20 Best Bathtub Water Filter (2023 Update)

I am very pleased with this water filter. It arrive timely and was very easy to install. So far I really like it. I have a lot of minerals in my water and on top of the chlorine that dries my hair and skin out. So far, it's making a big difference on my hair and skin. I only gave it 4 stars because I have only had it a month and so I feel like I need to give it time to see how the filter holds up before I give 5. But, so far so good… I have also used Aquasana over the counter water filter and really liked it. Great customer service when I did have a problem with a broken piece (After years of use) and they quickly replaced what was needed because I was apart of their water for life program. I love this product. Easy installation and smaller than I thought. We have very hard water and it was ruining my skin and hair. Since we have installed the Aquasana shower filter, my hair is softer, less tangles, hair color lasting longer and my skin does not itch from dryness anymore! Also, the water pressure is stronger with the filter. We already purchased a few more!Chris K

This works great to soften water, in this case in Palm Springs; my wife's hair loves it! Negatives are 1) Even with teflon tape & appropriate torque, the connection where the device attaches leaks, just a bit 2) You likely cannot attach your favorite shower head post filter ( and the one that comes with it is fixed, can't be swiveled) and 3) Water pressure is significantly reduced. That said, a great first aid for hard water with dry frizzy hair and glass spots. I am gonna get a household system next, & go back to better shower head & water pressure.Sun Lvr

Say bye bye to nasty chlorine and hello to fresher filtered water. Does a fairly good job of filtering chlorine out of the water. Let's face it, YUCK! Who wants to bathe in that?! Where we're at they load the water with it four times a year. This helps filter the water and leaves you with pure clean bath water. Refreshing idea! Definitely recommend it!C

I moved from a place with soft water to one with the hardest water I've ever felt. I couldn't brush my hair after a shower while my hair was wet. It was torture to brush my hair if it was dry. My hair was tangled 24 hours, breaking, and frizzy. I tried different conditioner, oil treatment, and detangler sprays. Aquabliss saved my hair after the 1st shower. I didn't realize how dry my skin was from the hard water, I was using so much lotion and scrubs twice a week. I thought my hair and dry skin was due to the dry air and no humidity. Let me start by saying- I never leave reviews and I have also tried every shampoo, treatment both professional and over the counter and my hair would always look good for a week but after showering with our well water the same thing would happen. Orange. Brassy. Dull. Dry. Our well is worst of the worst. We live in an old house and have a “well house” with a semi shallow well. Absolutely no relief from orange. Gross water. Until we purchased this. My hair has been colored one time since November and looks amazing still! I do still use Malibu hard water shampoo several days a week but this filter is the #1 reason for better hair and skin! I don't even haven't to scrub unsightly orange residue from the tub weekly. It has been a savior! If you have icky well water and issues with your hair and skin I HIGHLY recommend this. I was skeptical at fief and tried to do as much research as possible but for the price I just gave it a shot. And I am so glad that I did! It is worth every penny! We did change our filter after 3 months opposed to 6 because our water is that bad. But even every 3 months is completely worth the price!john

I'm really impressed by this thing. I have had such bad chlorine in my shower ever since I bought my house a year ago. Hair brittle all the time, skin flaky and smelling like chlorine. All of that went away the instant I installed the Bliss filter. My hair looks and feels healthy, And I don't smell chlorine fumes when I take a shower anymore. I'm so grateful for this product. I'll see how it holds up overtime. So far week one is going great. Only thing I might change is next time I would get brushed nickel because the chrome is like a weird little mirror on the shower head. Lol. Very nice looking product though and feels sturdy.Kristen

The filters are to change at the end if the year, and have one on hand. I have had the Enviro 10 stage qater filter for almost 3 years now amd have not been disappointed. Our water is decent, but the filter makes a noticeaby big difference in not getting a "chlorine " smell or taste. For the price, they gice very good value for the length of time they work.RM72

