1. Malignant Self-Love: Narcissism Revisited (Full Text, 10th Edition) [Book]

Product Details:
The full text of sam vaknin's classic, groundbreaking bible of narcissism and narcissistic abuse, now in its 10th edition. tips and advice as well as the most complete clinical background. narcissistic personality disorder and its effects on the narcissist, the psychopath and their nearest and dearest in a variety of settings: the family, workplace, in church, the community, law enforcement, and politics. 100 frequently asked questions and two essays – a total of 730 pages! updated to reflect the new criteria in the recent fifth edition of the diagnostic and statistical manual (dsm). you are not alone! are you abused? stalked? harassed? victimized? confused and frightened? were you brought up by a narcissistic or psychopathic parent? married to a narcissist or a psychopath – or divorcing one? afraid your children will turn out to be narcissists or psychopaths? want to cope with this pernicious, baffling condition? or: are you a narcissist or a psychopath – or suspect that you may be one … this book will teach you how to cope, survive, and protect your loved ones!" malignant self-love: narcissism revisited" is based on correspondence since 1996 with hundreds of people diagnosed with narcissistic and antisocial personality disorders (narcissists and psychopaths) and with thousands of their suffering family members, friends, therapists, and colleagues. the first ever book about narcissistic abuse, malignant self-love: narcissism revisited offers a detailed, first hand account of what it is like to have narcissistic personality disorder. it contains new insights and an organized methodological framework. the book comprises more than 100 frequently asked questions (faqs) regarding relationships with abusive narcissists and the narcissistic personality disorder.what is a personality disorder? such a person takes behavioral, emotional, and cognitive cues exclusively from others. his inner world is, so to speak, vacated. his true self is dilapidated and dysfunctional. instead he has a tyrannical and delusional false self. such a person is incapable of loving and of living. he cannot love others because he cannot love himself. he loves his reflection, his surrogate self. and he is incapable of living because life is a struggle towards, a striving, a drive at something. in other words: life is change. he who cannot change cannot live.the narcissist is an actor in a monodrama, yet forced to remain behind the scenes. the scenes take center stage, instead. the narcissist does not cater at all to his own needs. contrary to his reputation, the narcissist does not "love" himself in any true sense of the word. he feeds off other people, who hurl back at him an image that he projects to them. this is their sole function in his world: to reflect, to admire, to applaud, to detest – in a word, to assure him that he exists. otherwise, the narcissist feels, they have no right to tax his time, energy, or emotions.the posting of malignant self love – narcissism revisited on the web in 1997 has elicited a flood of excited, sad and heart rending responses, mostly from victims of narcissists but also from people suffering from npd. this is a true picture of the resulting correspondence with them. this book is not intended to please or to entertain. npd is a pernicious, vile and tortuous disease, which affects not only the narcissist. it infects and forever changes people who are in daily contact with the narcissist. in other words: it is contagious. it is my contention that narcissism is the mental epidemic of the twentieth century, a plague to be fought by all means. this tome is my contribution to minimizing the damages of this disorder.

Very well written and laid out. It runs through the nine major characteristics of a Narcissist and how to deal with them. My only wish (and this is not deducting how beneficial this book has been to me) is that it does not include a questionnaire to determine without the help of a counsellor if you may have Narcissist characteristics or have been dealing with a Narcissist. Some of the real life examples are a bit light. Overall a great read though and a great starting point.Anna
A good start to attempt understanding the Narcissist in your life. A must read when you are unable to terminate the relationship with the Narcissist, ie; Son, Daughter, Mother. If a wife, rundinafolke
6. Rethinking Narcissism: The Secret To Recognizing And Coping With Narcissists [Book]

