Reviews:
This book did a great job of keeping me on edge. I didn’t want to put it down but I definitely isn’t a romance novel. While it does have its those elements it’s more a story of love overall and the importance of relationships. The ending did get a bit predictable but that’s justified by the fact that we as the reader can piece things together through previous knowledge. Overall a very fun read! I would recommend it to those who enjoy the young adult genre 🙂Cait
I was captivated by the first few chapters but I have to admit that the many of the middle chapters were a little slow. I love the relationship between the two friends although the relationship between Dannie and her fiancé could be a little frustrating and slow at times. The ending was a touching surprise and even caused me to reread Chapter 3 (you'll know what I mean once you read the book!). I definitely recommend.Jreyes
Thanks to Atria Paperback/Simon and Schuster Publishers for a gifted copy. All comments and opinions are my own. This 3.5 star book had a lot of buzz when it first came out in 2020. I received a gifted copy from the publisher in 2021 but just recently read it in May 2022. I didn't intentionally put it off, but it took the suggestion from my friend Val that we both read it and then discuss together to make me pick it up. And it turned out to be a different type of book than I thought. No matter how others have labeled this novel, it is not a romance, but a story of friendship, best girlfriend friendship. This is about two long-time best friends who live in New York City, both single but different in so many ways. Dannie is organized and has her life planned out – her career, her boyfriend and now fiancé, her budget, and her future – including where she will be in five years. Bella is the "poor little rich girl" – wild, whimsical, impulsive, and believes in fate. After accepting her boyfriend's marriage proposal and receiving her dream job offer both on the same day, Dannie falls asleep. When she awakens she's with a totally different (and sexy) guy, a different apartment, a different engagement ring – and it's five years in the future. She tells herself it's a dream and files it away in the back of her mind. But four-and-a-half years later she meets Bella's latest boyfriend, who is the very same guy from that long-ago premonition/vision/dream/alternate reality. That's the set-up but it isn't the story you're expecting. And you'll need tissues. Even though there are aspects of the plot and the characters I would argue with, and some things I would have changed completely, I still found myself engrossed and emotionally caught up in the story. This would make a great book group read and I'm looking forward to discussing with my friend.PhyllisE

Reviews:
You was interesting and highly engrossing from the very beginning. I enjoyed that the story is from 2nd narration. The story is a little bit creepy, but not too creepy. It does feature lots of stalking, violence, and murder, just so people are aware before starting the book.Peppermint1991
This was definitely very different than what I have ever read before. Creepy. Odd. Messes up with your mind but addicting. This book is not for everyone. *Note: I read this way before the TV series came out. Still haven't watched it yet.I am so conflicted in whether I like or hate Joe Goldberg. He is a creepy, smart, psychotic stalker. I should dislike him for that but sometimes I don't. He is a hopeless romantic that needs help. But I don't think any help will actually help him. He knows what he is doing therefore none of his actions are acceptable. Joe meets Guinevere Beck at the bookstore he works at and is instantly obsessed. He will do anything for her, and he does. Every other character in this book isn't any better than him in a way. Yes they don't stalk and hurt people but their actions and personality aren't the greatest either. This book is a crazy read. It will make you so conflicted because you will hate yourself for liking this guy.tiffany.l
Received a copy of this novel as an advanced reader edition in my store a month or two before the release date. While I lay hands on nearly every new release of the year, this one immediately caught my attention and I took it home to read. I found the use of the 2nd person pov a refreshing perspective and was instantly caught up in a love affair with the narrator – his keen wit, unconventional viewpoints and social awkwardness were very endearing. A little into the novel, I started thinking "This guy might be a little creepy." A little further, I started thinking, "Yeah…this guy is kinda creepy.". A little further, and I realize, "Yes. Yes, this guy is definitely a creeper," but yet I'm still somewhat enthralled. His actions and conclusions seem so normal and such a matter-of-course to him, it's very easy to sympathize and see him as the victim rather than the victimizer. I sometimes hesitate to recommend this book to customers as it's so incredibly creepy, but if you are a mature reader with a love for psychological thrillers, this book is an absolute must read!Lisa, GM

