1. Critical Race Theory: The Key Writings That Formed The Movement [Book]

Product Details:
What is critical race theory and why is it under fire from the political right? this foundational essay collection, which defines key terms and includes case studies, is the essential work to understand the intellectual movement why did the president of the united states, in the midst of a pandemic and an economic crisis, take it upon himself to attack critical race theory? perhaps donald trump appreciated the power of this groundbreaking intellectual movement to change the world. in recent years, critical race theory has vaulted out of the academy and into courtrooms, newsrooms, and onto the streets. and no wonder: as intersectionality theorist kimberlé crenshaw recently told time magazine, it's an approach to grappling with a history of white supremacy that rejects the belief that what's in the past is in the past, and that the laws and systems that grow from that past are detached from it. the panicked denunciations from the right notwithstanding, crt has changed the way millions of people interpret our troubled world. edited by its principal founders and leading theoreticians, critical race theory was the first book to gather the movement's most important essays. this groundbreaking book includes contributions from scholars including derrick bell, kimberlé crenshaw, patricia williams, dorothy roberts, lani guinier, duncan kennedy, and many others. it is essential reading in an age of acute racial injustice.

Reviews:
THIS BOOK IS A LIE! It MUST NOT BE IN SCHOOLS! This book teaches lies & indoctrinates children to believe in LIES!my-best2u
This is a textbook. It consolidates articles from all over the country related to CRT. The leading figure discussed in the book is Derrick Bell. He is the founding Father of this theory. Just in case you don't know, they are proponents of CRT. The authors develop a compelling case as to why this theory is correct. They give evidence to support their casework. You get research from legal work to support their belief that racism is rooted in many of our systems in the US. They even trace the theory from slavery to now proving their case. Read it for yourself. Also read both sides of the argument. I don't agree with the theory that everything is the same as the early 1800s. Too many Africans Americans are in highly decorated positions in this country. There has to be some redemptive endings when discussing this topic. You can't paint everything as doom and gloom. We are fighters and we have made some progress toward freeing blacks from systems that hold us down.tarverhughes
2. On Critical Race Theory: Why It Matters & Why You Should Care [Book]

Product Details:
What exactly is critical race theory? this concise and accessible exploration demystifies a crucial framework for understanding and fighting racial injustice in the united states.“ a clear-eyed, expert field guide.”—dr. tressie mcmillan cottom, author of thick from renowned scholar dr. victor ray, on critical race theory explains the centrality of race in american history and politics, and how the often mischaracterized intellectual movement became a political necessity.ray draws upon the radical thinking of giants such as ida b. wells, w.e.b. du bois, and dr. martin luther king, jr., to clearly trace the foundations of critical race theory in the black intellectual traditions of emancipation and the civil rights movement. from these foundations, ray explores the many facets of our society that critical race theory interrogates, from deeply embedded structural racism to the historical connection between whiteness and property, ownership, and more. in succinct, thoughtful essays, ray presents, analyzes, and breaks down the scholarship and concepts that constitute this often misconstrued term.
3. Critical Race Theory And Social Studies Futures: From The Nightmare Of Racial Realism To Dreaming Out Loud [Book]

Product Details:
This volume assembles a team of critical social studies scholars of color and co-conspirators who share both their nightmares and dreams for the future. the authors engage critical race theory (crt) and its many branches and offshoots to better understand the permanence of racism in the teaching of social studies. the book's first section, a dream deferred, outlines the endemic systemic issues and the ways in which the field and national organizations attempt to remain racially neutral in the face of the biases that permeate curriculum, disciplines, and the world. the second section, racial realities in classroom spaces, examines the various ways scholars and educators are applying crt in prek-12 spaces. in the third section, possibilities of praxis, chapter authors critically reflect on their own experiences and stories using crt to work with young people and future teachers. in the final section, dreaming of social studies futures, contributors outline their dreams for the future of social studies, envisioning an unapologetically indigenous field that centers black futures and liberation and is free from the violence that has plagued the field and communities for centuries. book features: offers race-focused analyses from a wide range of perspectives and contexts of study related to social studies education. highlights innovations, branches, and future directions of critical race theories and methods. explores how race and racism have been situated within the field of social studies since the publication of gloria ladson-billings's 2003 edited volume, critical race theory perspectives on the social studies.
4. Critical Race Theory: A Doctrine Of Devils That Is Captivating The Minds Of Americans [Book]

