1. The Will To Change: Men, Masculinity, And Love [Book]
Product Details:
Everyone needs to love and be loved—even men. but to know love, men must be able to look at the ways that patriarchal culture keeps them from knowing themselves, from being in touch with their feelings, from loving.in the will to change, bell hooks gets to the heart of the matter and shows men how to express the emotions that are a fundamental part of who they are—whatever their age, marital status, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. but toxic masculinity punishes those fundamental emotions, and it’s so deeply ingrained in our society that it’s hard for men to not comply—but hooks wants to help change that. with trademark candor and fierce intelligence, hooks addresses the most common concerns of men, such as fear of intimacy and loss of their patriarchal place in society, in new and challenging ways. she believes men can find the way to spiritual unity by getting back in touch with the emotionally open part of themselves—and lay claim to the rich and rewarding inner lives that have historically been the exclusive province of women. a brave and astonishing work, the will to change is designed to help men reclaim the best part of themselves.

I purchased Wayne Dyer's inspiring book as a gift for a friend. I have had my own copy for 9 years. I read a verse everyday and journal my thoughts on the day's verse in my Laurel Birch journal. I have filled 9 journals and the process has guided me and comforted me through my life's difficulties. I have purchased copies for friends and family members and of course gave each of them a Laurel Birch journal so they too may find solace in journaling their experiences. The book has absolutely changed my life!martymerrow

Reviews:
Over the years I have read numerous self-help books, but none offered the clarity and how to understand and apply solutions to what the author presents as the Six Sources of Influence. I unintentionally applied some of the discussed techniques with great success without even realizing what I was doing, or why it worked for me. The authors present numerous everyday challenges that folks face and how to use the techniques to give the reader the best chance to make a meaningful and life-long change. I definitely recommend this book to any individual seeking clear steps – and not just the typical motivational stuff – to make a REAL change in their life.jq82_4
I wouldn't say this is anything new, I would say more of a new perspective and a new way to think about the same foundations if you want to change something in your life. I will say it did reinforce and give me a more realistic view of how to change things. Boring at times.stacey.l

6. Change: How To Make Big Things Happen [Book]
Product Details:
How to create the change you want to see in the world using the paradigm-busting ideas in this "utterly fascinating" (adam grant) big-idea book. the problem is that the world they describe is a world where information spreads, but beliefs and behaviors stay the same. the real story of social change is more complex.
Reviews:
This book has confirmed my view that celebrities won't sell an idea or a product. It puts rigour around how we as humans influence, change and adapt. Humans and our systems of behaviour are complex and nuanced which this books unravels. The book could benefit from chapter summaries of key points. Some of the theory seems contradictory and a distillation of the most important points would make the book more approachable to a casual reader.Matt
"Change" is complementary to principles of human behavior described in other books, including Yuval Harari's "Sapiens" and Jonathan Haidt's "The Righteous Mind." Damen Centola does an excellent job of making the mechanisms behind social change approachable and useful. We have launched new marketing initiatives for my company based on the concepts he describes.Eugene

Reviews:
This is a great book for stepping through the steps of change. It helps you to identify where you are at, and reasons that you may have failed in the past. It does seem to come at it from the angle of something like giving up smoking or drinking where you can "give up", rather than something like healthy eating or weight loss where there is a finer line between changing and staying the same. I managed to go 30 days without sugar and make some other changes in my life based on the principles in this book, and I will keep it as a reference for the future.
Was asked to read this book by the local hospital obesity clinic. I found it just a bit too textbook-like but extremely helpful in helping to make permanent changes. It takes into account human failings and is very encouraging. The best bits for me were the case histories that helped me to get the point.susanbrian57
Unlike most self-help books out there this one is actually based on research for a change. Based on this Phd's work on how people change this guy has uncovered the different predictable stages of change that people go through when they attempt to get themselves to change. Although the stages are fairly predictable not everybody goes through them in the exact same order as some people skip various stages on their way to changing their behaviour. A great book all-in-all it's definitely worth a look. Also liked The Sixty-Second Motivator". "a reviewer

18. Understanding Change [Book]
Product Details:
Change is now so commonplace that people no longer talk in terms of the "whitewater epoch". every sector of the economies of the developed world has experienced huge swathes of change in the last decade of the twentieth century alone. increased global competition, aided and abetted by technological advances, has led many organizations to seek to re-invent themselves in the hope of being able to survive and thrive. in mature sectors in particular, where the pace of consolidation is accelerating, organizations have had little option but to grow through acquisition or be absorbed. whether the change is labelled "continuous process improvement", "restructuring", "downsizing" or re-engineering", to employees, change usually brings with it added pressures, job insecurity and a consequent loss of commitment to the organization. understanding change: theory, implementation and success argues that strategic change in the new millennium will be geared increasingly to achieving sustainable high performance, rather than just short-term gains. most theorists now agree that the real challenge of change lies in gaining employees" willingness to commit to the change effort. change leaders at every level need to be able to understand the elements at work in any change process, and to use judgement about the style of leadership required to give the change effort the best chance of success. understanding change: theory, implementation and success provides an overview of change and organizational theory, leading in particular to the author"s definition of the "input" elements of the high performance organisation, based on extensive research into uk and international organisations. it also contains a section looking at the management of change, with case studies illustrating approaches to managing change which are conducive to achieving sustainable high performance. in her companion book, the high performance organization- creating dynamic stability, the author explores some of the "how to"s" of building an organizational culture which is supportive of high performance in today"s challenging environment.

20. Leading Change: How Successful Leaders Approach Change Management [Book]
Product Details:
It is often claimed that 70% of organizational change efforts fail, despite the popularity of linear change models, such as kotter's 8-step model. the reason few change efforts succeed as intended is because they are based on two implicit assumptions: that the leader or leadership team will come up with a vision and then succeed in persuading the rest of the organization to follow, and that people will happily embrace change without being afforded the opportunity to make their own meaning of that change. leading change offers an alternative. it provides a framework for change that opens opportunities for people within the organization to play a significant role in the process. supported by academic research, and grounded with a range of examples and cases, the book offers a valuable approach to successful change management.