Reviews:
A well done psychological thriller. This might even be my favorite psychological thriller book! A woman commits a horrific crime and then goes silent, and is placed In a psychiatric ward. Everyone has given up on trying to reach her except for one young therapist. I love how the author dives into such a serious psychological response and helps us all try to understand it as we read. There's no judgement for those with mental illness and he tries to paint a picture for us what it would be like and to what extents humans will go to when they are fearful and scared. It was amazing to see how the author could develop a character so well even when she didn't speak! There are many surprises, that's probably all I should write! You'll love this!ajskid
This book is an easy and pleasant read. There is little to no suspense, horror or macabre. The "twist" will please some, but will be a bit disappointing to others. The middle of the book is very interesting, moves well, and is the main reason that I pushed my review to 4 stars. The rest of the book (chapters 1-3 or so, and the final twist and conclusion portions) were very run of the mill. This was the first book I purchased in a few years. I am trying to get back to my tradition of buying a bestseller written by an author I am unfamiliar with over the holidays. (This is how I discovered Dan Simmons, whose book "The Terror" stands as one of my most rewarding choices so far). This one was mostly a disappointment. My advice is to find it cheap or even shop for a used copy. There's a good chance you won't hang on to this one.Father Wolverine
Storyline/Overview – Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist and he is interested in Alice's story who has murdered her husband. He is determined to get to the details behind the crime. Even though the patient (Alice) is Silent throughout the narrative, the story progresses to spotlight her complex characteristics. "Unexpressed emotions never die. They are buried alive, and will come forth later, in uglier ways" BEST Psychological Thriller I have read in a long time! My opinion – Very well researched topic and the quotes at the start of every part of the book make sense at the end Every scenario described feels so realistic and I was amazed how much engrossed I was in this book Nice pace and a very easy to understand and read kind of language used The plot has a nice edginess and it wants you to keep turning pages to figure out what happens next! I was amazed at the flawless development of the characters, outstanding buildup and curiosity maintained and in fact increasing as pages turned! The final twist is the unique climax and no matter how much aware you are of the story, you'll still not be able to predict it and I was mind blown by that sole fact The chapters are well divided and the engrossing fast-paced read makes it a page turner for sure! I enjoyed this wonderful psychological drama ride and cannot believe it is debut novel by Alex. Kudos!! Conclusion – It is definitely a clever and intriguing story with a mind-blowing twist to enjoy! The Silent Patient SPEAKS a lot 😉 It is for sure one of my favorite reads of 2019!TheAvidBookerfly

Reviews:
The Good Daughter is the third full-length stand-alone novel by popular American author, Karin Slaughter. Early one May morning, small-town Georgia lawyer Charlotte Quinn is at Pikeville Middle School for an embarrassing reason when she is caught in a school shooting. Quick action by those present averts a major tragedy, but Charlie is disturbed by the actions of the Police officers who attend, and those of a witness who takes an active role, as well as the affect of the shooter. And, inevitably, Charlie is forcefully reminded of the incident that devastated her family, twenty-eight years earlier. Charlie's father, Rusty Quin is a lawyer infamous (and reviled) for representing those that no-one else will: murderers, rapists, petty criminals unlikely to pay. So of course, he is acting for the shooter, which attracts something more than just the usual condemnation from the town. Meanwhile, a certain earlier indiscretion magnifies the awkwardness between Charlie and her estranged husband, Assistant District Attorney, Ben Bernard. Another gripping page-turner from Karin Slaughter in which the action takes place over the space of three days; the recall goes back thirty years. It includes an excellent court scene, lots of clever banter between characters and a generous dose of very dark humour throughout. Slaughter's characters are complex; all have scars, both mental and physical, all are strong but betray very human flaws; there are no saints here, but these characters are easy to care about. And of course, there are twists and red herrings that will keep the reader guessing right up to the final pages. Once again, Slaughter does not disappoint.Cloggie Downunder
The build up to the story is excellent, great suspenseMama

