20 Best Backpacks With Water Bottle Holder (2023 Update)

I purchased this about a month ago and have used it for bike rides exploring Winnipeg for trips up to 30km. Overall this pack is of excellent quality and design. It fits comfortably, does not slide around, and the design allows for air flow between the pack and my back. It has all the space I'd ever want in a pack like this. Bike tools packed in the bottom pouch. Locking cable in the outer pocket. Can easily fit a large book and snacks, or light sweater inside, even when the water bladder is full with room to spare. Smaller pouches to store wallet and cell phone. Easy access pouches on the belt are good to put some energy bars. The water hose was a bit short and I had to reroute the hose through the other side of the bladder so it had enough length to attach to the clasp. Problem solved. The only dislike I have is the magnetic clasp that anchors the mouth piece of the bladder to the sternum strap. It gets easily knocked off and dangles. Also, when setting the bag down the mouth piece touches the ground (no guard provided for it). These are minor issues that a creative mind can easily find a way to deal with.Charles

Historically, I've not liked riding with packs. They are hot on climbs and can be cumbersome on descents. Before I got this pack, I would sacrifice carrying a 1st aid kit, jacket, and ride with limited water, choosing a lumbar pack over a full sized pack. This pack has changed my strategy. It's way more breathable compared to my Evoc Enduro 16L I used before this and the suspension is comparable, if not better. Now, if a ride length is somewhere in between hip pack and full pack I will always go for the Raptor 14. Some notable changes and minor issues: The tool pouch is a rad feature, but my tube and tools are integrated on my bike so I've removed the tool roll and my 1st aid kit and a small bottle of chain lube live in the pouch now. I'm 6'3" and although the pack can adjust to fit me I feel like it still runs a bit short for length… but its not enough to steer tall people away from this pack. The hydration hose magnet is on the weak side and will come loose occasionally, plus the lack of power from the magnet means you have to know where to secure the hose after use as it won't find itself and snap into place. Additionally its location is awkward in that I can feel the bite valve rubbing on the inside of my arm, below my armpit sometimes.Grady

I love this pack. I work in the mountain biking industry and ride every day at work but use this pack mainly on personal rides. I tend to overpack for every ride no matter how short. My favorite feature is the tool roll. Holds tire levers, patches, a bacon kit, derailleur hanger and spare parts, etc. I love how it has a piece of fabric sewed on that acts as a little work station so you don't lose any small parts on the trail. I also stash a tube in the compartment the tool roll lives in. Inside there's room for a pump and a shock pump if you're into carrying one of those. I also carry a small med kit and there's still tons of room for a jacket or snacks if going on a full day ride. I like the kangaroo pouch on the front of the pack. I use it to carry some pretty bulky kneepads and occasionally run the straps through a full face helmet. It's nice that there's a separate compartment for the reservoir. The zipper that goes down the length of the pack strap is a little weird but it makes it easy to get the reservoir in and out. It's simple to compress the pack down if there's less gear and it's not so large that you'll look strange carrying it on a 3 mile ride. My only small complaint is the reservoir itself. I think the zip top is a far better design than Camelbaks I have used, but if I didn't lock the bite valve it would constantly drip. When I got my reservoir it came with a one peice hose. I bought the Osprey quick release hose kit and replaced the bite valve with a Camelbak bite valve and the reservoir is much better than stock. I did have to freeze it and use lots of baking soda and it still tastes like plastic a bit but not nearly as bad tasting as my last Camelbak.jsb

