1. Calculus Made Easy [Book]
Product Details:
Thompson and martin gardner has long been the most popular calculus primer. this major revision of the classic math text makes the subject at hand still more comprehensible to readers of all levels. with a new introduction, three new chapters, modernized language and methods throughout, and an appendix of challenging and enjoyable practice problems, calculus made easy has been thoroughly updated for the modern reader.
Reviews:
I bought the book to help my son with Calculus in high school. Since it was made for homeschoolers I figured that it would be an excellent reference text for him. So far it has really helped him with his study of the subject. I am very pleased.mayboy1967
This book is real dated, of course. It was originally written in the 40s and hasn't changed much since then. There is no possible chance it speaks of modern things such as using a TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator to do calculus (or even a calculator of any sort because they were using slide rules back then). I really thought it was going to be more helpful. After all, it says, "Made Easy". It's nearly as boring as any other calculus book with just as few real-world examples. It comes up with a couple definitions which help to understand what calculus really is. But, "Made Easy"? Nope. For a beginner? Wouldn't recommend it.thewind777
2. Calculus [Book]
Product Details:
Spivak's celebrated textbook is widely held as one of the finest introductions to mathematical analysis. his aim is to present calculus as the first real encounter with mathematics: it is the place to learn how logical reasoning combined with fundamental concepts can be developed into a rigorous mathematical theory rather than a bunch of tools and techniques learned by rote. since analysis is a subject students traditionally find difficult to grasp, spivak provides leisurely explanations, a profusion of examples, a wide range of exercises and plenty of illustrations in an easy-going approach that enlightens difficult concepts and rewards effort. calculus will continue to be regarded as a modern classic, ideal for honours students and mathematics majors, who seek an alternative to doorstop textbooks on calculus, and the more formidable introductions to real analysis.

Reviews:
This is an excellent book for those wishing to understand calculus from a deeper perspective. It requires either a high math IQ or a lot of diligence on the part of the average math student (your humble reviewer is definitely in the latter category) in order to make steady progress.givaholler
The writing style and method of teaching complex topics of advanced calculus makes it easy for someone who has little to no experience messing with that sort of high level maths. The book also covers several minute nuances regarding calculus that are not taught in other books, while also providing relevant and challenging questions. (Although I'm not set on giving it a 5 star since I've only read 1 other book on pre calculus)Nerd who likes math
Spivak's Calculus is quite possibly the most rigorous calculus book ever printed. It presents Calculus in its true form. There is no hand waving and everything that appears in the book is motivated by what came in the preceding chapters. This book is good for anyone interested in learning calculus for what it really is. Spivak leaves no stone unturned.piguy420
3. The Complete Idiot's Guide To Calculus [Book]

Product Details:
Let's face it- most students don't take calculus because they find it intellectually stimulating. it's not . . . at least for those who come up on the wrong side of the bell curve! there they are, minding their own business, working toward some non-science related degree, when . . . blam! they get next semester's course schedule in the mail, and first on the list is the mother of all loathed college courses . . . calculus! not to fear-the complete idiot's guide to calculus, second edition, like its predecessor, is a curriculum-based companion book created with this audience in mind. this new edition continues the tradition of taking the sting out of calculus by adding more explanatory graphs and illustrations and doubling the number of practice problems! by the time readers are finished, they will have a solid understanding (maybe even a newfound appreciation) for this useful form of math. and with any luck, they may even be able to make sense of their textbooks and teachers.

This book has functioned amazingly well as a supplement to a course. It helps drill home the computational aspects of calculus, and provides great practice. The answers at the back don't only give you the right answer, but also the correct steps to take in order to reach that point. Any self-studying students can also pick up this book, or any non-students that may be interested in picking up some calculus know-how. 18. Make: Calculus: Build Models To Learn, Visualize, And Explore [Book]

Product Details:
When isaac newton developed calculus in the 1600s, he was trying to tie together math and physics in an intuitive, geometrical way. but over time math and physics teaching became heavily weighted toward algebra, and less toward geometrical problem solving. however, many practicing mathematicians and physicists will get their intuition geometrically first and do the algebra later. make:calculus imagines how newton might have used 3d printed models, construction toys, programming, craft materials, and an arduino or two to teach calculus concepts in an intuitive way. the book uses as little reliance on algebra as possible while still retaining enough to allow comparison with a traditional curriculum. this book is not a traditional calculus i textbook. rather, it will take the reader on a tour of key concepts in calculus that lend themselves to hands-on projects. this book also defines terms and common symbols for them so that self-learners can learn more on their own.

I think that this book along with the calculus for dummies book are a great review for someone in a calculus course. I would recommend it for someone that has a strong background in pre-calculus and is willing to work with problems.jmetzler15
I failed algebra in high school. Then failed it again in college. I decided I wanted to learn calculus without knowing all the prerequisites, so I bought a bunch of different books on calculus. After looking though a bunch of books I finally came to this book. I finally understand math! Mark lays everything out in such an easy to understand manner, with great examples. I actually enjoy learning with this book. Highly recommended!aathomas77
I THINK ALL THE "FOR DUMMIES" BOOKS ARE PRETTY WELL DONE. THEY USE HUMOR TO HOLD YOUR ATTENTION. THIS BOOK IS ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR BEGINNERS I THINK. I'VE BEEN DOING THIS AWHILEjustinsgr8