Reviews:
I have just ordered two more copies, after only reading the intro.—and Prof. Peterson's numerous interviews simply expand my own heart. In this climate of high anxiety and appalling lack of compassion, echoed by Hugh MacKay in AUSTRALIA REIMAGINED. It is no wonder that he has an enthralled audience of millions, world- wide. My wish is that Prof. Peterson will produce a primer affirming our children and youth, to give them hope— for our learning young to master before they get to our Uni's. that have to do their own serious reflecting. In my opinion. AND to give our valiant teachers stronger morale and endurance—as so vividly depicted in Gabbie Stroud's TEACHER, also published last year. Finally, the more I devour of the Prof.'s 'Rules' the more I want to yell my rental's roof off , in agreement—our kids CAN be brought up in a far better world, if we follow Jordan's example of such raw courage and exemplary scholarship and teaching. I only wish that I could buy another 12 copies to share around !KCKLL
This is the third book I purchase as a gift. Jordan Peterson tells it as it is in how one should behave to be a functional human being in society. This is sadly supposed to be the role of parents but not many parents nurture their kids anymore by teaching them the basic life skills. I've seen so many young people can't keep their own room organised yet trying to solve the world's most complex problem. Let's keep it to basic – stand up straight, make yourself better than who you are yesterday and clean up your room before you try to solve any life's complex problem. You will be more content and happier in life and no longer feeling depressed all the time. Great for both men, women and anyone. I'm a woman who loves this book. This book has changed my life!!This book changes my life
An excellent book written with great depth and understanding about living a life. It is necessary to read at least twice to get a more complete picture of what Peterson is on about. Best of all this book made me think deeply about living a life and the ultimate ending of that life. Highly recommended but only to serious readers and certainly not for shallow thinking people.Bob

Reviews:
Omg yes. I… wow. It’s just so sad and heartbreaking, it’s so wow I can sometimes predict the twists, but in this case it was so unpredictable, I love it. It does start very slow, I almost wanted to stop reading it but I am so glad I kept reading it, it’s so worth it. One of my favorites at the moment for sure. Totally recommend if u like suspenseful thrillers and a little bit of sadness. I did cry.Sophia
I liked this one. It had its sad moments without a doubt. It also really shed light on how family dynamics change when they experience such trauma. It was a quick read and held my interest. This was my first book from Jewell. I bought it on a whim seeing it at Target. I’d recommend it!kerry.b
I just bought this book from Target online and found that it was missing the first 11 chapters. And then a few pages in chapter 12 is repeated again! So needless to say i returned it back to Target and the team member found 5 more books misprinted like mine. finally found a correct version with all chapters so looking forward to reading it soon, but this was a first for me 🙂MLeonard

Reviews:
Let me first say I usually don't write reviews about anything, but this deserves it. First off, it's an easy read and understanding everything that is going on so you could get thru the series fairly quick, and that is the hard part because you want to finish it as soon as possible, but want it to continue. Hardin and Tessa's relationship is one of the hardest I have ever read, but it is raw and passionate love, and it is the worse kind of love, but that is what love is about, sometimes. I have never cried in my life as much as I have over a book, not even when Dobby dies in Harry Potter. I even threw the books a few times, cursed at it, curled up under my husband's arms because the emotions in their story is so raw.I hated Hardin, loved Hardin, hated Tessa, and loved her again. This book is not for people who take things series , as it does have a lot of emotional abuse in it. At the end of everything no one should go through the process that this couple goes through, but again some people actually do.That is what makes series so great, it could actually happen. And to think it started with a One Direction. I will honestly reread the whole series again, and I don't do that.Nessa
In this twisted and trying tale, an ambitious, college-bound girl, Tessa Young, has found herself entangled with a wild boy that she would have never have given the time of day. Her main goal was to focus on school, her too-good-to-be true boyfriend, Noah, and to start her career in English, but all of that changes after. After she meets Hardin. He is a bad boy with a traumatic past he has completely captured Tessa's attention. In the first book of the After series we find Tessa trying to find out how she fits into her new college life while also figuring out if she is falling for Hardin Scott. My favorite trope is that of enemies to lovers and this book fulfills that fantasy!Mack
Personally, I had watched the first three movies before reading the series. The first book was very sexual and detailed. However, I found myself obsessed. I have completed the book two times before ever finishing the series of books. The books are in my opinion way better than the books. However, watching them first allowed me to imagine Tessa Hardin as the characters presented in the movies. My mother has tried to read the series but found no interest. She prefers the movies and is a book junkie. With all that being said I would say give the book a shot. 👍🏼savannah.p

