Reviews:
Good Day, I ordered this book for our small town library because it had good reviews and would be of interest to some of our patrons. We don't have much money – we are not funded by state or county government – so every dollar has to count. I love the fact that Books a Million offers a reliable summery, reviews, recommendations or even cautions. Julianne J. WoodcockJulianne
2. No Country For Old Men [Book]

Product Details:
From the bestselling, pulitzer prize–winning author of the road comes a "profoundly disturbing and gorgeously rendered" novel (the washington post) that returns to the texas-mexico border, setting of the famed border trilogy. the time is our own, when rustlers have given way to drug-runners and small towns have become free-fire zones. one day, a good old boy named llewellyn moss finds a pickup truck surrounded by a bodyguard of dead men. a load of heroin and two million dollars in cash are still in the back. when moss takes the money, he sets off a chain reaction of catastrophic violence that not even the law—in the person of aging, disillusioned sheriff bell—can contain. as moss tries to evade his pursuers—in particular a mysterious mastermind who flips coins for human lives—mccarthy simultaneously strips down the american crime novel and broadens its concerns to encompass themes as ancient as the bible and as bloodily contemporary as this morning’s headlines. no country for old men is a triumph.look for cormac mccarthy's new novel, the passenger, coming october '22.
Reviews:
This novel is America's best novelist's best novel. No Country For Old Men is entertaining and exciting. It paints a true picture of 1980's West Texas. The characters are spot-on, the plot is original and interesting. I'm reminded of a famous Texas movie critic's remarks concerning as to why the motion picture industry is so interested in Texas: because evil thrives in Texas. In No Country For Old Men, as in real life: evil thrives in Texas.JIM
I bought this after buying and reading 'The Road' by the same author. He has a unique and easy to read writing style. It's all story, no messing about. But it is subtle as well, it's not until half way through the book you realise the story isn't about who you thought it was. Like 'The Road', it's a very dark story, this isn't a cheer you up book. It pulls no punches, it is heavy on the violence and at times it is downright mean. Which is what makes it a superb story. If the movie is half as good as the book, it is no wonder it got four oscars.Richard
After having seen the film adaptation, I was interested to find out how the novel compared. I could tell straight away that the film stayed true to the source material as the novel was just as tense if not more so than the film. This was a book I found really hard to put down. `No country for old men' relies heavily on atmosphere and tension, and as such, keeps you wanting to read more and more.ricrick.dlrhq

You was interesting and highly engrossing from the very beginning. I enjoyed that the story is from 2nd narration. The story is a little bit creepy, but not too creepy. It does feature lots of stalking, violence, and murder, just so people are aware before starting the book.Peppermint1991
This was definitely very different than what I have ever read before. Creepy. Odd. Messes up with your mind but addicting. This book is not for everyone. *Note: I read this way before the TV series came out. Still haven't watched it yet.I am so conflicted in whether I like or hate Joe Goldberg. He is a creepy, smart, psychotic stalker. I should dislike him for that but sometimes I don't. He is a hopeless romantic that needs help. But I don't think any help will actually help him. He knows what he is doing therefore none of his actions are acceptable. Joe meets Guinevere Beck at the bookstore he works at and is instantly obsessed. He will do anything for her, and he does. Every other character in this book isn't any better than him in a way. Yes they don't stalk and hurt people but their actions and personality aren't the greatest either. This book is a crazy read. It will make you so conflicted because you will hate yourself for liking this guy.tiffany.l
Received a copy of this novel as an advanced reader edition in my store a month or two before the release date. While I lay hands on nearly every new release of the year, this one immediately caught my attention and I took it home to read. I found the use of the 2nd person pov a refreshing perspective and was instantly caught up in a love affair with the narrator – his keen wit, unconventional viewpoints and social awkwardness were very endearing. A little into the novel, I started thinking "This guy might be a little creepy." A little further, I started thinking, "Yeah…this guy is kinda creepy.". A little further, and I realize, "Yes. Yes, this guy is definitely a creeper," but yet I'm still somewhat enthralled. His actions and conclusions seem so normal and such a matter-of-course to him, it's very easy to sympathize and see him as the victim rather than the victimizer. I sometimes hesitate to recommend this book to customers as it's so incredibly creepy, but if you are a mature reader with a love for psychological thrillers, this book is an absolute must read!Lisa, GM

Epic fantasy set in a universe where human nature is similar to our own, but supernatural powers exist. Brandon Sanderson is a master storyteller and The Way of Kings begins his 10 volume saga (hes currently writing the 5th). But even if you read it as a stand alone, The Way of Kings will not disappoint.librariegrrl
I love this book. I read the second book straight away, I am totally hooked. I love the characters, the way the story jumps from past to present and how the focus moves between the characters in the book. I am now also inspired to read the other books by Brandon as I have learnt that they all tie together somehow, sort of like the Marvel Universe. The only book I would recommend as highly as this book is 'The Name of the Wind' by Patrick Rothfuss. Peace love and light, Adamadamtehwizard

Received a paperback! This page needs to be edited. CS told me that they could not edit it for future purchasers, but that if I left a review maybe the poor ratings would allow the change in information by another department? Clearly the title says Hardcover. CS pointed out that the description further down the page states paperback. Bummer. I like Hardcover texts. Chose not to deal with the return and repurchase during COVID-19 quarantine because I really would like to read it. Really thought it was a HC because just recently purchased The Outsider in HC for similar price and had no problems.

Great deal and better booksSUSAN
These are massive paperback books I don’t break the spines on my books but I’m afraid these might break on their own under the weight of the book. These books are by far the thickest I own and they aren’t very tall which creates almost a cube shape (an exaggeration) The price for the set is great and they are very nice looking books I’m excited to read them. If you’re thinking about this set the price can’t be beat!Bryn

Martin L

Reviews:
William Gibson tillbaka i god stil. Tove S
THE PERIPHERAL by William Gibson is one of the most prescient Science Fiction novels of the twenty-first century. Gibson, best known for his cyberpunk novels NEUROMANCER and MONA LISA OVERDRIVE, creates a future North America where governments are micromanaged not only by big businesses, but from multi-national conglomerates from other dimensions – corporate entities with the means to contact one reality from another. The most telling feature of THE PERIPHERAL is how the author includes the use of drones – those that fly, and others that walk and talk and look very much like "us." Having met and listened to the author speak on various subjects, I am in awe of his writing style, but even more his uncanny knack for maintaining steady pressure on the very pulse of all that is current, hep, and NOW. Readers will find his latest novel a compelling journey, with memorable characters – one of those books that, once one is finished reading it, the reader is sad to have left the world and its people.vonblut

One book was exactly as described. The second copy was in poor conditions and the book cover was completely different then what was pictured – as in Ive never even scene that cover before. I now need to find another book – as I needed multiple copies and want them all to match. I felt like it was a bait and switch. Book on the right with the black cover is what was shown – but these are the two books that arrived.blivin