Bought this because I read the reviews. noticed that after a few months of use at the bottom of my water gallon which I refill with this filter I see it looks black. When I emptied the gallon of water and wiped it with a paper towel the paper was BLACK!!! I did let the water filter run when I first installed it for longer than was instructed just to be sure the water was clear. So I thought. Problem is when the water sits and I refill the gallon in time it's black at the bottom and around the gallon. Saw this same thing with a big mug I use for drinking my water. I went to wash it and noticed the same black color. I don't believe this filter is safe for drinking and I will no longer be buying it.Dee Cuevas

Bought this because I've heard New Wave Enviro is a good company, and had good reviews on Vitacost. Plus I trust Vitacost to carry only the best items, so I trusted it would be worth the money I spent on it. However—-once this filter was attached to my kitchen faucet (per the exact instructions), it sprayed water everywhere from the faucet attachment. I even had the faucet RE-BUILT to try and fix that problem, but it did NOT fix the problem. But the main problem was: this water filter did NOT make good filtered water. The water coming from it tasted HORRIBLY WORSE than plain tap water. So I contacted New Wave Enviro and they said I got a "defective filter" and they said they would send me a replacement (it has not ever arrived). How can a defective filter have been included in a brand new filter housing? And if the water tasted that BAD from this filter, I could not trust that it filtered out the contaminants that I want filtered out. I could live with the horrible taste, but could not live with wondering if I was still drinking tap water from the supposed "filtered" water. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, Vitacost stood behind the product and issued me a refund as I requested. Thank you Vitacost! But…now I have to search and search for another water filter that I HOPE I can trust.bluebell

My daughter has severe eczema. Her skin would be very dry and she would have flare ups after each bath. The filter has made a huge difference. She no longer has flare ups after a bath and her skin is improving.Rose-Marie

We loved our first one, but the second one, we discovered there is a plastic loofah sponge inside, which is not very healthy for water running through it, or for disposing of afterwards. We bought these because they are marketed as eco-friendly with cloth bag, etc. so was disappointed to find plastic that is known to leech microplastics into the water inside the water filter… we wont' be buying these again.Amy B.

So, this review is supposed to be just for the water softener but I also wanted to commend Santevia's amazing customer service. But first, my water softener. It is my first time trying this product and I really enjoy using it. There is a measurable difference in the water quality and my skin feels soft and smoothe, not dry and itchy as before. I use body lotions after my shower or bath but I welcome the opportunity to skip this step when possible. The only two suggestions for improvement here is to firstly, engineer the product to be effective longer. For me, I take baths often so one or two months duration will be an expensive (albeit enjoyable!) venture. Secondly, can this also be engineered to be added to the shower head? Next, I want to commend Graeme for his excellent customer service. Parts to my pitcher broke and he quickly reached out – in response to my disgruntled complaint – to offer replacement parts. Initially, I hesitated to complain (it took about 3 months to take this step) since I thought to simply replace the unit but this is one of the changes wrought by the pandemic. I no longer simply replace or throw things away. I have an increased respect for my money and the environment. My pitcher works beautifully now and I am so happy! We orignally purchased the Santevia shower head filter, due to where we live the water is fairly hard. We seen this product and had to try it out. It works amazing, I noticed the difference right away when using. Especially for our new born, its great knowing we are using filtered water for their baths. There was one fault, that was the part that is supposed to fit around the head of the faucet was slightly to small. Was an easy fix, as it is a zip tie that holds the shape of where it gose over the faucet. I cut the zip tie, added a new one to make the whole a little bigger and now it works great. Would of been nice (more user fiendly) if the whole size was adjustable via a slip not rope or came with a larger opening or velcro or somthing of that sort to adjust the size if you were to swithc faucets. I wish I had known about these a long time ago! I received mine today, installed it in like 5 minutes, took a shower and I immediately could tell a big difference! I could actually comb through my hair with no trouble. Something I haven't been able to do in a long time. Also, this winter I have been itching terribly from dry skin. I was really hoping that this product would work as claimed. It does not. It temporarily helps with some of the general chlorine Smell, for a few days.. but it certainly does Not remove chlorine from the water. My skin still burns, coughing and sneezing, burning eyes, ect. I am very sensitive to it and know exactly if it's in the water or not. I would like for AquaBliss to explain to us, with the real laboratory testing to back it, how exactly a tiny little filter could take ALL of the chlorine content in gallons and gallons of water flying through it and make it disappear? Where does it go exactly? Does all that chlorine volume stay inside that tiny filter? No. Does it magically disappear? No. This product does not work as stated.Ashley H.

