Hi: I found that this music course has all the basics in it for teaching and learning piano. I used this book at a community college when I taught there. I use it for my private students also. This method is one of the best books for a mixed genre of music as other books can be all classical, or, not chronological with the lessons. I would recommend it to anyone who is musically inclined. This book is filled with technical excercises that are also very musical. I've been playing for about 2-3 months and find the exercises challenging, but I enjoy them and it has improved my coordination. NOTE: The book is aimed at beginners, but I'd probably recommend to someone who has been playing for a few months or can read music at a basic level. The book just contains sheet music with no explanations/notes about the exercises, so a true beginner might find it a bit daunting!Leo
