This product is great for all ability artists. Especially for those, like myself, who are beginners and want to learn technigue but are interested in the different types of art. There is a whole range of types of art to learn. It's also the right mix of pictures and words. I struggle with ones that are to wordy. It also gives technigue rather than copying others. So you can learn to do your own thing and not just copy other peoples art.Alice27B

11. How To Draw What You See [Book]
Product Details:
The 35th anniversary edition of the classic how-to book that has helped millions of artists learn to draw.when it was originally published in 1970, how to draw what you see zoomed to the top of watson-guptill’s best-seller list—and it has remained there ever since. “i believe that you must be able to draw things as you see them—realistically,” wrote rudy de reyna in his introduction. today, generations of artists have learned to draw what they see, to truly capture the world around them, using de reyna’s methods. how to draw what you see shows artists how to recognize the basic shape of an object—cube, cylinder, cone, or sphere—and use that shape to draw the object, no matter how much detail it contains.
Reviews:
I bought this book because it was required for a college course I was taking. Now that I have been actually using it I am sure I will keep it and add it to my library. It has a lot of visual aids in it to help you understand the subject. I find this very helpful because I am a very visual person and prefer to see something done before I try to do it myself. It's not excessively wordy like the other book I had to have for this class. Very clear and concise.peacefulpanda75
I had this book years ago and it was an assigned book for a class but it comes in very handy for beginning drawers and seasoned alike. The section on portrait drawing was especially helpful. The break down on the sections of the face, where to place the eyes, nose and mouth can save a lot of time and tears in getting a closer resemblance from the beginning. Over all I like the book. Some places I felt it was overly technical in the illustration, as in the the chapter on drawing the figure. I would have much rather seen more gesture drawing but this is not Mr. De Reyna's style. So, whether you are a beginner or someone who just draws for fun this book will give you a good foundation for very nice drawings.djsn53
I bought this book for myself. I love to draw and paint, but my pictures didn't look realistic. This book is very helpful. I only wish there was also a DVD that went with it. I am a very visual learner.reasa7738

Wonderful and useful book thank you 1000xaandrea7
This book was the best in terms of kicking off my drawing skills. I've had other books but they never included the level of teaching detail like here. I would gladly say to anyone that you only need this book if you want to brush up on skill. Though of course we all like to collect several books on a subject 🙂 I enjoy free form painting and drawing, but I decided it was time that I focused on technical skill, something I had avoided over the years. This book made it very achievable and enjoyable. A side benefit is that I now have a deeper appreciation of quality drawings. It also freed up my attitude – mistakes (and there are many!) are correctable and normal in the process of achieving the final work. I go with the flow now, and it's great.Simon
This is not the first copy of this book I have purchased. Someone borrowed my CD and it was never returned. So very nice to have. Recommend this book if you are serious about improving your drawing skills.hotwheelgram

16. Sketching: Drawing Techniques For Product Designers [Book]
Product Details:
Are designers still making drawings by hand? isn't it more advanced to use a computer in this computer era? some may think sketching is a disappearing skill, but if you ever enter a design studio, you will find out differently. studios still make sketches and drawings by hand and in most cases, quite a lot of them. they are an integral part of the decision-making process, used in the early stages of design, in brainstorming sessions, in the phase of research and concept exploration, and in presentation. drawing has proved to be, next to verbal explanation, a powerful tool for communicating not only with fellow designers, engineers or model makers but also with clients, contractors and public offices. this book can be regarded as a standard book on design sketching, useful for students in product design.
