Reviews:
I have been reading and especially been rereading the outlander series for about 30 years already. The first five books I have are paperbacks held together by elastic bands, so many times have they been read. I have now bought a hardcover to complement the other hardcovers I have of the series. I am one of those who really don't like the tv-series, because I have been living with these characters for a long time already and no real life person can ever come close to how I have pictured them in my head. But these books I'll keep rereading them until the last book is published.Sophia
A sweeping saga that transports the reader through time and major historical events, the two main characters keeping you endlessly engrossed in their lives and story. Diana Gabaldons imagination, historical knowledge and attention to detail are unsurpassed and the whole wonderful story brilliantly executed. Thank goodness there are eight generous books -so far- to keep this reader happy. A true masterpiece.harrybubs
I started watching the TV series and then found out there were books!! This story of a love that literally spans all time had me from the beginning! Claire and her husband Frank are o a second honeymoon after the war, While looking for a plant, Claire is pulled back in time two hundred years. There she meets Jaime Fraser. The author's use of actual history and the descriptive beauty of Scotland almost transport you there. All I can say is, once you start be ready for a wild ride and more be ready to buy at least 7 more books!lmarshall61
2. The Bear And The Nightingale: A Novel [Book]
Product Details:
Katherine arden’s bestselling debut novel spins an irresistible spell as it announces the arrival of a singular talent with a gorgeous voice. “a beautiful deep-winter story, full of magic and monsters and the sharp edges of growing up.”—naomi novik, bestselling author of uprootedwinter lasts most of the year at the edge of the russian wilderness, and in the long nights, vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. above all, vasya loves the story of frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. wise russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. then vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from moscow. fiercely devout, vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but vasya fears what this may bring. and indeed, misfortune begins to stalk the village. but vasya’s stepmother only grows harsher, determined to remake the village to her liking and to groom her rebellious stepdaughter for marriage or a convent. as the village’s defenses weaken and evil from the forest creeps nearer, vasilisa must call upon dangerous gifts she has long concealed—to protect her family from a threat sprung to life from her nurse’s most frightening tales.praise for the bear and the nightingale“arden’s debut novel has the cadence of a beautiful fairy tale but is darker and more lyrical.”—the washington post“vasya [is] a clever, stalwart girl determined to forge her own path in a time when women had few choices.”—the christian science monitor“stunning . . . will enchant readers from the first page. . . . with an irresistible heroine who wants only to be free of the bonds placed on her gender and claim her own fate.”—publishers weekly (starred review)“utterly bewitching . . . a lush narrative . . . an immersive, earthy story of folk magic, faith, and hubris, peopled with vivid, dynamic characters, particularly clever, brave vasya, who outsmarts men and demons alike to save her family.”—booklist (starred review) “an extraordinary retelling of a very old tale . . . the bear and the nightingale is a wonderfully layered novel of family and the harsh wonders of deep winter magic.”—robin hobb
Reviews:
It follows Vasya as she grows up as the only witch-child able to see the house and forest spirits in her village. Katherine Arden spared no charm when sharing creatures from the Slavic folklore that inspired her fairytale-esque story, featuring the domovoi living in the oven, to the seductive rusalka! nexpectededly deep themes layered with a magical winter tale led me to enjoy this book immensely. My only negative points are that with Russian names, the characters would have their proper name (e.g. Vasilisa) and then their nickname (e.g. Vasya), which at first was confusing when introduced initially to the book's cast. A tip for readers upon picking up this book: if there is a Russian word you are uncertain of, refer to the glossary at the end of the book! At first, I was not certain that I would find this book interesting;the start did not seem to feature well-developed characters but rather, an army of children that listened to their nurse tell them stories in the kitchen. However, I could not have been more wrong! Arden's tribute to Slavic folklore became more and more entrancing through watching Vasya grow up; she became more