But I bought it to relieve some back and shoulder pain resulting from reading in bed at night and holding 500 page books (or the iPad) over my head for long periods of time. It was a little more fun than I anticipated. G panel connecting top and bottom sections didn't have pin holes drilled. Unfortunately I went ahead and used included screws to attach panel to top section. Then I planned to just drill 5/16" deep holes, with a drill bit the same diameter as the other pin holes and taped off to not exceed the proper 5/16" depth, after measuring position of receiver holes and lock nuts in the lower section. No problem. But I had inadvertently put the screws in positions where the pin holes needed to go on 3 of them. I was able to drill one pin hole and use that pin with locking nuts. Luckily I had one inside 90 deg metal bracket and several outside 90 deg brackets that I used to attach lower section to G panel and upper section. Outside brackets are in back so they don't show. No big deal in the end, just a bit more fun than planned. I wonder how many of these were produced with the G panel missing pin holes? I bet some home owners were flummoxed if they ran up against this defect that was in my product. They might have to take the thing back, and that would be after partial assembly. And it's stinking heavy to carry around, at that. Man. Mine came out looking fine and is strong and good. No problem. But I couldn't recommend this to a friend. My friends, even guys, are not very handy and would have no idea what to do with this G panel when they saw it was missing its pin holes.carly
Terribly disappointed… I saw this bookcase in our local store, was impressed by its quality. Unfortunately, our store did not have these in stock. I subsequently purchased two units from two different stores. I was excited to get these home & put together. My excitement was short-lived as both units included one part without the drilled holes, totally halting the build. After speaking with several people, we finally have replacement parts coming. However, these parts have an estimated delivery of 4-6 weeks.LDunson4285
This is a nice looking bookshelf, and it was easy to follow the directions, however, unfortunately mine is very flimsy. When I tried moving it to the corner of the room it felt like it was going to fall apart and some of the decorative pieces did fall off. I’ve built a lot furniture (inexpensive dresser, tv stand, couch, dog house) and did not have problems, so I’m pretty confident I followed the directions correctly. With the pieces provided, the bookshelf is able to stand in place, however it is flimsy if you move it and it feels like it will fall apart if you love it. I would recommend spending a little more money on a higher quality product.Kristin