Teton Oasis 22 vs 18 … get the 22! They are almost the same size, but the 22 is a bit wider and has a more useful storage profile. You can't tell the difference between the packs when wearing them, except at the 22 really does fit more. Also, the 22 comes with a 3 gallon water bladder instead of 2 gallon. Background: I own expensive packs from Osprey, The North Face, Camelback, Gregory, etc. Oasis Teton is the best value price pack I own, for the money. For $60 you have features that are very comparable to $150+ pack, with a very high quality, construction and tremendous thought put into usability and comfort. Add US based awesome customer service = no brainer PROs: – Comfort back & shoulder padding. Allows ventilation, sweat, breathability. – removable rainfly cover included. This means that if you end up in a heavy rainstorm, you can keep your pack completely dry! – Pack is already water resistant – excellent US based customer service. I called to find out. Answer on a few rings, ready to do whatever is needed to maintain your satisfaction. – well thought out compartments – water compartment/laptop compartment – includes 3 gallon water bladder (untested by me) – Quality/reinforced construction – this pack easily withstood wear and tear on wet, muddy adventures with sharp rocks. In comparison, no namebrand Costco backpacks have torn under similar circumstances, but the material of this pack was significantly better. No tears and any dirt wiped up very easily. – good looking colors – could replace water bladder with a 13.3" or 14" laptop (but not room for both) – waist straps can tuck up into the side elastic pouches, if desired CONS: – A trade-off in waist/belt comfort (compared to market leader Osprey) – A very small trade-off in quality (compared to market leader Osprey) – debatable if there is much difference – I did not test the water bladder, which will be a significant variable for many people I used this pack for a weeklong vacation in Hawaii. Bought this to hike and have water available instead of toting bottles of it. Nice pack. It's winter so I haven't been able to use the bladder because I'm sure the water will freeze. Below 0 here. I did use it for my other items. It is small but I didn't want a big one just one to hike smaller hikes like 10 miles a shot. Not happy with the cord in the front. The plastic drawstring toggle spring stop (cord lock) never tightened and fell off my FIRST hike with the pack. Now I tie the cord instead of using the toggle spring stop. If they could send me a replacement, I'll be all set. Can't wait to actually use the bladder.Darlene S.

We started looking for new hiking packs after our recent trip to Yellowstone. I had a 22L pack that was more like a stuff sack. It only had the one main compartments and it made it hard to find things when you’d have to dig around and take everything out. I’m always apprehensive to buy the expensive brand gear because, in my experience, you can find brands like Teton that have amazing quality products that will last just as long if not longer. So many pockets! My main reason for buying. You have enough storage and enough pockets to make sure you have everything you need – extra clothes, first aid, hydration, snacks, you name it! Super comfy too with all the padding on the back. I also picked it because it wasn’t too big and wasn’t too small. My husband and I are day hikers/explorers so this pack is perfect for that. Best part – built in space for a rain cover! They thought of everything with this bag, so if you’re on the fence, get down and go buy this pack!!Caity K.

The bag is nice, it is great for our day trips or just for quick walks around our lake/local communities, and I love that it has the side pockets for bottles or other items. I have not used it for any long hikes yet, so have been using it without the water pouch, but I'm sure that will work just fine knowing camelback water packs. The reason I give this a 4 star rating instead of 5 has more to do with the feel of the pack while wearing it. It could use better straps with more support and cushioning, though they are by far not the worst straps out there, just could be a bit better. I also find it leads my back feeling a bit sore even with a pretty light load, I am continuing to try different strap lengths to try to get around this and hope this is user error more than an issue with the pack design, but I have not yet been able to find a sweet spot that works well for my back. This might also be something that would improve with including the water pouch inside the pack, but that will be an experiment for another day. My rating does not take this into account since I still have faith in the pack, I just knocked it a star for not having better straps, I would love to see camelback up its strap game on their packs as this has seemed to me to be a fairly common thing when I've looked at their packs.Elliott P

i like this bag! it’s a little stiff to start but after a couple wears it’s gotten more comfy on my back. I wanted a good sized camelbak to bring on day hikes and i was torn between this and the Mule and i’m glad i got the Cloud Walker! i compared it to my partners Camelbak Mule and it is almost the exact same size, the Cloud Waker extends out more to fit more stuff but the footprint is almost identical if that makes sense. a few things that make it 4/5: – it comes with a 2.5L reservoir instead of 3L but the side pockets make it super easy to carry extra water and a 3L reservoir will fit inside if you have an extra one. – be careful with closing the reservoir. there’s something weird about the seal that makes it super finicky to close properly. this hasn’t been an issue with other camelbak reservoirs i’ve owned. it’s fine once it’s closed but make sure you have it sealed right before you put it into your bag. this is the main reason i’m giving it 4/5 stars – the shoulder strap clasp seems cheaper than the ones on my other backpacks and i’m worried it might eventually break? it hasn’t yet so maybe i shouldn’t fault it for that. overall this is a good little bag! i’m really happy with it.ann_

