20 Best Bible Study Books For Women (2023 Update)

Havent finished it yet but really enjoying it thus far! It has got me thinking about how much I want to learn and share with others about the reasons to be Bible literate, the main reason being that the more you know of God the deeper your relationship with him can be. Bible teacher and author Jen Wilkin teaches women of all ages to dig into God's Word for themselves in her new book Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Our Minds published by Crossway Books. The book promises to be a great resource for women Bible teachers youth workers parents and anyone else longing to study the Bible for themselves. In the book Wilkin gives her own testimony of learning to study God's Word for herself and she shares the value of Bible literacy. She humorously illustrates some incomplete approaches to Bible reading including the Xanax Approach the Pinball Approach the Magic Ball Approach the Personal Shopper Approach the Telephone Game Approach and the Jack Sprat Approach. In the process Wilkin shows that not only should readers dig into God's Word themselves but they should use a well-rounded approach. Additionally Women of the Word challenges readers to approach Bible study differently than they may have in the past. We often read the Bible and make it about us by asking 'What does God have for me today?' Instead Wilkin encourages readers to see God as the central character of the Bible and to ask 'What do I learn about God and His character?' She says 'The Bible tells us who we are and what we should do but it does so through the lens of who God is.' The rest of Women of the Word deals with the 5 P's of Sound Bible Study. Wilkin says Bible students should study God's Word with Purpose Perspective Patience Process and Prayer and that those five aspects are all interwoven and not necessarily linear. The over-arching Purpose is to know the Big Story of the Bible and see how all the parts fit together. Reading with Perspective means becoming an archaeologist and answering five basic archaeological questions. Serious study takes Patience it follows a Process and it starts continues and ends in Prayer. After introducing the 5 P's of Sound Bible Study Wilkin then illustrates the process with the book of James. Women of the Word also includes some helpful extras including a chapter just for Bible teachers and an appendix of recommended resources. Overall Wilkin offers a sound Bible study process for women of all ages. It's simple though certainly not easy and it promises to reward the student with treasures from God's Word. Though marketed to women (as the title indicates) Women of the Word would help anyone learn to study God's Word for themselves. It would be great for a variety of study situationsómothers and daughters mothers and homeschoolers mentor relationships and small groups. I highly recommend the Women of the Word and will be using it as I disciple other women in the Word. The only thing I regret is that the book doesn't include a one-page summary of the 5 P's of Sound Bible Study so that as I study a book of the Bible or lead a group Bible study I can refer to it instead of flipping back and forth in Women of the Word. A one page reminder of how to approach a Bible book study would be helpful and perhaps it's something that can be offered later on the publisher's website or the author's own website. Still it's a minor detail and it won't keep me from using or recommending Women of the Word. This is an amazing resource that will hopefully spark a revival of biblical literacy. This book provides a basic and practical method of reading and studying Scriptures, in order to gain deeper understanding of Him, Whom it is about. It is a great book not only for women but for all people, who desire to study the Bible properly, especially if you have not been taught how to read and study the Bible on your own. This Women of the Bible study book digs into 12 women of the Bible. Not only does the writer do a great job of deconstructing and then reconstructing how God used them to Glorify His plan. But as a Christian counselor, she asks deep questions about how your story and walk relates to those women. She also encourages you to harness the characteristics of those women and employ their traits of boldness, honor, strength and devotion in your own life. This is a great resource when searching for examples of women in the Bible who lived their faith through their daily lives, sacrificed for their families and faith, and who put God first in their lives. From Abigail to the Woman Who Lived A Sinful, and all those in-between (like Huldah and Rahab and a host of others), you will have a new appreciation for the way God works (worked) through our lives. Background topics covered include angels, gift-giving, hospitality, mothering, romantic love, widows, women's work and about 50 others. Pointed topics include betrayal, comfort, faith, God's timing, leadership, prayer, surrender, and willingness–all woven into these devotions. The book is set up like this: "Eve" – the meaning of her name, her character, her sorrow, her joy, key scriptures. On Monday you read about "Her Story," on Tuesday about "Her Life and Times," Wednesday get your Bible out because you're going to be reading "Her Legacy in Scripture" (and answering questions), Thursday is "Her Promise," and Friday is "Her Legacy of Prayer." Numbers=Women's Bible Study Participant Workbook – wow – how awesome this workbook is – I cannot tell you how good this book accompanies the book – you know what hooked me? When she wrote, "all around us people are dancing to the steps of bigger, better, faster, and more. We can easily join in the dance without even realizing it." Well, tell me more, and how does this relate to Numbers. Does it even relate to Numbers? Well my friends – it does, but I won't ruin it and tell you how, but this workbook helps you work things through, and through Numbers. I absolutely love The Chosen! I could watch every episode over and over (and I have), and never get tired of it! I have been eagerly awaiting season two to be released, so I was really excited to see that there was a Bible study based on season one to hold me over until then! This study is broken up into 8 lessons, one to go along with each episode of season one. Each lesson starts out with a transcript from the episode to lead you into the lesson. It also includes "your turn" questions to get you reflecting and looking up scripture in your Bible. There is a section in each lesson called "Old Testament Context" which I love because it reiterates that the Bible is one ongoing love story from God, and that the Old Testament is just as important to read and understand as the New Testament. They are a package deal, and you cannot fully understand one without the other. The lessons use Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, Matthew, and Simon's lives as examples in the lessons, and that really helps with application of the material. It was easy for me to see parts of myself in these people. The lessons each end with a prayer focus, and information for further study. I really enjoyed this study, and usually spent a day or two on each lesson to make sure that I soaked in all of the information and application. It is a study that will help you dig deeper, require you to dust off your Bible, but it is also not so overwhelming that you will not be able to fit it into your daily quiet time. If you enjoy watching The Chosen, or are just looking for an engaging Bible study, this would be a great option for you! This devotional is a concise reader that can be used in addition to regular study with the bible. The book is broken into weeks, and then into days. Each day has a specific focus towards the lesson. I like the approach to the passages that are given. Also, I like the questions that are given, they make you look at the bible with an analytical eye, so we can further understand the contents of the bible.queen7689
