I would recommend this water jug to anyone and everyone! Since I cannot tolerate the taste of the chemical treated tap water…I was searching for a filter jug. I have tried Brita and Zero but got a bitter aftertaste. Researching online I read that the reason that the water from these filtration systems tasted bitter was because the chemicals that we are used to are removed. I have been using the Classic pitcher for at least 8 years now and I have been very happy with it except the timer. I am on my 2nd pitcher and on both the timers never worked. But having said that, I absolutely love the taste of the water. I just keep track and change out the filter every 2 months. When the last filter I purchased made the water taste 'chemical-ly' at room temperature I contacted the company and they promptly sent out a new filter for me. Great customer service! I have used a Santevia classic for years and really loved it. When it came time to get a new pitcher, I decided to go with the new MINA model expecting the same quality. Unfortunately, the filter does not fit properly into the pitcher, so the water is only partially moving through the filter. The problem is that, unlike the classic filters, the MINA filters have no seal around the top, so water easily sneaks passed the filter. I'm not sure why the design changed for this model. I loved and reccomended mina pitchers and filters to everyone i knew..most of my family began using them. And they arent cheap! After a decade of using santevia water filters.. Suddenly, Nearly a year ago..we started noticing..the pitcher always has bits of the black filter pieces…chunks…flosting in the pitcher/water. And being poured out…so we are drinking it. Chronic sore throats have been an issue, one wonders if it is related. Ive tried everything. And wasted so much money and SO MANY filters asumimg it was a defective filter….and trying replacing it…(way way too soon)! As has my son and his roomate in college, and my friend and her family of 6….. and we all have had the same result. It just keeps happening. This filter is fantastic and the water tastes to fresh and clean. 5 stars there. But the lid is terrible. You cannot pour a glass of water when there is water in the top reservoir, it just pours out the top fill hole. Poor lid designs drops my rating. I was very surprised by this limitation. I was so excited to try my new alkaline pitcher, the pitcher claims to make your waters ph level 8.5 – 9. A Neutral ph level is 7. Regular tap water is around 6.8 to 7 ph. I followed directions on how to prep & setup the pitcher, filled it tried it & tested the water. Unfortunately the ph was 6.8. I refilled the pitcher a second time and retested the water but there was no change. I'm not sure if it is just this version of pitcher from this brand or if all of them are like this. Faulty pitcher design. You have to jam the filter in -in order for it to work properly. Only raised my water from 7 PH to 8 PH. One of the replacement filters I got does not work well. I researched alkaline pitchers for several months. Was going to buy on Amazon, but thought I'd check Vitacost on the off chance they would have one. I'm sure they researched it better than I. Very frustrating experience. I have been a happy Santevia customer for many years but now I have been experiencing defective filters that do not drain. I bought another MINA Pitcher and the filter that came with the pitcher worked perfectly but when it came time to replace the filter, it was also defective. I used your chat service online to report the difficulty and I was sent a new replacement filter in the mail that did not work either. If you have a Santevia remineralizing alkaline filter pitcher (and try saying that three times fast), these are what you need a new one of every couple of months. And AFAIK, the only way to get them is to order them directly from Santevia. (I didn't see any at London Drugs, at least, where we bought our pitcher.) So this review seems somewhat of a foregone conclusion—as these new cartridges are, presumably, identical to those that come with the pitchers. I had the larger original jug and when I switched to this more streamlined one I always get black sediment filter material in the bottom of my jug. Kind of unpleasant looking. The older model had a o ring rubber seal around it and this one does not. Wondering if this is the issue as I never had sediment in my water before. I’ve pushed it in harder I’ve tried everything that could be the problem but still a problem. Might just switch back to my old model that worked better and call this one a wash. This water filter is amazing. I've been using it everyday since I've purchased it. The water taste fresh and crisp, plus it's alkaline. If you drink a lot of water you may have to fill it twice a day but it's worth it. Another great thing about this product is that they give a piece of paper that says call for a free filter, and I did. And when I talk to the representative, she was amazing. The app only exists for iOS and there is no app for Android. My wife has an iPhone so she is the only one that can see the information. The app doesn't give you much insight about water quality and it's difficult to actually tell if the information it is giving you is up to date. You have to charge the wand about once every 3 weeks. It's a USB-C charging but does not come with a adapter to plug into an outlet. So you'd need one of those. Wire is very short. The instructions that came with the pitcher didn't match the pitcher itself. So set-up was a little confusing. Also, they decided to go with an unintuitive light blinking and color system. So you have to figure out what a "blinking wave" and how that differs from a slow blink. Wish they just did images or symbols instead. Overall, water is fine. Filter is fine. I have been using Larq pincher for several weeks now. In the beginning, I was attracted by the sleek design. Most filters look terrible and accumulate scale on the transparent body over time. I use a coffee machine and often change the unused water in it, because after a few days the color of the water changed. My old filter was deteriorating long before the official cartridge change date. Now I do not have such a problem, filtered water remains clean and fresh, odorless. In the beginning, I had to adapt to the taste, as I continued to drink bottled water for a long time, but then I got used to it. In my opinion, water tastes not much different from water filtered through a brand new regular filter, but Larq completely removes the smell of tap water. I wanted to love this pitcher so much, but it’s absolutely not possible. In the beginning everything seemed more-less okay but now I’ve been using it for a month and I really miss my old Brita pitcher. 