I bought this for my grandson. It’s a nice backpack but it was dirty. It was wrapped but the backpack had dirt all over it. I didn’t return it because my grandson loved it. I washed it and used spray and wash. It came out but not all of it.Drlores

I bought one of the east west backpacks at least a year ago. Itis still going with no rips or tears! No broken zipper. I have my pack really full and heavy. They are amazing. I bought this one to replenish the ones I have given away. My husband Carrie’s a lot of stuff in his for work. You can not beat the price. I got this perfectly good, sturdy backpack for less than $5! It is truly a steal. I needed something to take on an airline trip to pack in my checked luggage, that didn’t take up much room, and that I could put souvenirs and what not acquired from my trips inside it. Last trip 2 of my daughters ended up buying a duffle bag to fit their extra stuff, and the cheapest they found was one at a discount store for $15. Mine is every bit as good! This is my fourth Osprey bag, and I really love Osprey products. My oldest is probably 13 years old, and still looks great, despite it being used every day to work and back. I’m looking forward to getting many years of use out of this one. Osprey replaced the zipper pulls on that bag no questions asked, and they really stand by their products. I bought the DayLite Plus for two reasons: 1. As my “personal bag” for a budget airline. They have such strict bag size requirements (18”x14”x8”), but this was the biggest that I could find from Osprey and still fit under the seat for free. It’s technically 1 inch over (18”x10”x9”) if you have it stuffed all the way, but as long as I don’t stuff it, it is under the size limit. It maybe isn’t the ideal underseat bag for a budget carrier, as it could have been a little bigger (wider) so that I could have fit a bit more and still fit under the seat, but I was able to store everything that I wanted in this bag for a three-day weekend trip. 2. I have an Osprey Ozone 46 that I use as my main carry-on item when I fly on a non-budget carrier or take longer trips. So I wanted a bag that I could complement that – the Ozone can go in the bin above the seats, and the DayLite plus can go beneath the seat in front. On my last trip, I brought a cheap foldable, packable backpack in my Ozone, and used that as my daybag on hikes and things. But after a week of daily use on some short hikes, it was starting to develop some rips and show some wear, so I wanted something that would last – which brought me to Osprey. I’ve only used this for one trip, but it obviously still looks brand new, and I’m expecting it to be perfect for many years to come, like my other Osprey bags. And for the price of replacing my cheap foldable pack every 2 or 3 trips, I can buy one Osprey that will last me for life. I have to second some of the comments other reviewers have mentioned that the side water bottle pockets just aren’t deep enough. In the one weekend trip I’ve taken, my water bottle has already fallen out when I bent over to tie my shoe, causing the water bottle to get dented. I now loop the top of the water bottle through the compression strap above the water bottle holder, and that ensures it stays in place and won’t fall out. So I'm deducting one star for the water bottle pocket. Also, my second biggest complaint is that the compression strap buckles on this bag and other Osprey packs are not standard sizes. Though they all look to be a similar size, the three main backpacks that I have: the Ozone 46, a Pandion 28, and this DayLite Plus are all slightly different sized buckles. I was hoping I could just snap the compression snaps from this bag into the Ozone’s and attach this smaller bag to the back of the larger backpack as I was walking around the airport, but that didn’t work. I was able to loop the compression straps from the DayLite Plus around the larger backpack’s compression straps, so that the two bags were attached together; it just wasn’t as clean looking as if they buckles would have been the same and clipped together.jozolo

I love this little pack. I have a 30L Talon Pro for long day hike, a 48L Kestrel for shorter backpack trips and an 85L Aether Plus for the longer backpack trips, so I needed one for shorter day hikes and this fit the bill. I also plan to take it on my backpack trips to have a day pack for excursions. I got a 1.5L bladder for it when I don't want to carry a water bottle. We recently did trip to AZ and this pack was perfect for the 2-5 mile hikes around petrified NP, saguaro NP and hikes around Sedona. It wasn't too hot yet in late March, so a huge bladder wasn't necessary. Straps are just thick enough if you have some weight in it and the waist strap comes in handy for a little trail running or scrambling.Jeff

