I know A.J. work for a long time. Everything that is said is true. We don't need to learn grammar so much. We don't need to be stressed so much learning. As for me when I was forty (2000y.)I nearly forgot the English alphabet, not to say more. And I decided to literally revive my English, not brush up. It was before I heard anything of A.J. as a teacher. Every day while a year or more I had read children's books aloud. It was very interesting for me, because I didn't have a level enough to read books for adults. Imagine, in 2002 just in 2 years I passed FCE exams and go the certificate without any drills or preparations. After that when I read in the internet of A.J.'s sets for learning I was impressed with the idea that was so similar to my approach, but probably was more correct, because you learn grammar subconsciously with simple stories,but showing correct using English Tenses, probably the more complicated part of English language, because the other part of it much easier one in comparison with German language for example. I have been using this book to help a Portuguese speaker to learn English from scratch. It is excellent. There are four books in the series plus a book on business English. If you want to negotiate a contract in English you would need all 5. But for visiting the shops and living in England you could get by with just book 1. There is a backup website and you can choose the language of the website. On the other hand you cannot buy the book in other languages. All in English. However we are getting on just fine with that. The book contains all you need to learn English. Including tests, with answers at the back of the book. You can learn by yourself using the website to get the pronunciation.
