Beauty and glamour meet deception and revenge in this electrifying novel by new york times bestselling author amanda quick. investigative apprentice lyra brazier, the newest resident of burning cove, is unsettled when her boss suddenly disappears. lyra knows something has happened to raina kirk, and tracks down her last known appearance at an exclusive hotel and health spa. the health spa is known for its luxurious offerings and prestigious clientele, and the wealthy, socialite background lyra desperately wanted to leave behind is perfect for this undercover job. what lyra lacks in investigative experience she makes up for in gut instinct, and her gut isn’t happy that she’s saddled with a partner by luther pell, raina’s dangerous lover, who wants to bring in someone with more experience to help. instead of the suave, pistol-packing private eye she expected, though, simon cage is a mild-mannered antiquarian book dealer with a quiet, academic air, and a cool, remote gaze. lyra suspects that simon is much more than what he seems, and her instincts are confirmed when they arrive at the spa and pose as a couple: simon has a unique gift that allows him to detect secrets, a skill that is crucial in finding raina. the unlikely duo falls down a rabbit hole of twisted rumors and missing socialites, discovering that the health spa is a façade for something far darker than they imagined. with a murderer in their midst, raina isn't the only one in grave danger—lyra is next.

Im just finishing the book, Great Read holds interest and want to keep reading.fisskf.nyuczq
After Burning Cove's newest resident, Lyra Brazier, begins her career as a novice investigator her boss disappears and she's left to mind the business. Feeling that there is something odd about Raina Kirk's disappearance, she let's Raina's paramour, Luther Pell, know she will be investigating. Not wanting to let Lyra head out on her own, he sends in his part-time investigator, Simon Cage. Whew. What an interesting book! We have mobsters, WWI conspirators, kidnappers, deviants, murderers, blackmailers, and more! Set in the time period between the Great War and WWII, essentially the Golden Age of Hollywood, it is so fabulous to be able to 'see' in your minds eye, the vehicles, clothing, mannerisms, and hotels of that time. The mystery was well done, the romance was spot on, and we were taken back to Burning Cove again to see some of the characters we were introduced to in prior Burning Cove books. Sprinkled with a bit of Amanda Quick's well known paranormal tidbits, it was just right. Will there be another Burning Cove book? I hope so!!Perriknows
2. Don't Look Back [Book]
Product Details:
In this most entrancing tale of mystery and romance by the new york times bestselling author amanda quick, lovers and partners-in-crime investigators lavinia lake and tobias march continue their exciting newfound relationship, with its delicious mix of risky business, rising passion, and now–murder. as if a head for business and a nose for trouble aren’t enough to distinguish fiercely independent lavinia lake from the other women of london’s fashionable claremont lane, there is one more feature to set her apart. lavinia is also well versed in the practice of mesmerism, an extraordinary gift that far surpasses mere charm and physical appeal. nobody knows this better than the usually coolheaded tobias march, who seems to have fallen hopelessly under her spell. fortunately for all, however, lavinia uses her powers for good. and ever since a tragedy involving one of her subjects, she has even retired them in favor of her work with lake and march, a joint venture providing “discreet private inquiries for individuals of quality.” celeste hudson, the stunningly beautiful young wife of a family friend and fellow mesmerist, would surely count herself among such individuals–were she still alive, that is. while mythology’s medusa could turn men to stone, lovely celeste was more accustomed to turning them to jelly. in fact, unbeknownst to her husband, howard, the ambitious celeste was planning to use her talents to forge a new future in society–one that would not include him. sadly, her plans were cut short when she was murdered. only a gentleman’s cravat wound around her lovely neck remained for evidence–small compensation for the strange and priceless bracelet that may have been snatched from her wrist as she drew her last breath.as a result, lake and march are soon in howard hudson’s employ on the trail of the killer. but tobias is convinced the dashing widower is more interested in tracking down the missing relic. if so, howard is not alone. any number of ruthless types are after the very same antiquity, whose centerpiece is an unusual blue cameo of inestimable value and supposed legendary powers–powers of immeasurable worth to anyone in howard’s line of work. together, lake and march undertake a tantalizing investigation that leads them from the glittering ballrooms of the ton to london’s seediest taverns to a mesmerist whose therapies include treating ladies suffering from “hysteria” is a a most unconventional method–and, not least of all, to the darkest reaches of men’s psyches. along the way, don’t look back becomes a completely mesmerizing read as the irrepressible lavinia and tobias mix business with pleasure….
Reviews:
'Don't Look Back' by Amanda Quck features her Regency sleuths, Lavinia Lake and Tobias March. It's not one of Amanda Quick's best stories or series, but it is still amusing and entertaining. While the book is written in the familiar Amanda Quick style, I have to say that I didn't really warm to the characters of Lavinia and Tobias in the same way that I have some of her other characters.
I have never been disappointed with a book by this author . I truly enjoyed this one.mjg789

