Such a brilliant, beautiful book! Hope my daughter will be super inspired by this.
Beautiful book for little girls to grow up readingMakaylli
This colourful board book goes through an alphabet of work options available for girls when they grow up. I really appreciated the diversity in this book, in the jobs explored and the girls pictured. The jobs traverse traditional male and female jobs, from pilots and teachers to yoga instructors and quantum physicists. Because girls from around the world are represented, young girls looking through this book should be able to identify personally with at least one girl. There are girls with blonde hair, red hair and dark hair. One girl is wearing a hijab. Another is in a wheelchair. Girls are wearing dresses, skirts, pants and uniforms. I would have liked P to be for president but the end of the book does specify that the jobs mentioned are only some of the options so I'd be adding that one if I read this to a young girl. "O is for Optometrist. She checks our eyes to make sure we see clearly." Because this is a board book I had hoped it would be told in rhyme and was disappointed that it wasn't. It was written in a down to earth way that makes the different jobs easy to understand but I found it a bit too matter of fact. This is the type of book I expect people would buy for a baby shower but I couldn't imagine myself wanting to read it over and over. Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster Jr. for granting my wish to read this book.Schizanthus Nerd

Reviews:
If your child loves Grover, he will absolutely love this! My son smiles every time we read this.C
I actually first came across this book when I first dated my now husband. He has a daughter and he had this copy at his house for when she visited. When we had our son, he'd read this book to him and he liked looking at the pictures of Grover bending in the shapes of the letters of the alphabet. He also liked it when I'd take his finger and trace the letters with it. He's stil too young to say his abc's, but it's his only favorite book. In fact, I had to buy another copy here on eBay cause we lost the other book on a plane… I would recommend this book to any young toddler or child intereste in the alphabet or something different from the boring fabric books… Enjoy!!!flaca22583

11. The Ultimate Alphabet: Complete Edition [Book]

Product Details:
The artist mike wilks set out in the 1980s to depict as many words as possible in twenty-six images corresponding to the alphabet. his four-year painting odyssey resulted in a suite of magnificent compilations, all minutely detailed, masterfully rendered, and slightly surreal. each image contains hundreds of items all starting with the same letter. it is a mind-blowing and enjoyably engaging task to attempt to identify all of the objects. one wonders at the artist accomplishing this seemingly herculean artistic endeavor. the reader need not go crazy, however, trying to name all of the words represented in the images (at last count, 7,825!). numbered line drawings accompanied by lists of words serve as keys to the paintings. in examining the paintings carefully, one can check one's finds against the keys and in doing so will discover new words, as well as take delight in the process of examining the art carefully. it's art appreciation and a game of discovery, all in one. the images in this book were first published in 1986 in the best-selling the ultimate alphabet, and later in the annotated ultimate alphabet, in which keys to the images were included. now, the ultimate alphabet: complete edition brings these two volumes together in this deluxe slipcase edition. one volume presents the paintings with introductory text by the artist; the other offers the keyed drawings and alphabetical lists of words. there has never been anything like mike wilks's the ultimate alphabet, and it's high time for it to come back into print, in this revised complete edition.

We actually bought this for our son when he was only 1 and he has probably read it every night since then, but since he was so young then, he kind of destroyed it. Wasn't very age appropriate back then, but he LOVES this book, so we just bought it for the second time. He is 5 years old now and he was so excited and happy to have a new copy, with all the pop outs and picture pieces working again. Such a fun kids book!!NeeNee18
Van Fleet's books are delightful for both children and adults. This one is full of surprises, which my year old grand daughter loves. Such a great price–I purchased another as gift.Book lover
My 14 month old loves other Matthew Van Fleet books (specifically Heads, Tails, Moo, Cat, and Dog). They have been his favorite books to read since he was about 8 months old. He loves the touch and feel parts, the movement parts, and the similar rhythm of those books. This book just does not hold his attention in the same way…the rhyming is not consistent and the animal names are just too unfamiliar. We've had this book for a few weeks now and he still doesn't like me to read it…he always tries to close it before I even finish the book, which he never does with his other Van Fleet books. This could have been so much better.briabeaner

These books were perfect for what we needed. We gave them out in a Christmas parade to get a book into children's hands. Thanks for making them so affordable that we could do that!!Jennifer
I bought these for my online classroom with VIPKID because I wanted to have some nice flashcards with a capital letter and lowercase, combined with photos of things that start with a letter on them. I was having a hard time finding what I really wanted when I just stumbled on these. I am very happy with the price for what you get. The books are about as small as you could possibly make a book, but they also give examples of long and short sounds, which isn't always the case for letter books. I am very pleased with my purchase. The covers are sturdy paperbacks and the printing is a nice quality.catzpawz

I saw an ad for this book on Facebook and immediately thought it would be a great baby shower gift. Once it came in I was so happy with my purchase. It's great quality and the illustrations are adorable. The message these books send is even greater, all types of people are included!Leigh J.
I love these books. This one is GREAT for woman’s history month – I teach kindergarten and my students love to learn about these amazing females! Nice variety of legends too 🙂 The simple drawings are so fun, colorful, and engaging. Highly recommend !Amanda M.