1. The water does not taste great. With the Brita water tasted better. I’m somewhat of a water snob and there’s a huge difference. 2. It takes painstakingly long to filter the water. I filled the upper tank and after 15 minutes it’s less than halfway filtered. For the first few minutes it’s dripping in an almost acceptable speed but 15 minutes later it only drips one small drop every two seconds. After 25 minutes the upper tank is half full and I see a drop dripping every 5 seconds. I’m not even kidding, I wish I could add a video here. This is absolutely ridiculous. 3. I don’t know what the advanced filter is actually filtering out but the bottom of my water kettle is covered in white lime scale. I cleaned it right when I started using this pitcher. When using my old Brita pitcher that only started happening when it was time to change the filter. With the Larq pitcher it started happening right away. So this and the fact that the water does not taste good makes me question if it actually does filter anything out. 4. The battery of the wand runs out real fast. I’m wondering if it has to do with the filtering process taking so long. In conclusion – no, I would not ever recommend this product to anyone. I seriously don’t understand all the amazing reviews. The time it takes for filtering one round of water is absurd. I wish I would’ve seen a realistic review before ordering this. I’m really sorry for wasting my money on this pitcher. The pitcher wasn't what I expected. I'm mostly disappointed with the customer service and lack of any sort of return/ exchange policy that makes sense. I could have easily purchased this through a standard big box retailer with great return policies, but decided to purchase directly through LifeStraw to support the business directly. What a mistake. Returns and exchanges are apparently only honored for completely unused merchandise can't possibly make sense for a water pitcher. One has to reasonably fill it with water in order to test it. Although a great looking product, the 10 cup pitcher is so heavy and ergonomically challenging to use. I have guests visit that can't use my pitcher, only to put it down and ask me to pour them some water. How can this make any sense? Such a shame. I wanted to exchange the product to try out the 7 cup pitcher, but I'm not interested in sinking any more money into this company. Stay away and don't make the same mistake I did. This is a nice, easy to use design that filters quickly and provides really great-tasting water from mediocre-tasting tap water. I especially like how many different pollutants the filters are rated for removing, which is one of the main reasons I chose this over other products on the market. Lead, micro-plastics, and dissolved pharmaceuticals are three that I wanted to be able to reduce levels of. I opted for the glass pitcher to reduce the amount of plastic involved. The silicone base add-on was a good idea that I would recommend given the size and weight of a fully filled pitcher. It helps to cushion the bottom of the pitcher and makes it slightly grippy. I've only had this for about a month, so I can't speak to longevity of the design, but I haven't had any issues or complaints so far. The only mildly annoying aspect is that you can't fill the whole pitcher at once with a single fill of the filter reservoir. This is unavoidable with this kind of design: the reservoir has a smaller volume than the filter portion of the pitcher, and being a passive (non-pressurized) system, water only filters until the water height equalizes between the inside of the filter reservoir and the outside portion of the pitcher. Not a big deal since it filters quickly (a few minutes per fill, at most). I just top off the pitcher most times I use it and it's not been an issue. I keep getting emails to review this. Let's see if I can make it work this time. I bought my first glass pitcher in September 2021. A month or two ago the glass pitcher broke. I ordered a whole new pitcher and filter system, because that seemed to be the only option. I spent 60+ dollars on that (and I had just bought a years worth of filters prior to the pitcher breaking). I reached out to Customer service because I felt like something should be done and I was told that I would be sent a pitcher replacement. At that point I had already ordered the other pitcher and she said I could return it for a refund but I decided to keep it because I do like the system and I figured the pitcher will likely break again and so this way I have two. On my recent credit card statement it charged me twice. So I have not been given one as she said, I paid for both. I'm very disappointed in the whole Customer service process. I will use these Life Straw purchases until they break, but I will not be purchasing again and I cannot recommend. I'm tired of writing emails and reviews back and forth and it's just been an unsatisfactory experience in general. I love the glass pitcher idea, but this has been very frustrating and expensive. I have been looking at water filtration pitchers to try and reduce my plastic consumption by eliminating drinking from disposable water bottles. I have been dragging my feet, but after a trip to the dentist I went for it. Did you know most bottled waters add acid to their product