Product Details:
National book award finalistshort-listed for the man booker prizebrace yourself for the most astonishing, challenging, upsetting, and profoundly moving book in many a season. an epic about love and friendship in the twenty-first century that goes into some of the darkest places fiction has ever traveled and yet somehow improbably breaks through into the light. truly an amazement—and a great gift for its readers. when four classmates from a small massachusetts college move to new york to make their way, they're broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition. there is kind, handsome willem, an aspiring actor; jb, a quick-witted, sometimes cruel brooklyn-born painter seeking entry to the art world; malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prominent firm; and withdrawn, brilliant, enigmatic jude, who serves as their center of gravity. over the decades, their relationships deepen and darken, tinged by addiction, success, and pride. yet their greatest challenge, each comes to realize, is jude himself, by midlife a terrifyingly talented litigator yet an increasingly broken man, his mind and body scarred by an unspeakable childhood, and haunted by what he fears is a degree of trauma that he’ll not only be unable to overcome—but that will define his life forever. in rich and resplendent prose, yanagihara has fashioned a tragic and transcendent hymn to brotherly love, a masterful depiction of heartbreak, and a dark examination of the tyranny of memory and the limits of human endurance.
Reviews:
Haven’t read the book yet but this was highly recommended by my friends that’s why I bought it. The copy I got was in pristine condition. I always worry about ordering books online since most of the time they get damaged during delivery. However, this wasn’t the case for this one.Marie
I was looking for something new to read and saw this book on a 'Top 100 Must Read' type online site. So thought I'd give it a go. It took a short while to get into the characters and remember who was who (as there were quite a few to begin with). But once in… I was gripped. Such a beautiful, thought provoking book. So sad and distressing at times, but done in such an empathetic way, it didn't upset me too much. The characters are so individually great that you genuinely can't wait to read another page. I have already recommended this book to a friend and bought it for another. This book is so different to your usual 'easy read' type of book and extremely addictive once started. I honestly couldn't stop reading it. Some days, for hours! The content of the book could be too much for some people, but the way the writer portrayed such sadness and badness, made it that much more interesting. Certainly a 5/5 book. Buy. I know you won't regret it.jesslovesmax

Reviews:
I just finished this book and i love it! It was however $20 which is way more than I would usually pay for a book, but it was more than worth it. This book is basically two in one. Without spoiling anything I would say that the book is so detailed you can really imagine it as you read. Which is great…for most of the book. It definitely has a very questionable part however, and i would only recommend reading it if you aren't grossed out easily.liam.b
I'm a huge King fan. This is the first King book I ever read. I was in high school and I was a big reader, someone recommended it to me. I couldn't put it down. And I couldn't sleep! I love how King weaves such amazing histories for small town USA and Derry has become a favorite haunt for King fans. It is a little long in some of the history of Derry places, but it's an amazing story about friendship and a promise. And of course theres the terrifying clown that everyone remembers. Grab a copy and settle down for a long read and a very long night. We all float down here.heather.a

Received a paperback! This page needs to be edited. CS told me that they could not edit it for future purchasers, but that if I left a review maybe the poor ratings would allow the change in information by another department? Clearly the title says Hardcover. CS pointed out that the description further down the page states paperback. Bummer. I like Hardcover texts. Chose not to deal with the return and repurchase during COVID-19 quarantine because I really would like to read it. Really thought it was a HC because just recently purchased The Outsider in HC for similar price and had no problems.

Great Book full of wonderful stories. My favorite one is "The Unsung Song of Mary Galliger" written by the late author Linda Lay Shuler. Shuler has always been by far my all time favorire writer, and its sad that at the age of 100, she just receintly passed away a few months ago. She will truly be missed. This entire book is filled with wonderful stories from many of the best writers out there, and I STRONGLY recommend it for anyone who loves reading from a wide variety of subjets. Love, mystery, drama, this one book has it all.greedyman_1

Reviews:
Great book! I bought it after spending hours combing through articles online and elsewhere about how to write a sellable novel and what to expect after you did. Obviously, there is a very large, heterogeneous industry out there, and everybody has their own experiences, expectations, and opinions. It's enough to make a writer consider giving up the dream, really. I am so thankful for the team that put this work together. Their common-sense approach sought to incorporate many of the most widely-held opinions out there, using direct quotes from the best-known authors, editors, and publishers. The book explains the difference…the real difference, not just the one you'll find in a writing dictionary…between such things as literary fiction and commercial fiction. It talks of genres and sub-genres and the choices required of the author in them all. The book is such an easy read and yet powerful in the sheer volume of great information compiled within its covers. Everybody who wants to have a book published needs to read this book.skingid
