no one should go through the process that this couple goes through, but again some people actually do.That is what makes series so great, it could actually happen. And to think it started with a One Direction. I will honestly reread the whole series again, and I don't do that.Nessa
In this twisted and trying tale, an ambitious, college-bound girl, Tessa Young, has found herself entangled with a wild boy that she would have never have given the time of day. Her main goal was to focus on school, her too-good-to-be true boyfriend, Noah, and to start her career in English, but all of that changes after. After she meets Hardin. He is a bad boy with a traumatic past he has completely captured Tessa's attention. In the first book of the After series we find Tessa trying to find out how she fits into her new college life while also figuring out if she is falling for Hardin Scott. My favorite trope is that of enemies to lovers and this book fulfills that fantasy!Mack
Personally, I had watched the first three movies before reading the series. The first book was very sexual and detailed. However, I found myself obsessed. I have completed the book two times before ever finishing the series of books. The books are in my opinion way better than the books. However, watching them first allowed me to imagine Tessa Hardin as the characters presented in the movies. My mother has tried to read the series but found no interest. She prefers the movies and is a book junkie. With all that being said I would say give the book a shot. 👍🏼savannah.p

HC 314/240 pages includes Preface, Contents, Intro., Appendix 12 pgs., Notes 36 pgs., Biblio. 6 pgs., Chronologies 7 pgs., Index 12 pgs. 9.5" x 6.5"A cleverly devised treatise details five of the Worlds' most notable theoretical physicists – all began as Jewish Hungarian citizens of Budapest who, in time, migrated to the U.S., toiled collectively and separately to develop strategic defense systems including the atomic hydrogen bombs, computers, modernized Airforce, and establishing or working at the AEC, NASA, JPL, Manhattan Project, Livermore, Los Alamos, Oak Ridge, etc.Convenient attribute of this writing is its apportionment into six chapters to reveal their progressive transition from early childhood into figures of greatness and thence onto their waning years. It reflects their family influences, societal environs, politico-economic conditions, scholastic opportunities, and acceptance into American cultural institutions as Princeton, Harvard, Berkeley, Caltech and the U.S. military. The plethora of B W photographs contributes enormously to the book's value as does appendix of "Sampler of Quotable Martians". Perhaps most importantly are descriptors of personal interactions amongst the Martians themselves. This book embraces exciting history, racism, psychological ploys of embattled nations bureaucracies, and the search for peace amidst glorious and sometimes inglorious purlieus. That the author is an acclaimed writer, recognized scientist, Professor of chemistry, authored several dozen books and is personally acquainted with and interviewed several of the 'Martians' is a plus. Its a good read and the price is right.niŝs.r
I read The Martian via audio book. Going into The Martian, I didn't know what to expect. I was around when it won a Goodreads Choice in 2014. Since that moment it has been on my to-read list and I was always very curious of it. I recently I saw previews for The Martian film. I finally understood what the story was about and my curiosity grew immensely. The idea fascinated me and as a Psych major, I wondered: what would being deserted in space do to your head? Then a good friend of mine read it and though she told me she wasn't sure if I would like it, I knew it was time to read it any way and I figured all the space and science jargon would be easier to get through if I went the audio route. I was blown away by home much I actually liked this book. Yes, some of that science stuff and numbers were a bit hard to get through and I found myself unconsciously tuning some of it out. My favorite part of the entire book was Mark's sass. He is a very sassy character and humorous! I found myself laughing out loud a couple times. The tale is an on-the-edge-of-your-seat read. Mark meets many trials which he very cleverly works through. The part that I was most looking forward to was obviously the psychological side of it which was touched on a few times but perhaps not as much as I hoped however I loved that Mark was perfectly honest in his log as to how he was feeling with an I am screwed and I'm going to die now! screw you Mars! attitude. At the end of the book I found myself cheering with everyone else! It left me feeling good and accomplished. (view spoiler) I will warn that this book contains strong language. I recommend this book to anyone who fascinated by space, those who love numbers and science and anyone who is in the mood for a bit of a challenging read.krista.t
The Martian is about an astronaut, Mark Watney, who is the first to walk on Mars. After a sandstorm his crew had to leave him, assumed dead. He survived and the story is about how he survived. Mark is a botanist and mechanical engineer, so the only way he can think of to stay alive is through growing potatoes. Why potatoes- Because it has 770 calories per kilo. So as we read along, he calculates and tries solving many problems that come into play. His dark sense of humour saves him at times. I read this book, because I have seen the movie and it was so good, I had to buy the book. This was also my first time in reading a science fiction book. I must applaud Andy Weir, the way he writes this book, is just astounding. With his knowledge of being a software engineer, his maths and physics, scientifically woven into this story, you would think this would be so believable. His plot twists in this book is superb which you don't see coming. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the engineering industry who like to know how things work, readers who like space, sci fi fans (and apparently Andy Weir is a Doctor Who fan and has seen all the episodes). Word of warning, since it does have dark humour in this book, there is a bit of swearing and crass language, but not overbearing.Pauline