Product Details:
Harvard medical school psychologist and huffington post blogger craig malkin addresses the "narcissism epidemic," by illuminating the spectrum of narcissism, identifying ways to control the trait, and explaining how too little of it may be a bad thing." what is narcissism?" is one of the fastest rising searches on google, and articles on the topic routinely go viral. yet, the word "narcissist" seems to mean something different every time it's uttered. people hurl the word as insult at anyone who offends them. it's become so ubiquitous, in fact, that it's lost any clear meaning. that's especially troubling news for millennials, the people born after 1980, who've been branded the "most narcissistic generation ever." in rethinking narcissism readers will learn that there's far more to narcissism than its reductive invective would imply. a healthy middle exhibits a strong sense of self. on the far end lies sociopathy. malkin deconstructs healthy from unhealthy narcissism and offers clear, step-by-step guidance on how to promote healthy narcissism in our partners, our children, and ourselves.
Reviews:
This book is good for the bare basics of narcissism but it only briefly touches on Narcissistic Personality Disorder(NPD)Mal
Excellent book on understanding and living with people with narcissism. Looks at narcissism from the continuum perspective, narcissism is healthy at the centre of the scale, and unhealthy at both extremes. It is useful to understand that teen narcissism is normal. The book gives helpful assistance on how to relate to loved ones which those traits. It is not unrealistic and does recognise and give advice about the destructive levels of narcissism. The book is refreshingly assistive instead of righting off people who can be difficult to live with. We are all somewhere on the scale. It does get a bit slow reading in the second half of the book but still gives good advice.Nautical
As a student of human behavior, I am captivated by this revolutionary insight into the world of the Narcissist. Not only is the research into narcissism and the Narcissism Scale fascinating, Dr Malkin provides astute guidance on dealing with the Narcissists and Echoists in our lives. I have already recommended this book to 5 people, and will continue to recommend it. Excellent, compelling read. Excellent value!gardagirl2012

The book is misleading, it makes it seem like a guide on how to spot and deal with narcissism but it just devolves into political garbage like trump. Reviews:
Maybe I just had to be extra, extra sure, or maybe I needed all the affirmation I could get, but this was the FIFTH book I read on the subject of narcissism (not to mention the countless searches and investigations on the Web). Don't let the simplistic title and graphics of this book dissuade you from what I believe to be THE BEST BOOK YET ON NARCISSISM. The authors offer an in-depth, intelligent, honest-but-compassionate, very well-rounded discussion of a very complex disorder. This book left me feeling so informed, comforted, and resolved, that I don't feel the need to look any further. Though many reviews endorse Vaknin's book, Malignant Self Love, as "THE ONE", I found it repetitive, tedious, poorly edited, and lacking in empathy for the narcissist's victims–too much about the narcissist, what and how he is, and why he is how he is. But that's the stuff of a whole different review. Simply put, it was exhausting, and victims of narcissism are already exhausted enough. Read HELP, I'M IN LOVE… I'm confident you'll feel much better emotionally, as well as equipped to make some very difficult decisions.more-in-store!

10. The Muslim Narcissist: An Islamic Guide To Understanding, Surviving And Healing From Narcissistic And Spiritual Abuse [Book]

Product Details:
Narcissism is a personality disorder that is essentially a by-product of deeply rooted issues from childhood and an over-inflated ego that pursues evil desires at the expense of one's faith, morals and the feelings of others. for years, psychologists, sociologists and mental health experts have dived deeply into the phenomena of narcissistic behaviour, providing a great scope of knowledge from their extensive studies. some of these observations come from a christian perspective, but within the context of islamic psychology, knowledge about where narcissism comes from is scarce. it is important to understand why narcissism is becoming more prevalent among muslims, when in fact there are teachings in islam that guide us on how to identify, avoid, deal with and overcome it. patriarchal societies are primarily associated with men who have narcissistic tendencies, however more and more women are displaying similar behaviours in their relationships too. if you are one of the many people who have come into contact with muslim narcissists, you will know how difficult it is to maintain relationships with them. as a british muslim sociologist and counsellor, i often see that many men, women and children have been suffering for years as a result of other muslims distorting the meaning of various teachings from the qur'an and hadiths into justifications for their religious and spiritual abuse and oppression. there are many detrimental consequences for this, the major one being the depletion of faith from the hearts of those who associate problematic attitudes and characteristics with islamic teachings, due to a lack of awareness of narcissism. in this book, i will share with you what the islamic faith tells us about narcissism and where it comes from, how people develop this disorder, how to recognize and avoid muslim narcissists and how to help and deal with them, enabling you to move on from a toxic situation. i will give you fascinating insights as to why you attract them and how to break the cycle of being a victim, so you can attract healthy people and relationships into your lives. this book will also serve as an eye-opener for those who possess strong narcissistic traits for them to see the negative long-term impact their behaviour has not just on the lives of others and the community, but on their own lives if left unaddressed. i truly believe when people face their demons and heal from their traumas, our muslim homes and communities will be healed and saved too. "indeed, allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves." (al-qur'an, al-ra'd: 11)

