Reviews:
My husband and I read this to each other on a road trip across the country. We read it cover to cover and by the time we got home we knew every Mr Olympia, exactly what exercises to do and how many grams of protein to eat. A lot of the information we already knew but he presented the science in a way that improved our understanding. Suitable for the complete novice right through to those looking to complete. In fact any body who gives a hoot about their health and fitness would gain something from this book. If you want the latest fad in diet and exercise then this is not for you, if you want good old fashioned advice that works then but this book. Then read it out loud, doing your best Arnie impersonation.MrsBevo
It doesn't matter if you actually want to compete as a bodybuilder (I don't or is that 'can't'…) if you're interested in changing your body shape by lifting weights correctly this is the only book you'll need. Hours of Instagram scrolling will be cut out by the detailed, factual and interesting content in this book. If you want to work towards achieving a better body, who better to model yourself on than Arnold Schwarzenegger? It's not just one style of training either, Arnold offers several ways to train. Use this in addition to watching some interviews of his and you'll soon be hooked and developing your own workouts to challenge yourselves – or just follow his! Well worth it – I'll never need another workout book again. If this book wears out, I'll replace it with another copy. Excellent.shafei1

The book is tailored towards novice to intermediate trainees looking to improve strength, covering the basics of warm-up, training and nutrition with detailed explanations, anecdotes and diagrams where appropriate. It includes a 12-week training program that can be done at any decent gym. Eric Cressey (author) is one of the leading strength and conditioning coaches in the world and practices what he preaches. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in improving strength for sport or general purposes that has at least a small amount of weight training experience under their belt.
I really like this book. It had great information. However, it is almost impossible to do some of these workouts with a home gym. I would have loved it if I had all the equipment needed to do his program at home but I don't. If you are looking for an intense workout that you can do at the gym this would be the book to have. IF you have a home gym then it might be difficult to complete all of his program.rainrun7

13. Muscle For Life: Get Lean, Strong, And Healthy At Any Age! [Book]

Product Details:
A new fitness book for men and women over forty from bestselling author and trainer michael matthews.is this a workout book that can make you look and feel like you’re twenty again in thirty days flat? no. is it a fitness book full of diet and exercise “hacks” and “shortcuts” for gaining lean muscle and melting belly fat faster than a sneeze in a cyclone? absolutely not. but is it an exercise book (and nutrition book) that’ll guide you on how to eat and exercise to lose pounds of fat and gain eye-catching amounts of muscle definition and strength? yes. and faster than you probably think possible, no matter your age or abilities. because here’s the deal: muscle building and fat loss after forty aren’t nearly as complicated as you’ve been led to believe. -you don’t need to: obsess over “clean eating” and avoiding “bad” or “unhealthy” foods like sugar, meat, and bread. some foods are just more nutritious than and should be eaten more frequently than others. that’s it. -you don’t need to: spend a couple of hours in the gym every day grinding through punishing strength training workouts. sweating buckets, getting really sore, training until bone-tired…all wholly overrated for gaining lean muscle and strength. -you don’t need to: slog away on the treadmill. in fact, you don’t need to do any cardio exercise at all to shed ugly belly, hip, and thigh fat and even build your best body ever. those are just a few of myths that keep people over forty from ever achieving the lean, toned, and strong body they truly desire. and muscle for life will teach you something that most of those men and women will never know: how to transform your body while eating all the foods you like and doing just a few challenging (but not grueling) strength training workouts per week. oh, and cardio exercise? completely optional. here are just a few of the things you’ll discover inside this fitness book for men and women over forty: -the biggest fitness myths and mistakes that keep people weak, overweight, and confused. for example, “calories are all that matters,” “carbs and sugars make you fat and unhealthy,” and “strength training makes women bulky.” -the primary driver of muscle growth that forces your muscles to get fitter and stronger. and no, it has nothing to do with “muscle confusion,” “functional training,” or any other pseudoscientific fitness nonsense. -how to create meal plans for losing fat and building muscle with all the foods you love so you never feel starved, deprived, or like you’re “on a diet” (and especially a “bodybuilding diet”). -twelve months of paint-by-numbers resistance training workouts for adding lean muscle definition to all of the right places on your body…in only 3-to-5 hours of strength training per week. and that’s not all, either… -360 peer-reviewed scientific studies support the muscle for life system of eating, exercising, and recovering for losing fat and gaining muscle and strength. so, here’s the bottom line: you can get a fit, lean, and strong body no matter your age or circumstances, and you can do it without following a bland diet and without living in the gym doing exhausting workouts you hate. and this book helps show you how. get your copy now, and start your journey to a fitter, leaner, and stronger you…for life!
Reviews:
First off, to judge a book by its cover. Premium look and feel; truth not empty promises on the cover. Muscle for Life “may be the last fitness book you ever need to read” says the author. I say, trying to prove him wrong is going to be difficult when you look back 12 weeks or so and see the results you achieved with this book and program. Muscle for Life is a quick and easy read. Even if you start with zero knowledge of fitness, training, strength, diet, etc. you will finish knowing more than most people on the planet. This book takes what most people perceive as complicated (and hey, its no wonder, just look around at all the ads for diets, supplements, exercise options) and makes it so simple and enjoyable. Pictures, diagrams, and meal plans are included. Bonus materials as well. Order this book today. When it arrives stop reading any other fitness book, blog, social media influencer, and focus on this one. Follow the program and you will succeed.Anonymous