wild, rebellious and untameable with every chapter, and I came to love her. She reminds me of Arya Stark from George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones in her courage, and of Jude from Holly Black's The Cruel Prince, in her knowledge of the creatures that dwelled her lands. I often do not find the main character to be my favourite, usually finding them lacking character. However, this book is one exception, which was a feat to note! This book was so wonderfully lovable, particularly when reading about the homely feeling when Vasya and her siblings would talk with one another; I found myself enjoying seeing the strong relationships between them the more I read. I would advise readers to beware that the first part of the book may take a while to get into, but the rest of the book is worth its initial slowness! And make good use of the glossary.Fantastical Pages
Ill preface this review by saying that this is not the kind of book I would pick to read myself, but it was chosen for our book club. Its a Russian fairytale told in English. It is definitely well written, but its not something I can really get into. Anyone who enjoys this type of thing will probably really like it. A woman dies leaving behind a new baby and the father is royalty. The child grows to be a handful and the father decides to marry so that she might have a mother to help her grow up properly. The stepmother isnt kind to the Girl and the girl has special Powers.barbpow1
I haven't even finished the book yet, but it's so good I had to come here and review it stat. I love the dark fairytale aspect of it, and it's more substance to the storyline than just romance, unlike a lot of fantasy novels nowadays, which I love.Angie

5. Into Africa: The Epic Adventures Of Stanley And Livingstone [Book]
Product Details:
What really happened to dr. david livingstone? the new york times bestselling coauthor of survivor: the ultimate game investigates in this thrilling account.with the utterance of a single line—“doctor livingstone, i presume?”—a remote meeting in the heart of africa was transformed into one of the most famous encounters in exploration history. but the true story behind dr. david livingstone and journalist henry morton stanley is one that has escaped telling. into africa is an extraordinarily researched account of a thrilling adventure—defined by alarming foolishness, intense courage, and raw human achievement. in the mid-1860s, exploration had reached a plateau. the seas and continents had been mapped, the globe circumnavigated. yet one vexing puzzle remained unsolved: what was the source of the mighty nile river? aiming to settle the mystery once and for all, great britain called upon its legendary explorer, dr. david livingstone, who had spent years in africa as a missionary. in march 1866, livingstone steered a massive expedition into the heart of africa. in his path lay nearly impenetrable, uncharted terrain, hostile cannibals, and deadly predators. within weeks, the explorer had vanished without a trace. years passed with no word. while debate raged in england over whether livingstone could be found—or rescued—from a place as daunting as africa, james gordon bennett, jr., the brash american newspaper tycoon, hatched a plan to capitalize on the world’s fascination with the missing legend. he would send a young journalist, henry morton stanley, into africa to search for livingstone. a drifter with great ambition, but little success to show for it, stanley undertook his assignment with gusto, filing reports that would one day captivate readers and dominate the front page of the new york herald. tracing the amazing journeys of livingstone and stanley in alternating chapters, author martin dugard captures with breathtaking immediacy the perils and challenges these men faced. woven into the narrative, dugard tells an equally compelling story of the remarkable transformation that occurred over the course of nine years, as stanley rose in power and prominence and livingstone found himself alone and in mortal danger. the first book to draw on modern research and to explore the combination of adventure, politics, and larger-than-life personalities involved, into africa is a riveting read.
Reviews:
Into Africa: The Epic Adventures of Stanley & Livingstone". – Yes. – I feel thankful that I am here to welcome you. Oskar H
I saw a documentary about Livingstone and at the end this book was mentioned.I went on e-bay and found it immediately. The book was exactly what I expected and it was fantastic. depending on what you like to read, I would deffently reccomend this book.21091962slobodanka
This is THE most exciting book I've ever read. Every page is packed with gob smacking details of a blazing bygone era. It's a mesmerizing adventure story, expertly researched and beautifully told, and it is so utterly incredible, I had to keep reminding myself, "This really happened!"