Reviews:
Ken Follett is a master story teller; and "The Pillars of the Earth" is a fascinating insight into the medieval world. This is carried on in the sequel. This book my wife bought me for our 18th wedding anniversary; although I'd read it some years previously. The accuracy of his knowledge of the medieval world is wonderfully demonstrated in "The Pillars . ." A great book, which I would recommend to any lover of historical fiction.nobby0183
I read this many years ago. Though fiction, much if that mentioned in the book was factual – characters, language, behavior and more in and around the era of 12th century Britain. It took me back to a time in history that I had rarely investigated before, The main characters were engaging and elicited my emotions and caring for them. This was a powerful novel that would require me to write something nearly as long, in order to do it justice. The best I can, or want, to do is to say, "Go buy it." You won't be disappointed. PS I loved this book so much, but had lost the original copy (it was damaged), so was ordering this just so that I would always have a copy to read and reference. Unfortunately, the supplier had run out, so could not fill my order. I will look for it again.chapinfo1
This book is my favorite ever. I keep buying them as gifts for others The condition of the book was excellent, but if it was just good I would be happy. Great gifts. If you like history, although its not a history book, it goes back to the knights and Masons. I hated when I was done reading it. I wanted more. Just a hint about the second book written a few years later… I totally didn't connect with anything, big disappointment.eves_world_2005

X-Men meets The Handmaid's Tale! This is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Victoria Aveyard's The Red Queen, Netflix's Stranger Things and Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows. Following Shatter Me, this is the second book in the series. The second book is even better than the first. You get emerged into the tale and your connection to the characters grow even more. Nothing is at seems in this series and you will end up being hooked!Susan
This series was a little slow to get going for me, but once it did, I couldn't put it down! This book, the 2nd in the series, has DECKLED EDGES that ARE NOT walmart's fault (eye roll at the other review). I'm not a fan of deckled edges, but it seems the hardcover version of this book is only available that way.Christy829

Reviews:
Michael Connelly is on top form with this fast paced thriller. Set in Los Angeles an online urnalist finds himself a suspect when a former girlfriend is murdered. His journalistic instincts draw him deeper into the story as he attempts to slve the mystery of who the killer is and of course publish the story first. Well researched great storytelling puts this novel up there with the authors best.stered
One of my favorite authors whose characters have real strength and weaknesses. Interesting plot and interesting ending.glasslady158
Typical Connelly spends too many words describing the details of every street characters move from one place to another. However, also typical of Connelly, he definitely keeps you on edge. Having read all of his "BOSCH" novels I am thrilled he has started this new series.SANDRA

Reviews:
this was a fantastic/ depressing as hell finish to a series of something like 14 books. i had to stop 100 pages out cause i was painful de-hydrated from crying too much. this stands in a league of it's own. i'm not saying it's better than say The Hobbit or other fantasy novels but there's something so different and special about the story of Fitz and his world. gone through alot of pain and joy to get here and i'll think but on the time i spent reading this series with fond memories. farewell Fitzmike
Robin Hobb IMHO is the best fantasy writer, ever! I have read her complete series 3 times and still get moved by her writing! She develops characters so completely that you feel a part of their world and know each intimately!! Now if only someone from Hollywood would read them, endless epic movies could be the result!Mike
Robin hobb is an author who has not disappointed. The story is addictive, you're torn between reading as quickly as you can, and trying to slowly savour it. Do ensure that you have read the previous books first though.starlight_rose1986

Brad Thor is one of the hottest writers today. He has stepped to the forefront of the Thriller, and this is a new twist. A female Delta style squad. All women. And all kick a** women. You'd be proud to see them coming down the alleyway when you're getting jacked. And you'd almost feel bad for the bad guys. Almost. In any event, Thor has taken an idea, run with it and scored. This is exactly why he is tops, he steps slightly out of the norm, and give it to us with both barrels. Brad Thor rules. And so do these bad a** chicks!mrbatron
this is probably the worst book I have read from Brad Thor. He is usually one of my favorite authors but this one fell very flat with me. Had to make myself finish it – found the entire premise far-fetched and improbable. Plus the dialogue between the women sounded like a bunch of teenagers!ahuck58