I love JanSports backpacks. They are high quality and very durable. I bought my kid a JanSports backpack when she entered 1st grade and she has used it for every year until she entered 6th grade. This year we got this backpack for her because her last one was pink and as a Jr. High student, pink is not her color, but this pretty purple is. This backpack should last her through high school. I really like the leather bottom as it makes it even more durable. These backpacks are well worth the money in my opinion.Shane

I got this from my junior year of high school I've had a Kanken since my freshman year and it was just way too small. I knew I wanted something bigger and I spent weeks looking for the perfect bag when I saw this one at target I just had to get it. it fits all my stuff perfectly and it's super cute. I love how there is multiple pockets that way I can keep it organized. Each pocket has it's own purpose and it is going to be great to use for my junior year. I'm using for my trip to the Mall of America in a couple weeks so I'll update on it's effectiveness after then. I wanted to substitute a red "Right Pack" and this time chose the basic "Superbreak". I loved the Viking Red of my previous backpack, but the RUSSET RED I got this time is outrageous!!!! It is not a real red, it's a deep, dark magenta. Horrible! The WHITE LINING is also horrible! The water bottle POCKET is also to small to fit my regular 32 oz. Hydroflask. This pocket should be big enough to hold this or other bottles. I am very disappointed in these design mistakes. The material has changed and seems low quality. I've always had a Jansport but this backpack is definitely not in the same caliber and quality. Beware! I'm returning this right away!Denise

Only one cup holder so it weighs down my bag on that side. Zipper is poor quality. I wish there was more pockets. However the biggest pocket is a decent size for folders and binders. If you ever had to put a sweatshirt or a lunchbox in this backpack along with folders you would have a problem, it wouldn't fit. Would not buy againAlyssa

If you're looking for a behemoth backpack with a thousand spaces and loops and extras, maybe you want to upgrade. I always found those bags to be unruly. If you're looking for a medium size, classic bookbag, this one is perfect.Bek

I love this bag! My coworker has had this bag in a different color for years, and I've always had my eye on it. I'm currently pregnant and my work bag (Dagne) was getting too heavy and kept me overworking one side. I opted for a backpack to keep things in midline and to take a strain off of my back, per my PT and Chiro. This was such a great investment! I am currently carrying an iPad Pro, hp 15” laptop, and a 14” Dell laptop, along with all of their cables, one wireless mouse, a mom wallet, can style headphones, an umbrella, cutlery, and two cosmetic bags. Every time I pass through security they comment on how much stuff I have, but this bag carries all of it perfectly. I was concerned with the thinness of the shoulder straps, but it is as comfortable as it can be. I am very pleased I can have a stylish bag that also holds what I need it to. All the compartments help. Just waiting to see on durability. If it lasts 6 months I would consider it worth it, which sounds crazy, but this bag seriously makes my life that much easier.Erin

I debated giving this a two but I love the look and organization of this backpack. It's beautiful and I do get compliments. However, I hate (yes, hate) that it won't stay on my shoulders properly. I have to use both straps because just using one is impossible (okay, that's better for my back anyway) but I live in an area that is cold and a lot of my jackets have an outer shell of nylon type material. The straps just slide right down to the edge of my shoulders. I find I tend to hold the straps with my hands as I walk to where I'm going. When I originally bought this bag, I didn't fully appreciate all of the thoughtful features. I feel like someone used to manual locks getting a key fob for the first time. For example, I'm used to top loading bags that sometimes (often not) have side zipper access. This bag has that but also has this zipper at the bottom for easy access to your sleeping bag. I never realized how great it would be to just set up camp and be able to whip out my bag and thermorest without dumping out everything on top. Another thing they really thought through was the compression straps on the front of the bag. Originally I was a little bummed that there wasn't an easy access front pouch or stretchy crisscross cords on the front. When I'm packing out my camp garbage, I don't want it inside my bag and this is where I put it. Well, I discovered that the bottom straps flip around and buckle together, which means I could just strap the garbage bag to the front very easily and even more securely than before. And if I miss the stretchy cord, there are daisy chains along the sides that I can use to assemble my own. Finally, the pouch pocket along the waist is the perfect size for an iPhone 6S. That sounds like a silly thing to care about, but my phone is my camera. I like quick access. Most importantly, it's really customizable and comfortable. I'm 5'2 and have a petite frame and it fits like a dream. And oh how lovely the cushioning is on this pack! Only complaint: No raincover included. Also, I'm jealous of those who own large packs with removable daypacks built in. I could go for that. But it's great in so many other ways.Backcountry Camper