Product Details:
The agitation of the black lives matter movement has dominated the public discourse in the united states since the death of an african american man who died during his arrest in minneapolis. this was a tragic event. the death of mr. floyd was troubling indeed. however, i am also concerned over the legitimacy of the phrase "black lives matter," since all lives irrespective of race matter! mr. floyd's death was the spark that lit the fires of violent protests, police shootings and terrorism in many cities across the usa by groups like black lives matter, antifa and other groups and individuals. in fact, violence is being encouraged. one black lives matter leader said they would burn the system down if they don't get what they want. when philadelphia police shot and killed walter wallace who refused to drop his knife and came at them october 26, 2020 people marched through the streets shouting, "every city every town, burn the precincts to the ground." following was looting and violence where 30 policemen were injured. what is at the root of all of this? i believe the foundation of all of this is a philosophy called critical race theory.

This is a great resource for the effect of CRT. I like the reference of bible passages to make the point. I was looking for and actual tutorial of what CRT is and what the real teachings are. As I mentioned this gives the results. It is difficult to find what is being taught in schools at tax payers expense.griswoldgriswold
I wish I had known the author was just some bible thumping numpty before I bought this. Nothing of any educational value contained within this book. If you want to actually learn about CRT, you wont learn it from this book. Total garbage.shaf-garr

13. The Myth Of Race: The Troubling Persistence Of An Unscientific Idea [Book]

Product Details:
Biological races do not exist—and never have. this view is shared by all scientists who study variation in human populations. yet racial prejudice and intolerance based on the myth of race remain deeply ingrained in western society. in his powerful examination of a persistent, false, and poisonous idea, robert sussman explores how race emerged as a social construct from early biblical justifications to the pseudoscientific studies of today.the myth of race traces the origins of modern racist ideology to the spanish inquisition, revealing how sixteenth-century theories of racial degeneration became a crucial justification for western imperialism and slavery. in the nineteenth century, these theories fused with darwinism to produce the highly influential and pernicious eugenics movement. believing that traits from cranial shape to raw intelligence were immutable, eugenicists developed hierarchies that classified certain races, especially fair-skinned “aryans,” as superior to others. these ideologues proposed programs of intelligence testing, selective breeding, and human sterilization—policies that fed straight into nazi genocide. sussman examines how opponents of eugenics, guided by the german-american anthropologist franz boas’s new, scientifically supported concept of culture, exposed fallacies in racist thinking.although eugenics is now widely discredited, some groups and individuals today claim a new scientific basis for old racist assumptions. pondering the continuing influence of racist research and thought, despite all evidence to the contrary, sussman explains why—when it comes to race—too many people still mistake bigotry for science.

14. Critical Race Theory And Woke Culture: America's Dangerous Repeat Of China's Cultural Revolution [Book]

Product Details:
As the radical left introduces socialism and uses critical race theory, censorship, cancel culture, and racial division to tear down america, there is reason for grave concern over the future of the country. unfortunately, it appears that history is repeating itself and america is in danger of a cultural revolution from which it will not be able to recover. based on his firsthand experience of the horrors of communism, mike zhao crafted critical race theory & woke culture / america's dangerous repeat of china's cultural revolution to reveal how the radical left is using the maoist playbook to destroy america. he provides a striking overview of the similar tactics used, which include employing divisive marxist ideologies, changing cultural values, rewriting history, indoctrinating citizens, and silencing the opposition. zhao warns of the dire consequences of many of the "virtuous" liberal agendas, such as censoring "misinformation," canceling dissidents, mandating racial equity, and dividing americans into the oppressors and the oppressed. zhao survived communist china's cultural revolution and thrived in capitalist america. during china's cultural revolution, zhao's family endured political persecution, extreme poverty, and devastating personal loss. zhao's unique life experience enables him to draw parallels between what the radical left is doing in america and china's cultural revolution fifty years ago. zhao is an accomplished conservative author and nationally recognized asian american community leader. by fiercely defending america's founding principles such as the protection of individual rights, the rule of law, freedom of speech, election integrity, the free market system, equal opportunity, and meritocracy, zhao aims to inspire americans to fight against critical race theory and "woke" culture.