I just receive the unit. Initially thought I got a dud since after I put on a couplw more round of the tape, the water was still coming out of the pipe and the filter. Decide to check out the website, and problem solve. The old washer was pushed into the pipe, so pulled it out and out in the new one and no leak. Wish they have those details on the page. Water seems to have some difference. After taking a hot shower, the walls doesn't seem to be dripping yellow for now. I still have to do a major scrub down of the walls. I can't remember if I had wanted to get the 100 or the 220 model to see which is better. For now , SF 220 seems to show enough of a difference in water difference.Philnnyc

I have been aware of this unit since I had well water with lots of sediment back in 2002 (I had no money then to do anything). It has always been well reviewed. Now I am on a well again & the sediment is even worse. Back then it was just sand/grit. Now it is some kind of nasty, black sediment. The water has permanently etched the toilet and sink within a year. Because my pressure tank is in the basement, with no floor drain, I called a plumber to see if we could make this work. After a couple bad experiences with those small, plastic whole house filter units, I really wanted equipment that would do a better job and I wanted to get out of the filter business. This unit has been installed a couple months now and I could not be more pleased. My plumber elevated it a bit so he could run the drain thru right thru the basement wall. The default flush schedule is 1AM, every 2 weeks, so I'm not even aware when it flushes itself. However, I am very aware of the improved condition of my water. No more oily film in the dog water bowl. No more toilet tank with black gunk in it. No more overpriced filters. The unit comes with a soft, rubber (?) hose for the back-flush (approx 20'). Had I been aware at the time, I would have had my plumber change that out for pvc since we were running it outside. He probably should have offered. That option was in the full manual that I downloaded later but not in the manual in the box. I will likely change it later. For now I just slipped 1/2" pvc over the black, flex hose outside to protect it from dogs, mowers, etc, and so I could direct it away from the foundation of the house, rather than have 10 gallons of water flushing out next to my basement wall. Determine your exit/drain strategy first. The only other caveat I can offer is that it is rated 6 gpm which is fine for me. I live in a 1 bathroom home, & I don't even shower and do laundry at the same time (so as not to stress my well). I didn't need to spend $1000 on a 20 gpm unit. Do your homework. Someone said they had to replace their filter material at one point. As affordable as this unit is, and as annoying & expensive as filter changes used to be, that would not be a deal breaker for me as long as Whirlpool has the product available.CBinNC

We previously had the exact same model of Whirlpool whole house filter (same model) installed and loved it! The new filter arrived as expected and the first installation went as expected until I slowly started to close the bypass valve. I heard the water slowly filling up the tank with all of the charcoal and hearing it get to the top I was expecting the water intake sounds to stop. Unfortunately that was not the case at all as water started rushing out of the 2 part C-clips that secure the upper units mechanism onto the tank. Once I stopped the water I then took everything back apart and learned that the o-ring which seals the tank and the charcoal strainer was missing. What a pain… I then inspected my old one to find that this seal (as is shown in the manual) is supposed to be installed but was not installed on the new one. I removed the seal from the old one, inspected, cleaned, relubricated and then installed back onto the new unit. Put everything back together, slowly opened up the bypass valve and now there are no leaks. Purchasing a brand new unit I was expecting that all parts would have been installed, assembled and inspected but to my surprise they were not. Not very happy but I got it working…Ryan A.

