I am on day 6 and so far I have really enjoyed this Bible Study. I expected this to be a more of a cliff notes version of the Bible which it is NOT. You read 4-5 chapters of your own Bible and then come to this recap for her breakdown of what you just read. This is based on a chronological read through the bible in a year plan. She states that you should not buy one of those Bibles but use your own and follow the chapters she states in the daily reading. It is super simple to follow. She has a great podcast to go along with this study that is FREE. It is basically her going over what you read in her recap. The plan is also setup in the Bible app. You can download the plan and read the chapters each day and then do the recap in the book. This is an excellent way to keep track of your progress. She almost lost me on day 1. She states "While Scripture is 100 percent true, it isn't always 100 percent literal" I HATE this statement. If you say this then you can decide any part of the Bible, like the virgin birth, is not literal. That statement undermines the whole Bible. I chose to read on past that and she has not stated anything else that I disagree with. I will continue with the study and learn from what she has to say. I do have my own mind as well and can challenge what she says as well, as with the statement above, I think both are beneficial. They both make you think about what you are reading and your beliefs. If you cannot get past this then this study is not for you. Overall I am thoroughly enjoying this study and recommend it as a companion to your daily reading!Huds7

This hardback book is a new revised modern version of the already favorite Beginner's Bible. It is not actually a Bible but instead more of a story book Bible with bright illustrations that portray the stories it includes. The illustrations themselves although bright and colorful, seem a little artificial. I guess what I am not quite so fond of is that they all have these big bulging eyes. Otherwise, they are not bad. At the beginning of the chapter, beneath the title, there is a Scripture reference to advise where the story is found in the Bible itself. It includes a variety of stories from the Old and New Testaments such as: Creation, Moses, Joshua, David, several of the Prophets, the Birth of Jesus, His Miracles, and other timeless classic Bible tales. This Beginner Bible would likely be great for young children who may not understand the Bible itself yet,or those beginner readers who enjoy the Bible stories but struggle to read the extra words in the actual Bible. It does however, only covers select parts of the Bible, and the stories are simplified for younger children. At times the stories only cover about three pages, with an illustration on every page also. I received a free copy of this book from Fly By Promotions to review. We were really excited to add this Children's Bible to our bedtime story collection. On the plus side there were a wide variety of stories and over 500 pages. The illustrations keep my soon to be 6 yr old twins engaged. However the stories seemed to be a bit watered down and I would find myself having to explain or make connections that were not in the actual stories. I love how this Children's Bible brings God's plan to save his people to live. It retells the Bible stories and shows the connection to the coming rescuer Jesus. The stories show how we as humans try to keep our promises, but fail. God loves us anyway and continues to pursue us and provide for us and God always keeps his promises. He provided a way to sacrifice for sin in the old testament and the old testament was pointing to the coming of a redeemer, a forever rescuer. Jesus Christ is that rescuer. My kids have loved this Bible since they were toddlers and as an adult, I enjoy reading it. It helps to remind me that God's plan is greater than any plan I have. God has been in control all along. This bible is fantastic! I have been using it for about 2 years. I actually have the navy blue leather version. This bible has devotionals all throughout it that connect to the word, they are so helpful and help me think of things I would’ve never thought of otherwise! The room in the margins is my favorite part, when I study the bible I love to doodle pictures and write notes in the margins so it’s very helpful to have room for that. Overall, this bible is simply beautiful as well. Each book has beautiful illustrations that go along with it, and sections that describe what each book is about and who wrote it (very interesting touch!). The reading plans are great as well. 5/5 stars! My favorite bible I own! I hadn’t tried the CSB version of the bible before this one, but I’ve come to really love it, makes everything so easy to understand. This is so nice!! Better then described! As described in the listing, there are a few highlights and some minor writing in the margins, but they are minor and do not effect the text in this bible. They are only in a few passages and I think they add some character. Most of the pages are still like new and stuck together. It even smells brand new! I'm so happy with this purchase! This is the second one I purchased. The first one was for me. This one was to be sent to my friend for her birthday. When it arrived, I opened the package to be sure that it was the book that I had a copy of. It was, however, when I opened the book, it was very difficult to read. The pages seemed like they were a cheap xerox copy of the original. The pages are bleached white, whereas my original book has pages that have a soothing slightly yellow tint to them. The new book's print is so faded and faint that I had to get my reading glasses to be able to see the words comfortably. I sent the book to her, anyway. I hope she is not as picky as I am with the ease of readability that a book should have. I did not tell her that my copy has much darker print that is much easier on the eyes. Overall, I am not impressed with the quality of this print.jhhome

Many people may think this is a real Bible. It is NOT a real bible. It is Bible stories and If I give it to anyone I put a note stuck on the front to tell the reader it is Bible Stories. Stories from the Bible. It is done in a comic-like format which would appeal to a youth that would not actually read the Bible.Clyde

This Bible may be for the children but I tell you I really enjoyed it so very much that I will grab it off my desk again and read it. I have a lot of books I go back to that keeps my mind fresh and remember some things. I really enjoyed the pictures he drew just as much as the Bible it's self. I also enjoyed the story behind Mr. Cariello. You will too. I love the cover but I really wanted to read it because I get lost a lot of times in my other Bibles. This Bible brought a fresh look at God and our world and what happened in it all the way through to Revelations. I love love this Bible yes ok I know it's for kids but hey I am a big kid and at my age I can get by with being a big kid. I just love the way it's written and I feel it will get them little ones interested in our Lord. Hats off to Sergio Cariello. When I received this Bible in the mail I was like a kid that got a brand new bike. You will to be too I am sure of it. I think your kids will be so interested you may not have to tell them to be quite they may ask for this Bible time and time again to look at. The Bible is hard to read and understand I know I think that is why my interest faded not my interest in God just trying to figure out what the Bible was trying to tell me with words I could hardly read so how could I understand it? This Bible made me look at God and the people in it a whole new way. It kept my interest and the pictures were unique. I also think learning the Bible is very important and this Bible is a good starter for the young ones or even great for us older folks. The pictures are so unique that they will bring the people to life for the little ones as you read it to them. Its a different way to read excerpts from the bible for sure, but I am only a quarter of the way through and am very much so enjoying it. It definitely does not replace the bible, as it was never intended too, but it was intended to give you an overall sense of how God has worked through time and for his people. I have enjoyed it so much, i reordered some in bulk to give out as a ministry tool and to family/friends. I hope the 4 dollar price never changes, so as to get this book in everyones hands that will read it.kyle l.
So far I've really enjoyed The Story (NIV). I don't know of another resource like this that can introduce the overarching narrative of the scriptures in a more accessible format for those who are new to the scriptures or anyone who has struggled at reading through the whole Bible. My only misgiving is that the very casual, almost flippant writing style of the italic transition paragraphs makes me cringe at times. This is introducing people to the word of God, so I think a more serious tone for these summary paragraphs would be more fitting, especially when the subject matter involves serious matters, such as man's rebellion against God. It doesn't add any value to talk about such subjects in a light or humorous tone.Jason B.
