Reviews:
Allen is brilliant because this method does really work and he is right in saying it's not hard to do. I got the longer version, no illustrations and with the CD. Repetition and coming to the realization that alcohol does nothing for you except damage are a couple key points. I wish I had read this a long time ago. Read it and take it seriously and follow his instructions to the letter and it will work for you too..thndrbass
I've read this book in different language about 10years ago. It did work. I also recommend the smoking and the worrying books. They all worked for me. Highly recommended lecturesmarinc27

Reviews:
Very interesting. It has answered a lot of questions. So much more to learn. Thank you.vanessstonehous-0
I bought the book on the recommendation of a mental health professional. She said I would see a lot of my behavior in it. After the first pages I was dumbfounded. I am still feeling the positive repercussion from all the information I read. Although I do not neatly fit in the catagory of an ACOA, I am sorry that I did not read this book 20 years ago, and I am grateful to have read this book now. I feel like changes will come and they will transform me into the man I have always wanted to be. My parents are little american success stories, both coming from extremely poor backgrounds, they overcame many personal obstacles, but were not equipped to dispense the needed parental guidance. I am a grown man with his own things to deal with. This book has helped me to see the realization that change is not insumountable.ringo29507
I read this book years ago. I found this book to be awakening. The book became a real life and game changer for me. I highly recommend reading this book if you or family members are struggling to understand living in a home with alcoholism or co-dependency.Victoria

Product Details:
Addiction is relentless, convincing and a master of deceit. it would have to be to pull someone as confident as i was into its grip and hang on that tightly for so long. from my late teens and beyond, i lived what i believed was a well-ordered life at the mercy of alcoholism and eating disorders. juggling addiction with life unraveled when i had triplets and was faced with the task of raising a child with special needs. i began a journey which led me to the realization that adam, who had cerebral palsy, was not the only one in our family who needed help learning to walk. for adam, learning to walk was the key to his independence. for me, reclaiming my life by learning to walk in recovery and faith saved my life. adam led me to my life's calling. my addictions led me to god who placed the reins of adam's camp in my hands and gave me the willingness and gifts to found this organization for children with special needs and their families. this book delves into the very deliberate process of healing. yet it should be no surprise to any person of faith that god works through the most broken. as a christian, i glean examples of this throughout the bible, from moses to david to the motley crew of disciples. my brokenness did not prevent god from working through me to offer hope and healing to others in the midst of gracing my life with hope and healing of a very different kind. if you find yourself in the pages of this book, my hope is that you will discover it is never to late to learn to walk.

I confess to being biased as I am an Arsenal fan, but actually the book is about so much more than football, giving candid, detailed insight into the daily struggle against alcoholism and the doubts and issues that arise when booze isn't masking them. Keep going, Tony, you're a bigger star today than you were in an Arsenal shirt, and that's saying something.phadderspaul

The good news is that this is a thin edition of the "Big Book" so easier to carry around on a trip, etc. The bad news is only a certain amount of material – the original stories so not necessarily good for a Big Book Meeting. Be sure you check out the ISBN 9562912655 which will be this edition by BN publishing done in 2006 and taken from the original 1939 AA Services. Your larger softcover will have a different number and the hardcover is 978-1-893007-16-1calcurt
I like the ability to carry a soft covered copy of "The Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous because it is convenient and light. I love to study the book and, in this one, carry a marker to underline significant lines to accent what is meaningful on a specific day. This particular book was one that had no previous underlines in it, making it usable for my own highlights. Even being a copy of the third addition it has the same first 164 pages of all three other printings, which are very helpful in learning and practicing recovery principles.drytyme
I now have 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Editions. The book is in great shape. It is just what I was hoping for. Glad to have it in my collection.buyandsell3045