We lived in a town called Fernley NV, some of the worst water in the US, we got a quarterly warning letter from the EPA that the levels of arsenic were three time the allowable (didn't know there was an allowable amount of arsenic). We used this a pre treatment for the rest our filters R/O and the difference was amazing so much that we wont be with out one ever, this is our second- not due to failure it was alive and kicking ten years after install- we sold the house. It stopped the sulphur smell and the occasional white "fizzy" water. The skin on my sides was dry scaly and turned orangish, no more of that. Our fingernails got stronger noticeably weaker after moving to the area and after install noticeably heathery. The price is a bit of a killer but if you change carbon filters you can stop buying them if your considering a changeable filter system don't there expensive can clog up with sediment that and they are a pain in the bum to change. The flow is amazing, like its not even there on a 1" system and open 1' ball valve. We just installed a new dishwasher and didn't and don't need to use a drying agent like "Jet Dry" no spots. BTW ours recharges every 14 days and produces about 16 gallons of waste water, its neutral footprint the city is getting back the chemicals it was sending you 🙂 Just buy it and live healthier or if a spotless car wash is your thing its good for that too.40mmcannon

Product looks great easy to install but does it really do what is suppose to do ? I used a TDS measurement device to test the parts per million . When I use this to test my drinking water , have 5 stage Osmose water filter system and the device gives 0,09 parts per million what is good . Tap water has 339 , just measured it . And water out of shower with filter has 340 parts per million ?! So according to my test it does not filter the water ..Mark

My husband and I recently moved to Southern California from Minnesota, and I knew that there were two issues that I needed to get resolved right away – the incredibly hard water and the low water pressure. I have coarse hair, so we had a water softener back in Minnesota but there wasn't an option to install one at our new place in SoCal. This filter has been a godsend and my hair and skin is just as soft as it was when I was taking showers with a water softener. Works great! The hard water in my shower has greatly reduced. I gave 4 stars because the only downside is the bulky shape, it makes the water flow kind of high up in my small shower. I use water from my shower in my kettle and humidifier and the mineral buildup has been significantly reduced.Kyla

Installed fairly easily, and I replaced the cartridges / filters about every 6 months. The wife seemed to like it, but I really don't think it filtered much. I used pipe-dope on the threads of the filter housing- to allow easy removal. This worked for about 3.5 years, until April 2017 when it became "frozen". To keep her happy, and it's probably more mental than something that makes the water more wholesome, I'm buying another. They can be rather difficult to separate the two pieces in order to replace the cartridge. I used a rubber-strap type wrench, while holding the other part with my hand. I DON'T THINK THE DESIGNERS DID A GOOD JOB. There should be a tool for removal. It there is this time, I'll be quite pleased, but so far it doesn't appear that there is such a tool.Roddy75

For the value and the reliability/consistency…..this one goes big. I live in the heart of Minneapolis so the tap water is….less than desired; I was spending hundreds of dollars on purified/spring water plastic bottles and gallons to keep my dog & I hydrated- talk about expensive (and harmful to the Earth)!!!! When I finally bought my Brita Basic Water adulteration System, I saved money, time AND i’m gaining rewards from MyBrita points system. My previously foggy, gross looking water from the sink is now crystal clear & tastes great. I've bought two of these filters over the past year, first the plastic one, then the chrome one. They have both failed in the same fashion. Water will begin leaking and spraying underneath the plastic collar that connects to the faucet. This isn't an issue with the seal with the faucet, the water comes from under the collar. At first I thought the problem was the rubber washer, but you can't buy just a replacement, you have to buy an entire new unit. So I did. The new unit failed after about 3 months of normal use. In an attempt to reduce the leak, I tried to tighten the collar a little bit more by hand, when I did this the plastic connector that holds the collar to the unit broke, and the entire thing snapped in two rendering it unusable. Brita seems to have purposefully designed a system with weak parts at the point of highest stress, ensuring that their products will break quickly and you will be forced to purchase another. Very frustrating that I wasted my money on this company twice.Mozingo