to make it “taste fresh” as a person with weak enamel I need to do anything I can to protect my teeth. So, about the Pur water pitcher I got. I got the 11 cup pitcher in the brand new color smoke. It looks pretty dang sleek hanging out in my fridge. My family had a Brita when I was growing up, but I went with the Pur pitcher because it is certified to reduce 3 Times more. I love that it has a visual reminder to let me know when it is time to change my filter (green, yellow, and then red) because it I am just supposed to remember to change it two months from now, it is probably not going to happen. I bought this water pitcher since it filters out more contaminants than Brita. I followed all of the instructions for setup and when I first filled it, I definitely noticed it was slower than Brita, but it at least filtered the water in less than an hour. I've had this pitcher less than a month and now it has become EXTREMELY slow. Most of the time I will only see water filtering out of one hole on the bottom and at a very slow rate. It literally takes hours to fill a couple cups which is ridiculous. I looked up ways to fix this and the manufacture stated it could be clogged. I did exactly as they said. Took it out, shook it upside down at a slight angle for 5-6 seconds then put it back in. Did not change anything. On top of the ridiculously slow filtering, the lip on the pour spout often does not flip very well and causes water to spill on the side while pouring. This is a poorly-product. I even threw away by Brita to buy this, but I am not regretting that decision.Amanda
My filtered water is fresh, crisp and clean tasting thanks to my new pitcher. The improvement in taste from my tap water is so noticeable that I regret not getting this sooner. I have gotten so used to drinking tap water that the unpleasant after-taste doesn’t bother me as much, but I would probably drink more water if it tasted better. Buying bottled water all the time is expensive, plus it’s a chore to haul, requires too much space and creates unnecessary pollution. I still keep a few bottles for my guests but I needed a solution for myself. Getting this pitcher was that solution and is one of the best decisions I’ve made in a while. What initially drew me to this pitcher is the design. The color is a smoky gray, which gives it a sleek contemporary look. Another feature I like is the smart lid. The smart lid contains a light feature that informs you when the filter needs to be changed. I think this is so brilliant because it’s one less thing I have to keep track of. I bought the Zero Water 10 cup ready pour pitcher and Bed Bath &Beyond. I frequently use the reader to measure the ppm content in my filtered water and my tap water. After a few short weeks of using, the water started to taste weird. I sucked it up. The taste changed and now it tastes acidic? The reader still reads 000 ppm, but the taste is HORRIBLE. I offered water from the pitcher to my guest and they switched it out for tap water. How embarrassing! I don’t even feel like purchasing another filter because my current filter still functions, I just don’t know why the water tastes awful after being filtered. I’ve resorted to drinking tap water, rather than use this pitcher. Also, the 10 cups is an illusion. I fill it frequently because the filter takes up so much mass, it looks like there’s a lot of water in the pitcher when there is not. The only pro is I got it for a good deal. My tap has 236ppm TDS. THE ZERO WATER PITCHER WATER READS 0 per claim. The taste is pretty good. Best part, so far, my stainless steel electric tea kettle doesn’t need a vinegar cleanse 1-2x per week. On some sites many people claim the meter reads above .006 after very few refills. That happened to me when I overfilled the pitcher and some tap water mixed with the filtered water. Now I pay more attention and so far the meter still reads .00. Walmart has a generous return policy so i have plenty of time to evaluate this purchase. I have only had this a week. I have filled it about 6-7 times. So far so good!PS
I first learned about Zero water from a client who worked testing water for a large company and raved that this was the best water filtration system. Fast forward many, many years later, when I was diagnosed with a thyroid issue, and the doctor recommended I filter my water because the thyroid was compromising my immune system. I was hugely concerned when I saw how slow it was after rinsing the filter. It doesn’t stay that way, it speeds up. LifeStraw should mention that in the instructions. You do have to add water a few times for a full container, but that’s why it’s so visually appealing as well, so I’m fine with the trade-off as it will be sitting in view. It filters faster at the beginning if you submerge and soak the round filter for an hour+, then do the minute faucet rinse. Install and you’re perfect! Love the quality and attention to detail of the product, and that it removes microplastics. Men, sperm rates have fallen by 50% worldwide since the introduction of Tupperware, and they affect female hormones as well. We are very pleased with the performance of the Lifestraw glass pitcher. As the instructions indicate, the flow performance improves after a few fill-ups: Prior to that, filtering took a very long time. The water is tasteless, and odorless. It seems pure, and clean, meeting those basic expectations. The pitcher design is a nice complement to the counter, and the lid and other sub-assemblies are well engineered, the assembly is high quality, the seals are tight, and it all looks very durable. Overall, the performance of the system is (far) superior to Britta. We have to maneuver the pitcher a bit to get it under the tap for filling. Sink depth, plus the faucet height might cause problems in some kitchens. One disappointment was the packaging that was used for shipping. Inasmuch as it is a glass pitcher and needs protection, and cushioning in transit, one hopes Lifestraw will find a way to reduce the packaging .wasteGene S.