16. Joe Weider's Ultimate Bodybuilding [Book]

Product Details:
"this massive and authoritative master blaster book is the greatest bodybuilding book ever written, primarily because it is firmly based on the training principles of the weider system of bodybuilding, which have been followed by literally every bodybuilder in the modern history of the sport. i began developing my weider system back in the 1930s and continue to refine and add new weider training principles to it. you can rely on the information i present in this book to improve your physique. good luck!" — joe weider on instinctive training "one of the most fundamental secrets of successful bodybuilding is getting to know your body and how it reacts to various training and nutritional practices. unless you have finely honed your instinctive training ability, it will take many weeks, even months, to evaluate each experiment. it definitely pays to master the weider instinctive training principle." — franco columbo, two-time mr. olympia on progression "the key to building massive, powerful muscles is to doggedly increase the training weights you use. but it is only good to increase training poundage if you do so in perfect form. there is a direct correlation between the amount of weight you use with perfect biomechanics in an exercise and the mass of muscles that move that weight." — lee haney, three-time mr. olympia on muscle confusion "once i reached the advanced level of bodybuilding and started entering competitions, i discovered that i quickly became bored with a set training program. i began to use the weider muscle confusion principle, changing to a new and more challenging routine every time i came into the gym to bomb a particular body part." — lou ferrigno on supersets "since supersets constitute a big jump in training intensity, i always tell bodybuilders new to the weider supersets training principles to experiment with supersets, compounding movements for the biceps and triceps, or forearm flexors and forearm extensors." — albert beckles, ifbb world pro grand prix champion

I bought this book for my 15 year old son. It has fantastic, thorough information on the how-to's for pretty much everything. But we are both put off by the images of over-sized men. He would be more inspired by images of average sized body builders who look 'normal', not like the Hulk lol.akella-la
Pretty much every thing you ever wanted to know about bodybuilding and weightlifting.Very informative well laid out. A must for beginner to expert bodybuilder/weightlifterjr1138773

De Lavier's two books make up the holy bible of weight training and home exercising. The detail is masterly and the illustrations are incomparable. They are the only books you will need.CHARLES V.
You can probably find it online for free, but it is so much better to have it on paper. Illustrations are beautiful and on point. One of the books you always come back to, so its high quality paper really matters.rollingonthe
This is the best book of its kind. It is the only one you will ever need to answer those elusive questions we all have about muscle structure and their relationship to our connective tissue. This books a visual delight. Everything you would ever want to know or have ever read about the anatomy of our muscle structure is illustradted perfectly in here for you review. I can not praise this book enough. If you are an athlete with questions or a parient wanting to educate your child, then this is the best way to go. Some people learn and understand topics from reading about them while other learn and understand more with a visual add in the mix. This has both. But by far this has the best visual representation of the topic I have ever found. The cost of this is nothing compared to the benifits you will receive buying this book.wesselp1