I am not an ultralight hiker, and this is not an ultralight pack. But it's roomy, comfortable, and a perfect replacement for the smaller pack (Banchee 35 Women's) I had used for about 5 years. I can also see it would be great for travel, because of the zipper up the side would keep you from having to unpack all your luggage to get something particular. There is a small divider in the bottom which would separate anything wet you stashed in the bottom from the rest of your gear. It has convenient lash points on the top of the pack for a sleeping bag or pad. There are adjustable straps on the bottom for a tent or pad. But really, I don't need to attach gear on the outside of this pack, because this thing has a very large main compartment. The hip pockets are HUGE, which is nice, but they are mesh so not waterproof. The hip belt is a single strap, which is a different design from my old pack from TNF, and not as substantial. I have pretty large hips but the hip belt on the M/L fits me with room to spare. The frame is not adjustable which I think was an issue for some with the older packs from TNF (a feature I liked). The pocket on the front does not have a zipper. I liked the two front zippers AND pocket on my older pack, so the way I organize will change with this pack. So far, I like the pack, and although I might prefer something smaller for the summer, it is a great pack for winter hiking.lauralee84

Functional bag. Needed something to attach to carry-on luggage. This fit the bill. Comfortable shoulder straps. Good main compartment. Good grab points. Simple look. Side pockets on the exterior have zippers which is handy. My two main issues are the laptop compartment and the front compartment. The laptop sleeve can either be accessed from it’s own zipper near the back panel or within the main compartment. Dual access. I don’t see the practical purpose for this? The velcro flap to access it from the inside adds bulk. Since it has its own zipper this seems unnecessary. The second issue is the front compartment. While it has many features its very slim and doesn’t open wide or deep enough to access easily. At the bottom is a zippered pocket, intended to hold a battery pack, which is fine as a set and forget pocket. However if you want to use it as an every day pouch, due to the narrow opening of the bag, you can’t access it easily. It’s a blind access pouch in that you just have to feel around at the bottom of the bag for it. The top compartment and organizer is intended for a tablet and pens etc. I think a simple larger zippered pocket would get better use and make the bag batter. Most tablets can fit in the laptop sleeve with another laptop or just by itself so I don’t think there needed to be an entirely different tablet compartment. With those two small changes I think the bag would have more universal use.Matthew K.

I just got this in the mail and it's an incredibly well made bag. I love how sleek it is, and it seems like it's perfect for the two things I need it for- bringing my laptop to work, and flying. Unfortunately I won't be able to test either anytime soon but I'm so excited! This bag is a little on the small side (but makes for a super . For a commuter bag it is perfect- as well as your laptop and/or ipad (sadly my standard ipad does not fit in the front zipper pocket, it has to go in the main compartment), it will also fit your lunch, all your chargers, and a light sweater. For me personally I know this bag will be the right size for flying because the backpack I've used in the past was 24L and this is just one L shy, but I feel like a lot of people would require more space. I wish there were at least one buckle on the outside to attach a fleece to, to free up room, but I'm going to account for that when I fly and bring a bungee to attach my extra layers to the outside of the bag. But assuming you don't have to pack your fleece, this bag will very snugly fit a small camera cube for one body/one lens (for transit only, this is not a DSLR backpack for quick access) as well as my ipad, nintendo switch, snacks, and all my chargers. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the luggage strap on the back so you can put your backpack on your rolling luggage, every single backpack should have this. I also love the extra secure padding on the laptop sleeve, it has an extra padded bottom and the sleeve is suspended off the bottom of the bag so if your bag is stuffed, the bottom edge of your laptop won't touch the ground. These two details were what I was looking for in a bag and I'm so glad I found one that meets all my other preferences!!frankie15

I was excited to get my hands on this bag, but unfortunately that is where the excitement stopped. The bag is far too narrow for it to be functional. While advertised as 23L it actually has less usable space than the 16L bag that I was carrying before. With the length of the bag being so long, and with it being so narrow, along with a zipper that does not go down far enough, getting anything from the bottom of the bag is a real chore. When the interior pockets have items in them, getting to anything in the main pocket is really difficult because the items in the pockets occupy the open space. I would not recommend this bag if you regularly carry more than a laptop and a notepad.DCB