Reviews:
Normally, sci-fi is not my jam. I'm more of a thriller and/or romance reader but this book… oh boy this book. I could not put it down and the main characters were enchanting, lovable, and I stayed up until midnight before my 6am shift at the hospital to find out what happened. There is a bunch of talk about physics and rocket science, however it was written in a way that everyone can understand. I have read 17 books so far this year and this one easily went into the top spot.kaitlyn.g
What a book! Simply could not put it down. The prose, the humour, the bamboozling science that sounded just so right, I loved it! I have not read 'The Martian' but I loved the movie, so I gave this a go, and it did not disappoint! A standalone sci-fi adventure that made me laugh – and cry when I finished it. I will now go back to read 'The Martian' to see what I might have missed because as we all know the books are always better than the movie. Can't wait!AnnaS
Big thank you to Random House/Ballantine Books and Netgalley for granting my wish to read and review this book. I immensely enjoyed Andy Weir's last two books. He has a way of pulling the reader in and its so hard to put the book down. Ryland Grace is the star of the book waking up alone (he finds his crew mates didn't make it) with amnesia on a ship trying to figure out how he got there and why. Through flash backs he remembers its to save humanity. I can't say enough good things about this book. I identified with Ryland's emotions and enjoyed his journey. I have previously seen reviews about language in AW books (I didn't have any problem with that….I prob would say worse given the situation) but if you worry about it this one has no language.BookLover

Reviews:
I loved this book because it was thrilling! I could not put it down! Love, love, love it! This book pulls you in from the first page, it is amazing! But probably only for readers above 10.Soph
I absolutely love the book! The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating from me is because it has a circular indent that lasts up through about page 25. It is very big (about the size of an airsoft bullet) but it is kind of annoying. It is in both the first and second book but the rest are in perfect condition so I don't think it should be that way with yours but I just wanted to say something about it.Josephine
This series is AWESOME! The books just keep getting better and better. I am reading through the series so quickly because I can't seem to put the story down. As soon as I get 2/3rd's through I hurry to BAM to get the next one! Thanks BAM, for carrying this great series!ALICIA
9. The Witcher Boxed Set: Blood Of Elves, The Time Of Contempt, Baptism Of Fire [Book]
Product Details:
Soon to be a major netflix original series! this special boxed set includes the first three novels in andrzej sapkowski's nyt bestselling epic fantasy saga — the books that introduced the world to the witcher and inspired the hit video games. – for over a century, humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves have lived together in relative peace. but times have changed, the uneasy peace is over, and now the races are fighting once again. the only good elf, it seems, is a dead elf. – geralt of rivia, the cunning assassin known as the witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. this child has the power to change the world – for good, or for evil. – as the threat of war hangs over the land and the child is hunted for her extraordinary powers, it will become geralt's responsibility to protect them all — and the witcher never accepts defeat. – in blood of elves, the time of contempt, and baptism of fire, sapkowski brings a fresh new voice to fantasy fiction, creating something wholly dark and exciting in this world of monsters and witchers.