This was an okay book.. I was expecting something more like White Lies. This book didn't really hold my interest like others have held. I was unsure as to where this book would be in the reading circle of the series. It would be nice if the Authors would let us know as to which one get read first, then the resat of the series.lady_kenworth

Reviews:
Francine has done a phenomenal job in translating the book of Hosea in the era of the Gold Rush. This story is about redemption of a young woman who had little choices in life. The first edition of this story I think was the best. Other editions had changes that I felt left a more vanilla view. I would recommend this book as a good read for anyone but especially for those who want to understand more deeply the scriptures. I went straight to the book of Hosea and read the whole thing with different eyes!hooverjax
Redeeming Love is one of those rare books that, while relating the main characters' stories, also tells our own. Angel is a young woman brutalized by many and dismissed by the rest as a lost cause, but when Michael Hosea enters the picture, Angel is given the opportunity to change the future that she believed to be set in stone. Though beginning to love an entirely different kind of life, the past confronts Angel through Michael's embittered brother-in-law and her own unnerving suspicion that she will be found unworthy in the end. In a desperate move to remember who she was before she was given the name 'Angel,' she returns to the confines of the city, only to stumble upon a freedom and sense of purpose she never believed she could find. Unaffected and honest, Francine Rivers weaves a story of unconditional love at its finest, pulling readers in and convincing them, page by page, that it cannot be set aside.Alexandria M
Purchased this book many years ago in a Christian book store near Hilton Head while vacationing there. The sales agent said: If you love Christian fiction books, I promise you this one is one you will always remember…… I purchased it and could not put it down or get away from its message! Does God really Love someone like Michael loved Angel even when she is unfaithful time and again..? I could go on but the book of Hosea in the Bible will never be the same to me again after reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers… Highly recommend this book-I purchase it for gifts now….1964ski

I ended up only using the Enhanced Payroll subscription part of this purchase because my workstation is still running Windows 7 (I really don't like the Windows 10 interface). I am posting this review because I was unable to find any information about whether the Enhanced Payroll portion of this package can be used with the original Desktop versions (non-Plus). The answer, luckily for me, is absolutely yes. You can give the QuickBooks support person the License # and Payroll Product # (sent to you after purchase of the software) and after a looooong wait, they will give you a new payroll key to enter in QB. They also canceled my previous (about to expire) subscription so I wouldn't get charged for the auto-renewal. I suggest contacting QB help by pressing F1 w/in QB, then clicking the Contact Us button at the bottom of help page. It was a fairly painless process. Good luck!Troy B.
I bought Quick Books Pro 2022 edition last year thru Best Buy as a download for $265. Quick Books just sent me an email that they are taking a price increase and my new annual fee will be $549. They've "enhanced" their product. I understand a price increase year to year. Perhaps 10%…..still above our standard of living increases……BUT A 100% INCREASE!!!!!!!!! I will never ever recommend them. What a terrible company to treat small businesses like this. Disgusting.Nicole Foster
I have used Quickbooks for many many years and I upgraded to Quickbooks Pro 2021 and this has got to be the worst program I have ever worked with. This version has so many defects it's not even funny. Customer support can't even figure out what all's wrong with it and I've spent over 3 hours the last phone call. It won't print 1099s, it won't show me the whole screen, it won't widen columns and there are several other problems. Quickbooks can't resolve any issues and yet they refuse to give me my money back.Marsha Bedwell

Reviews:
The story starts off when Miss Virginia Dean,a glass light reader wakes up one night in the home of a client with a dead body and a bloody knife in her hands. The body is Lord Hollister, the husband of Viginia's client whom she suspects raped and murdered his own daughter. Virginia is rescued by Owen Sweetwater,a private investigator of paranormal cases with his own private agenda. Owen is investigating the mysterious deaths of two glass light reader who died in the hands of what he suspects is a psychical killer. As Virginia and Owen work together to solve the case,he begins to suspect that she is the one woman for him… I was a fan of Amanda Quick historical romances, but this one focuses more on the mystery element rather than on the romance between the hero and heroine.I find that The Arcane Society books focus too much on the mystery,so don't expect a romance when reading this book.stardust_dreams Nguyen

Reviews:
This book highlighted some disturbingly familiar issues in our society which takes place in an unfamiliar, wild and unforgiving environment. It takes the reader on a journey of emotional highs and lows. It has all the elements which touch our heart; love, hope, tragedy and disappointment. It shows the characters as complex multi dimensional beings, which we come to understand as their stories unfold.Maggie
As a cradle Catholic, I found this book difficult. I struggled with the perspective of being written by Jesus' wife Ana. It would have been more in keeping with my upbringing if the perspective had been that of Mary Magdalen. I usually pass my books along, I will not do that with this book. Our book club has a diverse membership, our Jewish members are not familiar with the New Testament, and they struggled with keeping the characters straight. Our Indian members had similar struggles, but they had some knowledge of the complete Bible. We are a well educated group of women, doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers, etc. Definitely not a book I will recommend.RosieG
Audible version review: The story was decent and the narration was great. However, when she described anything, everything, and all things, the book became incredibly, astonishingly, and boringly repetitive . I don't need 3 adjectives to describe the color blue (cerulean, turquoise and crystal) , the snow sitting on the mountain (bright white with a million sparkling diamonds in the shining sun) AND the sound of the boat as it laps, slaps, and caresses the waves. It got to the point that I would entertain myself by counting the number of adjectives the author gave each time she describe what something looked like. If you think this review is boring, then you are getting the picture.sheri.g