You try to understand how another human being could psychologically terrorize you in the manner that the narcissist you were with did to you. you loved this person and they said they loved you back. they participated in the relationship and it seemed like 'normal' reciprocation as far as them loving you back. what did you do wrong, why did this person that you loved unconditionally now seems to hate you and blame you and what is the reason? they have probably moved on very quickly and are with someone new and they are saying that they are in love and it is amazing. they are also saying that they basically had to run from you because you were impossible to deal with, or perhaps you have mental health issues, or you abused them. you feel frozen in time, very vulnerable, and in shock or better yet traumatized from this and you want to dig through all of the layers and understand this so you can move on, but you just can't seem to do so. family and friends are there to support you but more than likely it is to give you a small pat on the back and say time will heal your wounds, or you have to move on, or how could you stay in this relationship for as long as you have if it was this bad. when you try to tell your story it is so incredulous that most people seem to be in shock over the allegations that you are proposing about the relationship. in turn you only feel like you are the problem and you blame yourself even more and maybe you start to believe that you were the problem just like that narcissist said. you feel like your spirit is gone and your whole belief system has been thrown out the door about life. where do you start, how do you turn off the many negative messages? how do you reclaim your spirt and join life again? who do you go to for the help that you need and why is this taking so long to get over? every day is a struggle and you want this to stop now and you want to move on. you have heard 'things' your narcissist has said about you to the very people you love in your life and now they may be challenging you or questioning this from the narcissist's point of view. you are defending yourself when you shouldn't have to. again you are feeling you are the problem here and all of this has become insurmountable. well i totally believe you, i totally understand what you are going through and i am going to explain this abuse in a manner to educate you, as well as help you embrace this in a manner to achieve closure on your own. i am going to try to explain as much of this as i possibly can to help you get through this and achieve that "ah ha' moment where you do 'get this'. i am going to do this in a manner that goes beyond the clinical definitions and put it out there in a raw manner with real definitions and explanations from the perspective of a person that has gone through this and returned back to a normal lifestyle. with each and every separate topic i am going to keep bringing you back to some of the same specific points i may have already covered in a manner that not only defines a specific situation but constantly reconnects it to the bigger picture! i will repeat and connect thoughts in each chapter because there is no real 'rhyme or reason' to this abuse, only the truth and facts that every target/victim of this abuse experiences the same thing. that is what i am trying to connect you to! each chapter is its own separate story so you can read a chapter at a time, return and connect to a new definition that brings you back to a little more of the truth and understanding the total picture step by step.

Jessica D. Washington takes her readers on a ride where we experience her heartbreaks, moments of doubt, triumphs, self hate and finally discovering self love. Her uncompromising honesty inspires us to see ourselves in her own flaws and mistakes. The readers are thrust into her captivating world and we recognize our parents, partners, loved ones – and possibly themselves in her abusers. The diary entries were heartbreaking – how much can a person take? We saw in what felt like real-time the authors reality slip away from her and the effects of narcissists abuse. This book is very necessary as a cautionary tale of what like is like with a narcissist. I highly recommend reading When Love Isn’t Enough- Life After Dealing With A Narcissist.Perfectlytrice

I got this for my boyfriend who's a definite narcissist will ex-boyfriend after this book LOL thank you for identifying ssues.zorrobridget
I recommend this book for anyone dealing with a narcissistic person, or for anyone that wants to change their own narcissistic behavior. I have struggled with a narcissistic daughter for over 30 years, and this book enabled me to finally understand her behavior, what caused it and how I can deal with it in an effective way. The book also helped me to recognize and change my own narcissistic behaviors. After reading it, I realized that most of us exhibit some of these behaviors, while others let this disorder define their lives. The latter scenario is horribly difficult to deal with, it makes you question your own sanity, and leaves you feeling frustrated and literally exasperated. This book is a must read!anniebellelee
Small book with basic info. I expected more from the combination of 3 therapists.