Having grown up with Jansports, I had to get one for my daughter for kindergarten. She loves it! Aside from a great color (plum), fabulous friendship bracelet style pulls on the zippers (yellow, her favorite color) and a nice smooth material, this backpack is perfect for a grade school student. The laptop sleeve is a nice feature, and the front pocket has just enough organization slots to be useful. I'd take a second water bottle holder, but the one it has is sturdy and a good size. If you're looking for a behemoth backpack with a thousand spaces and loops and extras, maybe you want to upgrade. I always found those bags to be unruly. If you're looking for a medium size, classic bookbag, this one is perfect.Bek

I have been using Jansport's backpacks for almost 2 decades now, and I am deeply disappointed in this last purchase. I wanted to substitute a red "Right Pack" and this time chose the basic "Superbreak". I loved the Viking Red of my previous backpack, but the RUSSET RED I got this time is outrageous!!!! It is not a real red, it's a deep, dark magenta. Horrible! The WHITE LINING is also horrible! The water bottle POCKET is also to small to fit my regular 32 oz. Hydroflask. This pocket should be big enough to hold this or other bottles. I am very disappointed in these design mistakes. The material has changed and seems low quality. I've always had a Jansport but this backpack is definitely not in the same caliber and quality. Beware! I'm returning this right away!Denise

This backpack is mediocre at best. Could've been way better. I do like the color, I got the light blue one. Normally I use vera Bradley but I wanted to switch it up and regret it. Only one cup holder so it weighs down my bag on that side. Zipper is poor quality. I wish there was more pockets. However the biggest pocket is a decent size for folders and binders. If you ever had to put a sweatshirt or a lunchbox in this backpack along with folders you would have a problem, it wouldn't fit. Would not buy againAlyssa

I purchased this for hiking (up to 5 hours), and biking (up to 2 hours), but it was a bit too small for me. I wanted to be able to bring a lunch, a light jacket, and another water bottle to have my electrolyte tabs, so I ended up returning this one to get a 12L pack where I can fit a bit more. Compared to the one I exchanged it for, this one lacks air ventilation for your back, better hip straps and mini accessible pockets, and a helmet strap, although for the price and the size, it's expected! This would be perfect for light packers and those going for shorter adventures! Having used a 2.5L Osprey bladder, I can't say enough about it, it's great — the magnetic mouthpiece is perfect, easy to use, and so much more convenient than taking out a water bottle. I haven't used it enough yet to have the clip break off like some of the other reviews I've seen.Bonnie C.

I'm giving this three stars because the bag itself deserves 5 stars while the hydration bag inside deserves zero stars. The bag itself is well made and well designed. It is well ventilated and the shoulder straps have nice flexibility. The magnetic clasp on the chest strap is a nice touch. However, the plastic hydration bag is hot garbage. The clamp that holds the bag shut is very difficult to slide on and off, and the hose itself is affixed and cannot be removed for cleaning. I ended up throwing away the bag and using a Platypus 'Big Zip' that I had laying around. If you have a hydration bag that you can use and are looking for a quality bag , this isn't a bad choice. But if you are looking for a complete set, look elsewhere.Matthew

I typically drink more than 4L per day, and I don't need any snacks for 2-8 hours hikes; I was in a search for spacious enough hydration pack so I can try longer hikes. I even bought special cover to keep water warm in Winter. 2.5L reservoir will be enough for 20 mile hike, and I can add few bottles, just in case. I use special water with potassium and seasalt. 1 hour run without water is Ok; but more that 2 hours run/jogging/hike – water is must have. Fit is great for my 5'10" XL frame, so comfortable that I don't feel any "weight".Fuad E.

