Reviews:
We used the brand new version I am not terribly familiar with the older version but the new one has a red level for pre-reading Purple for K Green for 1st grade and Blue for 2nd grade I didn't purchase the red set because my son already knew all of his letter sounds The Purple K level of this program was terrific I was having difficulty teaching my son to blend the letter sounds to make words and this program worked great to teach him that I really liked the little purple books and the reading in the manual was great too My son really liked the videos HOP also has a website where I can download free worksheets and other activities for the lessons What I did not like about this program was the other books The books that didn't have purple covers seemed to be just thrown into the program with no rhyme or reason The program waits until the Blue 2nd grade level to introduce long vowels but they are in these reading books as early as the K program If your child is really good at guessing or has tried another phonics program this might work but my son just found it extremely frustrating I insisted he finish the first half of the green 1st grade program but it was like pulling teeth and after that I gave up Now I have the very difficult problem of placing a child who can read short vowel words into another program when most other programs introduce the short and long vowels early on In short the K level was great but be prepared to backtrack a bit into another phonics program after that
My granddaugther is in kindergarten and the presentation of the material is entertaining for her.Randall
My daughter loves it. It's really helpful to learn phonics!!Angela

Reviews:
Purchased for my 8 year old granddaughter, looks excellent. We promised to buy her the set if she finished the first book, which she did in a very short time. She is delighted.Sylvia
This particular set of Harry Potter books is very good. First off, it has The Philosopher's Stone, not The Sorcerer's Stone. All the books are in perfect condition with amazing art on both the front and back of all 7 books. It is exactly the same as any other copy of Harry Potter you will find, if you were to compare these books with ones from 2007, you would find no difference in any of the wording. One thing that sets this set apart from any other is that parts where a character is reading a leaflet or letter is depicted with a special font or some sort of symbol to make it look like the character is reading it. (I'm not sure if this is the norm now, my previous set of HP books was quite old) An example of this is when Harry finds blood writing on the wall, the text is written in a front as if it was blood that has dripped downwards a bit. In the older books however, the text simply would have been separated from the main paragraph and made bold. The words are well spaced out, making some of the books thicker than my old set and some thinner. Again though, they are identical in terms of words, down to the last character. Overall, a fantastic series made even better by a great set of quality, cheap books.Callum
Arrived in perfect condition. Each book's dust cover is so beautiful and has a soft nap feel to them. The hardback cover itself is good quality too. I love how every book has simple diagrams/pictures , can't remember if this came with the books all those years ago when i was first reading them. All in all, very happy with my purchase!Tina

Reviews:
Really happy I have found these books, from doing lots of searching online for some different first readers for my son. They are perfect for the level he is at in prep at the moment, we can sound out the words together. He really likes the different little stories in the book & the line drawings. Very happy to have found these series of books.Sarah
I've purchased many sets of early readers but most have been predictable text which means the little ones can guess or memorise the word. This set is truly decodable and starts very very easy! Meaning they have to sound out the letters for the words. I'm going on to purchase the whole set! If your little one knows the alphabet and is working on letter sounds they will be able to read these books!Tash
My youngest child enjoys these short, little books. These help build his confidence with small sentences. His attention span is short. He tends to opt for these books, so he can read all by himself. It warms this mother’s heart.candy.s
11. Ivy & Bean Boxed Set: Books 7-9 (Books About Friendship, Gifts For Young Girls) [Book]

