I bought this tape after having used 3M book tape to repair many, many of our kids' books. I saw good reviews for this tape and finally decided to shell out a lot more money based on those. After getting it and finally using it after the 3M tape ran out, I am extremely disappointed. It's much thinner than the 3M, making it hard to use without it ripping, and it feels about as substantial as basic packing tape. I'll stick with 3M in the future.Patrick W.

This is a linen tape with gummed backing from Lineco, primarily for repairing book bindings. The gummed backing requires water to stick. This has the advantage over pressure sensitive tape that you can can move and adjust it before it sets, however it does have problems. The backing makes the tape stiff so it does may not adhere well to surfaces (it tends to curl). It does have a seam down the middle so it fits book hinges. The other problem is that the gum does not always stick well, similar to old style postage stamps if you know what I mean. I ended up using acid free glue (similar to white Elmer's but specifically for book repair) when the gum failed. I think you may be better off using linen or cotton material (without adhesive) and book repair glue, if you can find these items. The price is reasonable though, for this tape product.fantao

I have used this tape to repair broken book spines as well as many other items. It is strong and clear, with reliable adhesive. It is easy to smooth and stays put. Book binding and book repair is a new interest of mine for the past 6 1/2 years for my own enjoyment. I'm in the process of repairing and rebinding some old books in my personal library. I received a free sample of 3M CLEAR REPAIR TAPE from PinchMe and am so glad I did! Just like every home should have duct tape, every home should also have this clear repair tape. Since it's weather and waterproof, I used it to create a makeshift greenhouse with clear vinyl and make it look so seamless and so far it's holding together very well. It's stretchy enough to mold seamlessly to a rounded object, unlike magic tape of clear packaging tape. I actually compare this to electrical tape because is has a bit of stretch and strength, but this is much more versatile because it is clear and can be used on many things. I'm very impressed with 3M Clear Repair Tape after using it to repair a ripped patio screen, patch up a torn cardboard box and seal up a leaking pipe until the plumber could arrive. This tape really does it all for small repairs, and the clear color help keep repairs looking more attractive than using shiny silver duct tape that sticks out like a sore thumb. The tape sticks well, tears by hand if you don't have scissors handy (it's not perfect, but you CAN tear it), and is reliable for general home repair needs. We actually used our 3M Clear Repair Tape that we got courtesy of PINCHme during our current remodel. I'll be honest, I really didn't think it would hold up as well as it did and that we would be reapplying it constantly until our permanent fix. I expected to use most of the roll, but ended up not even needing a yard! We used it to cover 3 large holes drilled from the interior through the exterior siding in order to replace our electrical panel. We are having the siding repaired, but not for another month or so because of material shortage, so this product was put right to use as a temporary solution. I applied strips to the interior and exterior 2 weeks ago and they are still holding strong in place with zero moisture/water leaks. We live on the coast less than a mile from the ocean and have had some nice rain storms over the last few weeks, so this is impressive! There are still no signs of needing to replace the tape (and trust me, I check daily haha). This tape does an awesome job of sealing up air leaks! I sealed up my college-aged daughter's apartment windows using this tape in no time. They were so drafty before I applied this tape. It took no time at all and now there are no drafts coming in the sides of the windows any longer. You will need a knife or good, sharp scissors to cut this stuff, but that just tells you how tough it is. It does a great job sticking to all kinds of surfaces and hasn't peeled up at all. The Duck brand all weather repair tape works just as expected. My parents always seal off their kitchen window with the Duck brand window insulation plastic. They recently had some tears in the plastic which this repair tape worked as if it “stitched” up the tear. I tried this tape last week and i freakin love it!. I used it to fix a leak in my plastic shed outside. It worked so good. The heavy snow we had a few months ago really did some damage to the top of my new shed. I tried this just to see if it would seal a small leak. To my surprise it definitely did. I needed napkin rings for an upcoming Easter dinner, and the results were beautiful. Since the tape is canvas, I rolled off 6" strips and placed them on a sheet of acetate. I painted them with an abstract pattern using Golden transparent acrylics I made a chipboard circle and covered it with the tape, wrapping it to the inside on the edges.The addition of a little bit of ribbon and a pretty charm finished them off. I love all of Lineco's book-making materials.inkyfingers