Have been using it the last couple weeks and I've been very happy so far. Quality to price seems great compared to the competition. To give an idea of my use case I mainly just go on pretty laid back mostly flat trail walks of one to four hours but I live in an area that gets triple digit hot so a hydration pack is a must even on short outings. Even just existing outside in the summer needs plenty water of some sort. As such I gravitate to smaller light duty hydration packs that I can use for kinda everything: walking for fitness, walking to the store for a couple items, light day hikes, and also for bicycling around town at a leisurely pace. Nothing even close to demanding but they still do see a near daily amount of use during the warmer seasons nevertheless. Was considering this one even before it was discounted to make way for the new models, but once I realized it was priced to clear I had to get it and try it out. It's now my new standard daypack. I'm not going to stress test it but the material it's made from seems sturdier than other packs at the price point without appearing to make the pack any heavier. The side pockets are tall which helps my long skinny insulated bottles to not fall out of them and the extra mesh pocket on the front gets a lot of use. Not sure the intended purpose but it's good for damp stuff that you have to bring back yet don't want inside the pack. The load lifter straps were a welcome sight as they're usually only present on larger pricier packs. That was an appreciated and helpful addition. The magnetic closure on the chest strap is one of those things where I didn't think I'd care until I used it and now realize how much nicer it is to operate. Same with the magnetic mount for the bite valve. The large finger friendly zipper pulls are nice but the way they're put on they exert force at the side of the zipper not the end which means some binding if I pull fast. The solution for that is easy though: just pull them slowly. The back sweat prevention vent feature isn't bad yet isn't the best. Though that looks to be improved on the new models. That's the biggest criticism I have of it though and even then it's not that big of one: It's not a sweaty pack, it just isn't as well ventilated as others. Bummed the 20L size appears to be going the way of the dinosaurs since it's the perfect day pack size imo. Just a little extra room over an 18L but not so much to make it a large pack. Reservoir is good. Doesn't barrel out. Because it's well distributed it doesn't feel like I'm carrying a little over 6lbs of water when full. Bite valve works well. The amount of water I get per sip is enough. And cleaning it is easier than the one piece ones. Just take it apart let it dry then put it back together. No having to keep it open with a clothes pin to make sure gunk doesn't grow. The plastic reservoir mounting clip in the pack is nice and sturdy compared to the fabric ribbon of the competition that can rip out of the stitching relatively easily. The 3d shape and built in drying hook is a very welcome feature. Gregory just saved you about ten to fifteen dollars, not to mention the time spent finding a very losable gadget, by doing that. The shaped design does make it a little bit trickier to push out air to prevent sloshing but it's still very possible to do as it's not rigid in any way. I would've like a wider opening but it's wide enough for water ice and cleaning brushes. The pack I was shipped actually does have a quick release hose which was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting it to come stock after reading the reviews. So taking it out to refill is really easy and doesn't require removing the hose from the strap. Tldr, it's a good value for the original price and a great one for the discounted price.Wally

I haven’t hiked with it yet but the bag is great! It hit all my wants in a new hiking backpack. I have gone through a couple already and knew what I was looking for but hadn’t found it in person. I ordered this one from the Gregory website after looking through all their bags. My only dislike is that the top of the bag isn’t flush with the straps so it feels a bit awkward to me, hopefully I will get used to it quickly and it won’t bother me when using it. I already like it better than my old Osprey and Camelback bags though.KaraS

Great day pack with well-placed pockets and organization. Room to carry double hammock w/ straps, lunch and snack, change of clothes + water shoes, towel, book…all with room to spare! Love the reservoir. Very comfy: I'm a 5'7" 150 lb. female and initially tried the Swift 30 H2O (the "sister" pack to this one), but the torso length was too short (my torso measures just shy of 18"). I purchased this bag about 3 months ago and I use it weekly as a day pack/commuter. Everything has held up well so far with the exception of the trim along the top of the sleeve on the inside back panel of the bag. After owning the bag for a couple of weeks and using it only a few times the stitching on the trim started coming undone. Now the trim has completely separated from the sleeve material and will likely continue unless I add some preventative stitches or fully repair it myself. I really like this bag and it's features, but wasn't expecting to have an issue so soon.Nick

PROS: The construction and features are great. I am very pleased with the color, the quality of the materials, the straps, and the overall amount of room in the bag. CONS: This is a small but unexpected annoyance – the cup holder is too small for my water bottle. I have a 40oz Ironflask that fit easily in my Adidas backpack. It looks like it will fit since on the pictures they show blender bottles and other flasks but on the 35L bag the cup holder is so stiff that it doesn't fit around the bottle. It's not enough for me to return the bag but considering the price, it's enough to make me look elsewhere for my next bag.Carlos C.