Product Details:
New york times best-selling series of books for children – ivy + bean – ivy and bean, two friends who never meant to like each other: this boxed set, ivy and bean boxed set: books 7-9 continues the story of these two spunky characters. it includes the third of three books in the ivy and bean series. – author annie barrows talks about her award-winning ivy + bean series: one of the big problems of being a kid is that your parents often try to make you play with people you don't really like. my parents were forever trying to get me to like the kids of their friends. these kids were often weird. i didn't want to play with them. it was a problem. – ivy and bean are very different: bean is loud and wild and goofy. she loves to be involved in games and poke her nose in other people's business. ivy is quiet and full of ideas. she spends most of her time learning how to be a witch. each girl thinks the other one is weird. each girl thinks she could never be friends with the other. especially because their parents keep nagging them about it. but sometimes opposites can become the best of friends because they're opposites. wouldn't it be cool if ivy and bean found the solution to global warming? wouldn't it be especially cool if the solution was shimmering pink goo in a test-tube and all the famous scientists in the world wished they had thought of it first? it's science fair time at emerson school, and all the kids are supposed to find a way to cool down the earth. some kids are planting trees. some kids are holding their breath for a very, very long time. some kids are doing interesting things with vacuum cleaners. but what should ivy and bean do? something with explosions? something with ropes? something with ice cubes? or maybe something very, very quiet . . . book 8: ivy + bean: no news is good news: ivy and bean need some money. ten dollars, to be exact. never mind what for. don't even ask. okay, it's for cheese. two bags of lowfat belldeloon cheese in a special just-for-you serving size. don't ask why. but ten dollars is a lot of money. how are bean and ivy going to make ten dollars? should they babysit? eww, diapers. no. should they wash the car? they're not allowed to touch the car. no. should they write a newspaper about their neighbors and sell it? yes. great idea-and easy too! all ivy and bean have to do is snoop around pancake court and gets some news. it's very interesting what you can find out if you look in your neighbors' windows. it's even more interesting when the neighbors read about it in the newspaper. – book 9: ivy + bean make the rules: it's spring break, and bean's older sister, nancy, is going to girl power 4-ever camp, where she will do crafts and dance and first aid and other secret things that bean will never know about because you have to be eleven to go to girl power 4-ever camp. bean doesn't care. she doesn't want to go to camp. she wouldn't go even if they begged her. so ha. so ha ha. so-wait a second! bean and ivy can make their own camp, their own better camp. it's camp flaming arrow, where crafts include escaping, dance includes thumbtacks, first aid includes zombies, and counselors ivy and bean make the rules. – if you and your child liked junie b. jones, magic tree house books, and princess in black; you'll love ivy & bean.

Bob Books are great for new readers. I was looking for a book that focused on three letter words and simple pictures that tell the story. These books do it and now the new edition of 'Sight Words' are great since in Kindergarten these words are being introduced at the same time. The characters stay the same from Book 1 Beginner Reader to the end of the series. I am definitely saving these books for my 11 month son from my 5 year old son.Tashavi

We purchased this book to try alongside the Reading Eggs program for our kindergartener who was struggling to remember letters. I really like the number of pages and activities. The Reading Eggs app is great alongside this, but I imagine it would work well on its own as well, it's a good-sized book with great content for learning the alphabet and beginning sight words.Mee

I'm a Classical Christian Education homeschooling teacher mama. I pull my materials from here and there and a lot of vintage material. While we love reading, my kiddos also love workbooks with the instant gratification of a job well done and a concept mastered. I'm always hesitant to buy all in one grade level workbooks because they often miss so much, are cheaply made, cheesy annoying materials and so on. Let me tell you how impressed I am constantly finding myself with Carson Dellosa materials! These Essentials workbooks are delightful! The materials are durable and they are printed on the heavier grafite thirsty paper, perfect for a new to penmanship child still learning how much pressure is appropriate. They are colorful and full of wonderful illustrations and clip art style imagery. My kids took to these immediately out of the box and beg to do more every day. I have been using the Kindergarten Essentials with my non-writing three-year-old and First Grade Essentials with my "spirited" attention span of a butterfly six-year-old and they are a fantastic fit. My son is starting to trace and he is excited to show work accomplished. He is learning and able to have something to show for what he has already mastered orally and mentally. My daughter is finding gaps that she is filling and strengthening as she prepares to continue on to more elementary school material and move beyond the primary skills. The price is just unbelievable and I cannot wait to recommend these more and more. I am seriously impressed that I'm almost at a lack for words. I participate in the Brand Ambassador Program for Carson-Dellosa and have received this product for free to review.CherryBlossomMJ

Love the book – it's my go to for baby showers (though clearly not the age group it is meant for). I really enjoyed 'reading' it with my kids when they were young – so many different things to see on every page and story lines to follow. We used to have each season as a separate board book – it was fun to lay them open next to each other and match up the pictures.utrechtnl
This book is composed of the four seasons and follows different characters throughout the year. A fun book to look at for kids…. lots to see and imagine. There is no written text. Drawn by Rotraut Susanne Berner, a German artist. Personally I love this book!gingersocks