This filter has literally helped the quality of my life when I'm inside of my home so much I am so grateful for this brand. I have hard water and limestone build up and other different types of materials in my water and it really makes a difference in the quality of being able to use my water out of the faucet when I need to. I don't have to worry about fragments in my water when I use that or when I make something to eat when I need to make something to drink that calls for water. it by far saves me so much money not having to buy pre-bottled water at the store. I live in the country so it also saves me gas so I don't need to go to town to buy water. I've had my water filter installed for about a year now ever since I inherited my father's property and I am so grateful that I was able to get a filter that was not super expensive that I could afford due to the fact that I'm in the process of remodeling and fixing up the home. It's definitely something that I think everybody should have regardless if they have hard water or not. My water tastes smoothe and clear. It used to smell weird aswell due to the limestone and I also have a system with this brand that helps filter the water in my shower as well as the pipes to my washer. This filter appears to be better than the previous ball I had been using. This filter has a larger surface area and claims to filter out much more than just chlorine. Pricing is reasonable and product was delivered in a timely manner.Karla P.

I live in a dry climate with hard water and after the first shower my hair was noticeably softer and my skin wasn't as dry. It has been installed with a 1.5 gpm shower head and I wanted the filter to help make washing my hair with less water pressure easier. Less soap, fewer rinses. So far no issues with washing my long thick color treated hair. The filter was easy to install and took about 5 minutes and no tools. The directions were precise and there was ample tape included. Product is new so can not speak to filter change or longevity. Like that the filters are reliably available to at my local Home Depot store.Tara

I purchased the Coral water filtration system after reading the reviews on Consumers Report. I can confirm that the installation is very simple and it can be completed in about 20 minutes. The water tastes great and it will save me roughly $60 a month since I no longer need my original water delivery services. The filtration works quietly and the water pressure did not get impacted. The only complaint is that Brondell only provides the faucet in one color. My sink faucet is black, so the silver one provided did not match. I had to purchase a separate faucet elsewhere.Bruno

This is my first time under sink water filter system. I was searching everything online and chose to buy this product. Brondell has more unique design and better performance under sink water filter system but the price was not what I was looking for since it is my first time to buy water filter. This filter system satisfied my price range and the long filter life also satisfied my need. (I think filter life actually depends on how dirty my main water is) I compared filtered water and tap water. There are huge differences between them. Filtered water removed odor and bad chemically tastes from my tap water. I am very happy with it. Installation was very straight forward; but I wish they separate installation guide and owner's manual for easy navigation. Other than that, it took my 15-20 mins to finish installation. (You need to drill the countertop; prepare drill and drill bit, otherwise you need to go to hardware store to buy or rent them) Overall, I am happy with this product and next time I will try Brondell Circle under sink filter system.Jaden

As far as I can tell (haven’t tested the water myself yet) it is filtering just but honestly I’m not very impressed with the quality at all. Feels like cheap plastic. My tub doesn’t have the stopper and the rubber wire provided doesn’t help it stay on at all. For $65 freaking dollars I would expect A LOT better. I’ve used filters that you have to prime before but good lord the mess this made in my tub was unreal too. Sad to say I will not be purchasing from this company again. I got the shower filter as well and really same story there. I wish I could get my money back but of course you can’t return it if it’s been used. That should’ve been my warning not to purchase in the first place.Megan

I've used and been very happy with bath ball filters of this type for years, and this one is no exception. The city water where I live is heavily, heavily chlorinated and the filter removes all chlorine odor, so it's doing its job very well. (I use a reverse osmosis filter for drinking water.) The bath balls typically last about a year or a little longer before the chlorine smell begins to become noticeable, and then it's time for a replacement. In the past year, I've had to do long epsom salts soaks about every other day for muscle-connective tissue issues, and the last filter I had did the job for the full year. Highly recommended.Dean

Just Installed one on our shower head. It works but there was a leak from the casing. Nick with customer support was quick to send me out a replacement and was very good to deal with. In the meantime we are using the leaky in and have definitely seen an improvement in water smell and iron levels. Will purchase again.JodyT
