I saw the 1st Season & just loved it! The show is really well made, the story line is great, the characters & actors are also great! It is not boring in any way, it keeps you interested. In short, I think this is just a Great Movie, I enjoyed it & can't wait for Season 2 to watch. So I saw that " A Discovery of Witches " The All Souls Trilogy Boxed Set was available for me to read & so I bought a Set. The 2nd Season is not out yet in the US.xangor1

Samantha Shannon is one of my FAVOURITE authors. I've read the three books that are out in The Bone Season septology MULTIPLE TIMES and I'm OBSESSED. I follow her on social media and I'd been hearing about a world filled with dragons and female power for a while and while I was excited, it wasn't until I saw that JAW-DROPPING cover that I knew, with all certainty, that I WOULD DEFINITELY BE READING THIS BOOK. So, when Bloomsbury India send me an advance copy, I jumped in joy and dived in almost immediately. IN A NUTSHELL: The Priory of the Orange Tree is one of the BEST fantasy novels I've read in a while, especially in terms of world-building. The religions, the kingdoms and the politics usually don't intrigue me as much as the characters do, but Priory was a perfect blend of it all. I was as invested in the fate of the kingdom and the people as I was in the characters narrating the story. I loved the magic, the dragons, the lore, the romance, the friendship and the political intrigue. In a nutshell, that ended up being no so nutshell-y, The Priory of the Orange Tree was everything I expected it to be AND MORE. THINGS I LOVED: 1. EAD AND SABRAN. These two were my FAVOURITE characters and I loved them and their story. 2. In this world, both same and different sex partners and were the norm, except for royalty because of the whole line of succession reason, but companionship was based on love, not society-based gender constructs and it was wonderful 3. THE WATER DRAGONS WERE BRILLIANT and I LOVED Tane and her dragon's story. 4. THE WORLD, THE RELIGIONS AND THE PALACES were all brilliant. I cannot describe how much I became a part of this world while reading this 800-page beauty, but I did. It was probably the most "I'm a part of this world now" experience I've ever had. So I want to first explain that the series is the first series in several series that are linked together. I didn't realize this and accidentally read the angel trials first. Which I suppose is okay, but I wish that there were notes on any of the book sites that let you know that this was the first in the entire series. It is several separate series but this is the first so make sure to check out the rest of her titles so you can figure out which order they go in which I think is vampire angel fairy and then the newest one is about the wolf sisters and I think it also goes with this entire story. I am only partially through the vampire series but I read the entire Angel trials and they are absolutely amazing and this series has been seriously amazing as well. each of the series are red from a different point of view from characters that you will see and meet and all the different books. The books are all aiming toward the same end goal but it's telling the stories and the timeline of how that goal is going to come to pass. If you're not normally one to pick up vampire stories don't worry this one's great and it goes with the rest of them. this will present you with hours of entertainment starting with this one and then entering into the other books that go along with it. The mistborn series is perfect for people who love stories with fantastical and magical elements in a different universe. It is a bit long, but oh so worth it! I can't wait for the final book of the second era (yes there are two eras!) to be launched.melanihann3

This is a great series to read! As a fan of fantasy, I loved this series. I got onto Brandon Sanderson after he finished off Robert Jordan's wheel of time series. I found those last 3 books of WoT to be the best (although it did have the epic conclusion!). This series has a fantastic world and I enjoy the whole series but I just wanted more!! I wish the world was thicker and deeper in what it was all about. If only this was a 12 book series! I would have loved it!! Anyway, it definitely left me wanting more, so great!! I read this before I ever saw one episode of GOT and I loved it. It focuses on one guy trying to get the ultimate throne and the characters are great. There are several real world things the author wrote in with the spin of fantasy and it is just perfect. The author doesn't hold back and it is awesome. "Strength must be seized." I needed this message this week. If was being truly critical, I'd rate this a 4.5 only because out of 3 (arguably major) plot twists/reveals, I was able to predict 2 of them quite early – but I'm not being critical, because this didn't detract from my enjoyment of the writing. The ending is also a bit cliffhanger-y and I wanted some more resolution but obviously, this didn't affect me because this story actually made me slow down and repeat my listening of the audiobook and re-read lines in the version on my e-reader to highlight certain quotes and savor the narrative experience. I stretched out reading this over 3 days when I certainly could have finished it in 2. Upon finishing it, I pre-ordered the second book, forthcoming in January, We Free the Stars . I bought it NOW and it comes out in JANUARY 2021. I rarely ever do this. Most of what I read I first borrow from the library, and then decide to purchase if I truly love it. Plus the romance here is done SO well – I love these characters. They're believable and so is their love – even if they won't admit it yet in words to each other! This to me, is a love story between two introverts and I adore that. There are a lot of familiar elements I love in this story, but that’s precisely why I enjoyed it. Although in my mind there are winks and nods to other YA/fantasy/romance tales, this one is written solidly, it feels delightful to see it unfold. Faizal does a MASTERFUL enemies-to-lovers slowburn. I was hoping I could get through it but, it was way too wordy. I gave up before the end of the first chapter. Not an enjoyable read by any means. The premise sounds great but you need a dictionary and pages of notes for all the names.KINSEY