Reviews:
This book kept me at the edge of my seat. I wanted to know what happened to the young couple. The development of the story is brilliant. Each page slowly brings its readers some clarity on what went on before the disappearance. Family and friendship themes were woven through each character's lives. Each motivation acted upon the differences in their circumstances and social stature. The characters draw emotions depending on whose point of view is on the page. The characterization of mothers and the differences were put into focus here. Teenagers, cliques, self-discovery, and the mistakes they make are all glaring in this book. The resolution at the end for the younger woman was tight, not the typical happy ending since she didn't come back unscathed. Also, in conclusion, with one of the characters, the secrets he possesses just leave one stunned.Jane reads

this book was good! the second i got it i was so excited to read it! however, i was partially disappointed and DNF'ed around page 200 but later picked it up again. on my second try, i was invested and the reveal had me SOBBING! (UPCOMING SPOILERS WATCH OUT!!!!) i feel like pip changed personality too quick at the end, being a good girl obsessed with her grades and then blandly coming out super publicly that she cheated on her EPQ (i don't actually remember what it was called…) is just out of character and it's a really quick behavioural change….
A good girls guide to murder started off strong and ended with such an unexpected scene that I couldn't wait to pick up the next book. I loved Pippa and Ravi's dynamic friendship and how it played such a heartwarming role in the story. Even when the crime was solved, I had a hard time believing how Holly perfectly fit him as the villain while making him seem innocent and detached from the crime. I am very excited to continue the series and read more of Holly Jackson's books I one hundred percent recommend this series. Please put it in your book list or read it! It is the best murder mystery I have read❤️Reading is life
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely adored this book. It is a YA mystery/ thriller. With that being said, this is one of the best YA books I have read. The plot and character development were amazing. There were multiple characters throughout the book, but they were really easy to keep track of. I really enjoyed seeing the emails and interview transcripts throughout the book. It made me feel like I was Pip trying to solve this mystery. And let me tell you, I was totally shocked by whodunnit. I am a HUGE true crime podcast lover, so when I started this book it really reminded me of the podcast serial when they cover Adnan Syed’s case. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone, especially if you liked this book. And vice versa. I was please that this book did not seem like it was modeled exactly from this real life case though, and just had some similarities.jordan.w

Reviews:
Emily Henry has done it again. This book made me laugh so hard I woke up the neighbor's dog at 6am (sweet revenge). I laughed, I cried and I didn't want it to end while dying to know how it ended. If you like Rom Com then this should be your first summer read this year. I kept sending screen shots of pages to my friends. It is a witty read with a romance between a characters that would get dumped in a Hallmark romance. Just go read it!Kristen

Reviews:
I absolutely love Amanda Quick's writing style. She manages to combine historical accuracy with wit, warmth, action and true love to create books which will have you turning pages as quickly as possible while still leaving you emotionalyy satisfied with the book at the end (don't scoff, its an element that few authors manage to achieve and which can totally wreck a story if not achieved). I highly recommend this book to all lovers of romance, even if historical is not your thing you will still love it.
If you're looking for a lovely humorous romantic novel, then this is a book for you…..sualle_4
I love this book, it's one of Quick's best. The hero is the best take of the tortured, suffering male as I have ever seen and I found it very refreshing that for once the heroine did not immediately crumble under pressure and believe the rumours and gossip. Very highly recommended.Henna Hyytia

Reviews:
This is one of the my favorite fantasy novels ever! Although some of the author's other books seem much more geared for children, this one doesn't have that over-simplified feel. It's incredibly fast-paced and keeps the reader engaged the whole way through. One hell of an adventure. Very creative, never a dull moment, never feels formulaic. I highly recommend.farronn
I had high hopes for this book. I'd heard Neil Gaiman was an interesting writer…and he IS imaginative. He's technically a GOOD writer, too. Thing is, for me, anyway, the book was just too bizarre. In order to take a literary trip down the rabbit hole, I have to at least care a little bit about the characters I follow down it. I didn't. They weren't interesting to me or relatable. I found the overall assortment of characters to be too twisted and disgusting to engage with, and the world they inhabited was too dismal. And frankly, the book as a whole was just too dull, as well. I am sure for some this book would be a mind opening romp. Just not so much for me.rivendell01
This is one of my favorite Gaiman books. If you're into a dark, gothic, fantasy fairy tale than this is for you. If trying to describe it for some, I'd say it's a mix of Stranger Things (Netflix show) & Bloodborne (video game). A dark city under London full of creatures & certain dangers. It's a must read and a great start if you're interested in starting a Gaiman collection.cwilliams119