Reviews:
Everything was good, except when I picked up the box set (which was wrapped) one of the books had slight damage to the bottom of it. There wasn't any damage to the box set, so I don't know how it happened.Carlene
I started playing the video game the end of October before learning that the games tell the story of what happens AFTER the books, which I believe there is five of them. I told my husband he should have led with that! I love male authors because they have a way of getting straight to the point without losing the substance of the story where female authors tend to be a little detail driven and drawn out. This book follows that straight to the point aspect so you're given a lot of information in the first few chapters. For anyone who is a fan of the game or loves a good fantasy action drama with rich and enduring characters and relationship [not all of them romantic] I highly recommend this book. It's only rated a 4 star because the translation from Polish to English does not always crossover well but the books have definitely solidified my fandom to this world!JOSEPH
This set is a great place to start to begin reading the Witcher stories, however another book was actually added by the author to technically be a prequel to these. Do your research first and start with that book. Although technically you don't have to but it helps. This set is very nice and was the best priced anywhere I could find at the time. BAM got it to me safe and sound and wrapped well but took forever to get it, well over a month. Stories are fantastic and since there are so many reviews on them I won't bother, this review is more to the collection being a good deal and a nice have.Tammy

Reviews:
I was happy to see that you had a lot of the CC books. I am going through all the "Dirk Pitt" books now.KATHRYN
I recently discovered Clive Cussler, and he is already my favorite writer! I am on my third book, and they just keep getting better. The main character Dirk Pitt is a modern day horny Hardy Boy! This particular book is set in the Aegean Sea and the descriptions in the book are so real, you want to go there! I am enjoying this book very much, and I highly recommend it to people that like their books exciting, true to the characters that have been created, and they don't stray far away from the main story line. Can't wait to start my next book. These books have original ideas, lush descriptions, and a hero that fights, gets shot, gets the girls, loses the girls, has bad days, and most importantly How does that old saying go: "He's the man women want ,and the man men want to be".mgeo4179
I first started reading Cussler when I found Pacific Vortex at my condo complex's library. I became addicted. Dirk Pitt novels are all top-notch adventure stories with political suspense, romance, and high-speed car chases thrown in. This is the 2nd book in the series, though it was the first one printed, and is an exciting, riveting adventure tale. I don't want to spoil a lot, but the plot is excellent, and as always, as twisty as the roads Pitt drives his sports cars on. It all starts when Dirk Pitt, the main hero, and Al Giordano find an antique WWII Bomber plane attacking a United States Base. With the help of a beautiful secret agent, Pitt is thrown into a wild action-packed tale of danger and villanous criminals. As with many Pitt books, the political entanglements can sometimes slow the action, but I still highly recommend this story, and the rest of the series. Enjoy the read.

Reviews:
I bought this book to generate conversations and fun between me and my fiancé. We live in 2 different areas of the country so when we get together it is full of quality time. The book has scratch off sections that do not work. You end up scratching of the entire information. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. During this time of COVID 19 it is disappointing that this book doesn’t deliver what it promised.– Dirk Hansondirk.h
They didn't have the friends edition listed to review but thats the one I've used. Although I did get the couples edition with it. Not sure if illnusenthat one but the friends one is fun we just did our first adventure that was something different. I can't wait to see what the others are like. The mystery of it makes it exciting. I do wish these books were a little cheaper but it is fun and probably worth it since it will last awhile. The camera option is ridiculously expensive though considering that nothing is included with it. I didnt get that off the site but instead got basically the same instant camera on Amazon for probably 80$ cheaper and it included everything along with a neat travel case.sarah.l
This is such a great idea and the packages is literally amazing. These books are made to last too, like they aren’t made cheap! Well worth it and the icons beside the activities are a great way to indicate which ones to scratch at that time.amber.v

Reviews:
I look forward to books by this author, and this one sure didn't disappoint. Two young women meet in college and form a bond and lifelong friendship, they also have plans to travel to Paris in spring time, but life's challenges seem to have gotten in the way. Fast forward twenty plus years and our girls are now empty nesters and both have been long divorced. They have dated through the years, but have been scared and so far, neither have found the right guy, and they have a traffic light signal for their appraisals of these possible romances. Now with plans to finally go to Paris, we get to see how things work out, and there are possible romances in these woman's lives. I also love that we are given an epilogue, although I wish I could continue in their lives! I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Random House, and was not required to give a positive review.MaureenT
I was looking for something nice to read over the holiday weekend, quarantined at home, and this book did not disappoint! A very good story, true Debbie Macomber! Highly recommended!Elizabeth
This book is a typical Debbie Macomber story…sweet, flawed characters, and mostly predictable. I do like Macomber's books, but know they won't be stimulating or surprising; but rather, predictable and an easy read. Her books are filled with every day issues, conflict, and decisions and somewhat mirrors regular people's lives. If you want a nice, sweet, easy read that is rather like sitting-on-the-beach kind of quiet and calm, this book will make you feel that way. It's a good book to read when you want your mind to not be challenged…but in a nice kind of way.DENISE