I was super fortunate to receive an advanced reader copy of We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal from Fierce Reads at C2E2! HUGE thank you to Fierce Reads for this amazing arc! First I have to mention the absolutely gorgeous arc cover of We Hunt the Flame. I love the official release cover, but look at how stunning the arc edition is! I love it so much! Much like the cover, We Hunt the Flame is a gorgeous masterpiece! We Hunt the Flame is an incredible debut from Hafsah Faizal. I loved everything about this story and I can’t wait to read more from her. We Hunt the Flame is an epic fantasy adventure full of political intrigue, mystery, a slow-burn romance, and feminism. It is set in a beautifully created world and narrated by two main characters, Zafira “The Huntress” and Nasir “The Prince of Death.” Both leads are written so well — they each have a history and backstory that shows the reader how they have become the Huntress and the Prince of Death. Faizal was able to do this without information dumping! Zafira and Nasir both experience huge growth and development throughout their journey. They both must confront their emotions, past traumas, and inner demons. The journey changes both for the better which brings them closer. I liked that the change wasn’t immediate or easy. Zafira and Nasir truly had to go on a journey – both physically and emotionally. Side note – the cast of side characters was also so good! Each character was very well done and added to the story. The story takes place in the world of Arawiya. There is a ton of history and culture in this world, but as I said earlier, it felt natural and not like information dumping. Arawiya is a nation made up of five caliphates (or states). Magic has disappeared from Arawiya and left a curse throughout the land, including the forest of darkness known as the Arz and the island of Sharr. Although it is a place, Sharr was a character on its own. It was all encompassing and had its own personality and desires. I haven’t read a lot of books where the setting/world is an actual character. It really elevated the story and showed how talented Faizal’s writing is. I can’t get over the writing of We Hunt the Flame. Hafsah Faizal is able to create lyrical, poetic, and enchanting words that flow perfectly together to craft a wholly original story. Faizal’s beautiful writing is incredibly lush and descriptive. This world and setting is super detailed and intricate, but still completely captivating. The intense detail didn’t seem overwhelming and actually added to the beautiful setting. I truly saw the world that Faizal created. I was on the journey with Zafira and Nasir. My ONLY complaint/suggestion is that a glossary would be nice. I did need to pause to look up some of the Arabic words in order to better understand some scenes. I can’t say enough good things about We Hunt the Flame. I feel like a lot of YA fantasy blends together lately, but not Hafsah Faizal’s masterpiece. We Hunt the Flame starts off a bit slower, but kept me pulled in the entire time. The ending is full of reveals, twists, and cliffhangers. I cannot wait for the rest of the series! Wonderful book series with great imagination, characters and storyline. It takes you to another type of existence (ex. Harry Potter, Twilight, etc.) but it's still based in reality and the bonding relationships and quest will leave you having a hard time putting these books down. Anyone can enjoy this series, a much younger family member recommended to me and I have re-read the series twice so far! These 3 books are the prequel to another series that is wonderful also. This is a must read for Fantasy fans. I first read these books as a teenager. The first five books are about Corwin and the next five are about his son, Merlin. Roger Zelazny is one of my favorite writers. Do yourself a favor and pick this up!Corwin

I was very impressed when I first read Zelazny's Amber series in Russian language. Author has such a writing manner that makes you read and re-read it over again and you get a deeper impression each time. The translation to other languages has its disadvantages and you never can translate some aspects and scenes of the book the same way as it sounds originally. Here in Russia we have several translation attempts, and they are all not alike, some good, some not much. That's why I purchased this great book of all times in original language and I look forward when they finally make the Hollywood Movie based on Zelazny's Amber stories.corvin_2004

The book as an electronic entity is of good quality with no layout errors and converted across to my Kindle very well. The story contained in the book is a fantastic way to round out a 9 book series. Really enjoyed my time with it and felt torn at the end – still wanted more but was equally satisfied with the journey I'd been on. Great book for fans of Lord of the Rings and Guardians of the Galaxy. It really sets the foundation for Aveyard’s newest trilogy. I read Red Queen in high school, and it’s great to watch Victoria develop her craft more and really write something that is close to her heart. Tolkien would definitely be a fan.Alyssa

At times it did feel info dumpy, which is understandable and I didn't mind it too much because I believe Lee's intention was to help us understand the history of the impending war and Sirscha's life. I will say, and this is a SPOILER, that the plot twist felt rushed. I felt like it was just chucked in there and a quick mission took place and the guy was killed but it felt underwhelming and not enough action (especially for a book that is jam packed with action). The Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom is one of the best YA fantasy books that has been recently published. Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. My only advice is do not start reading these books at night because you will find yourself reading all night. You cannot put the book down! Plus this beautiful edition is a dream for any book lover! This would make such a beautiful gift to any YA reader. The hardback are such beautiful design and look absolutely beautiful on the bookshelf.Susan

As an avid game of thrones fan, naturally I felt like getting the ASOIAF books for cheap. Postage was quick and the item arrived in immaculate condition, with a free poster map of Westeros and a part of Essos. The box that contains the book set has kinda teared slightly on the edges however. The box has been made to be maybe a bit too tight so take care when taking out books and putting them back in. Overall excellent service from The Works. Would recommend the box set especially at this price! Currently on book 2 and I thought A Game of Thrones was a compelling read, so the actual content is fantastic as well. If you're a GOT fan, make sure you have this on your bookshelf.ansbha-5243

Missed the series when shown on TV, so bought the books to accompany the film series, also recently purchased. Have only just started to read the first novel, but already I am captivated by the detail and the compelling and thrilling storyline.