I was floored to see this product lives up to its name "Zero Water". I also bought bottled water from 4 different places, and those bottles of water had a medium score of 117 of contaminates found in them. I’m not happy with my zero water. I used the meter that came with it and the water never below 7. It started out reading very high (above 200) and I figured the filter needed to be flushed. As I flushed the filter several times, the reading came down to 100s then below 100 and finally stayed around 50-60 for about a week then started reading around 8-10. I was using the picture on the counter and not in the fridge. Then I noticed it started tasting like mildew. I had to stop using it. I only used it about 2 weeks. I have thoroughly cleaned the picture but now I need a new filter and don’t have the money right now. I cannot find the classic filters at my local shop where I first encountered the Santevia water filtration systems. I am a one-person household. one filter lasts me for months! Even if it's beyond what it is recommended, the water still tastes the same. The only thing I HATE is not only there's no recycle collection program like brita, it is very challenging to open the filter up to remove the charcoal and recycle the plastic separately. (I rarely use the word HATE) Please make it as easy as the MINA.Daphne
A few months ago our Brita broke and we replaced it with the Santevia. We haven't been disappointed. One problem we had with our Brita was that when you poured it out near the end of the tank the filter would fall out. The Santevia stays put and doesn't fall out which is great! Most of all I love that not only does it filter but it also re-mineralizes and alkalizes! Everything I could ask for in a water filter, plus I love that I don't have to remember when to change it because I counts down for you. I wanted an inexpensive way to filter out fluoride from my tap water. I haven't tested the filtered water, but this pitcher is easy to use and worthwhile if it does indeed filter out fluoride. But there is no indicator to let you know when a new filter is needed and the plastic is quite flimsy. I will reserve judgement on the effectiveness till after I test the water.Stonelf

| Directions | For Water Quality Meter: Remove cap, turn on, submerge in water, change filter when it reads 006 or higher. Troubleshooting Try These Tips: 1. Not getting a 000 reading? Ensure that the filter is threaded correctly and fully seated in the water reservoir. Watch for cross-threading and ensure that the rubber gasket is seated properly and has not gotten stuck in one of the threads. 2. Rinse and dry your pitcher/dispenser, TDS meter, and parts completely. Left over tap water, soap residue or a dirty TDS meter may give false meter readings. 3. Check the 0-ring on your filter. If there is no 0-ring present on your filter, unfiltered tap water will flow around the filter and into the dispenser. 4. Make sure you are pouring your filtered water into a clean glass. My husband heard about Zero Water from a coworker. We were previously using a Brita Pitcher. I like the size and versatility of two different ways to get the water. It does taste better than Brita….it doesn’t taste like anything actually, so that’s a major plus in my book. It also filters faster. We are in a small trailer with no other filtration system so when you’re making gumbo or spaghetti or something that uses a lot of water, you don’t want to wait around half the day to get the water!! My daughter and I bought our water filters on the same day (at Walmart). I bought zero water and she bought the Britta. I was so undecided because I had never heard of the zero water and wasn't sure if it was any good. The tester is what did it for me cause I wanted to know more regarding my own water supply. We got home (we are neighbors with same water supply) and I tested my tap water which read at 294.. After running it through once it read at zero…i was shocked and it tastes so good. This really works. I then asked her to bring small amount out of her britta filtered water so we could see the difference between the 2. After showing her the TDS for the tap water at 294 we tested her filtered water and it still read at 294.. She was upset and went home to order herself a zero water and returned hers back to Walmart. I am still so happy I went with the zero water. I have been drinking more water since and it don't tastes funky anymore.SallyR
Bought this thinking it would be a big difference from my Britta pitcher. It is much heavier when filled both because of the filter size and weight and because the pitcher I bought is larger. It is better designed in that there is a place to put your fingers on the front of the pitcher when pouring the water. I used the water quality measuring device once before it stopped working. I thought to buy new batteries, because who knows how long these were sitting in the box. Getting the batteries out of this device is not easy. There is no way to know how to insert the new batteries if you don't pay attention, and the instructions ignore this totally, so they are no help either. As there is no way integrated into the pitcher to measure the filter's life or quality, there is really no way to know when to replace the filter if you do not use their device…so you need to try to get it to work. Overall this was more expensive than the Britta filter and pitcher, and the replacement filters are so much more expensive. Not sure whether I will stick with this, but my water is so bad that I really need to give it a longer try.BB&B Customer
