Reviews:
You was interesting and highly engrossing from the very beginning. I enjoyed that the story is from 2nd narration. The story is a little bit creepy, but not too creepy. It does feature lots of stalking, violence, and murder, just so people are aware before starting the book.Peppermint1991
This was definitely very different than what I have ever read before. Creepy. Odd. Messes up with your mind but addicting. This book is not for everyone. *Note: I read this way before the TV series came out. Still haven't watched it yet.I am so conflicted in whether I like or hate Joe Goldberg. He is a creepy, smart, psychotic stalker. I should dislike him for that but sometimes I don't. He is a hopeless romantic that needs help. But I don't think any help will actually help him. He knows what he is doing therefore none of his actions are acceptable. Joe meets Guinevere Beck at the bookstore he works at and is instantly obsessed. He will do anything for her, and he does. Every other character in this book isn't any better than him in a way. Yes they don't stalk and hurt people but their actions and personality aren't the greatest either. This book is a crazy read. It will make you so conflicted because you will hate yourself for liking this guy.tiffany.l
Received a copy of this novel as an advanced reader edition in my store a month or two before the release date. While I lay hands on nearly every new release of the year, this one immediately caught my attention and I took it home to read. I found the use of the 2nd person pov a refreshing perspective and was instantly caught up in a love affair with the narrator – his keen wit, unconventional viewpoints and social awkwardness were very endearing. A little into the novel, I started thinking "This guy might be a little creepy." A little further, I started thinking, "Yeah…this guy is kinda creepy.". A little further, and I realize, "Yes. Yes, this guy is definitely a creeper," but yet I'm still somewhat enthralled. His actions and conclusions seem so normal and such a matter-of-course to him, it's very easy to sympathize and see him as the victim rather than the victimizer. I sometimes hesitate to recommend this book to customers as it's so incredibly creepy, but if you are a mature reader with a love for psychological thrillers, this book is an absolute must read!Lisa, GM

This fascinating story of the development of artificial intelligence was far more engrossing than I expected. Based on over 400 interviews the author conducted for NY Times and Wired, the book is a nerd's delight of anecdotes from polymaths and inspired techies. These extraordinary characters themselves seem made for fiction. "Genius Makers" may not exactly explain how AI works, but it explains the five phases in the rise of deep learning, and it will blow you away with AI's implications for the future. This is possibly the most significant technological breakthrough of our times. A big story with big characters, made accessible for us all.Rob at Booktopia
4. Can't Buy Me Love: The Beatles, Britain, And America [Book]
Product Details:
That the beatles were an unprecedented phenomenon is a given. in can’t buy me love, jonathan gould explains why, placing the fab four in the broad and tumultuous panorama of their time and place, rooting their story in the social context that girded both their rise and their demise. nearly twenty years in the making, can’t buy me love is a masterful work of group biography, cultural history, and musical criticism. beginning with their adolescence in liverpool, gould describes the seminal influences––from elvis presley and chuck berry to the goon show and alice’s adventures in wonderland––that shaped the beatles both as individuals and as a group. in addition to chronicling their growth as singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists, he highlights the advances in recording technology that made their sound both possible and unique, as well as the developments in television and radio that lent an explosive force to their popular success. with a musician’s ear, gould sensitively evokes the timeless appeal of the lennon-mccartney collaboration and their emergence as one of the most creative and significant songwriting teams in history. behind the scenes gould explores the pivotal roles played by manager brian epstein and producer george martin, credits the influence on the beatles’ music of contemporaries like bob dylan, brian wilson, and ravi shankar, and traces the gradual escalation of the fractious internal rivalries that led to the group’s breakup after their final masterpiece, abbey road. most significantly, by chronicling their revolutionary impact on popular culture during the 1960s, can’t buy me love illuminates the beatles as a charismatic phenomenon of international proportions, whose anarchic energy and unexpected import was derived from the historic shifts in fortune that transformed the relationship between britain and america in the decades after world war ii. from the beats in america and the angry young men in england to the shadow of the profumo affair and jfk’s assassination, gould captures the pulse of a time that made the beatles possible—and even necessary. as seen through the prism of the beatles and their music, an entire generation’s experience comes astonishingly to life. beautifully written, consistently insightful, and utterly original, can’ t buy me love is a landmark work about the beatles, britain, and america.

Reviews:
I LOVE THIS SERIES OMG! The character development you end up seeing in cardan is amazing! Jude is such a baddie and who doesn’t love a main character with sword skills? My favourite book is definitely the second one in the series which is the wicked king! There are major plot twists at the end of holly blacks books and I am living for it! I definitely recommend this book to get it now!!!
The Cruel Prince was one that I really wanted to fall in love with. And, I did, to an extent. Superficially, it was alluring and enchanting, and captivated me in the moment. Depth-wise, it just didn't stick with me like I had hoped. This isn't to say it was a bad book. The story was magical and intense. The writing was absolutely gorgeous, but, every time I put the book down to come back to it at a later time, I found it to be less than memorable. I struggled to remember what I had previously read during those gaps of not reading, and found myself backing up to refresh myself before being able to continue. The imagination of the world was spot on. It was vivid and colorful, and had a darkness to it. The characters within the world were a different story.I never felt fully invested in any of the characters. I was never sold on any of their personalities, and never felt like they grew. Then, of course, there was the bullying.Bullying is not necessarily a trigger for, though I was bullied in high school, but in this story, it was pretty intense. Definitely hard to read at times, and something I felt needed to be mentioned. Yes, it was part of the story and made for some shocking moments in the plot, and with the characters, but it was a pretty heavy theme.Overall, I still really enjoyed the book. Despite my negative tone in my review, Holly still made me feel while I was involved in the book. I felt like I was in a dream the entire time. It was vividly enchanting and full of beauty, intrigue, and some shocking and entertaining moments. I loved the ending, and was left wanting more. I will definitely be reading the next book! 3.5-4 stars.adrienne (darquedreamer).m
I adored this story. I loved the dark, cruel, magical and manipulative world of the faeries and the characters who reside there. I loved the depth, the imperfection and how the story wasn't riddled with cliche. It was refreshing to read about faerie teenagers who are actually…well, teenagers. Flawed. Angsty. The way Holly writes is magical too. Her prose is visually descriptive, layered and beautiful to read, yet it's simple. Digestible. It's probably why it's so easy to binge read her books.Liana
7. Sapiens: A Brief History Of Humankind [Book]
Product Details:
Official u.s. edition with full color illustrations throughout.new york times bestsellera summer reading pick for president barack obama, bill gates, and mark zuckerberg from a renowned historian comes a groundbreaking narrative of humanity’s creation and evolution—a #1 international bestseller—that explores the ways in which biology and history have defined us and enhanced our understanding of what it means to be “human.” one hundred thousand years ago, at least six different species of humans inhabited earth. yet today there is only one—homo sapiens. what happened to the others? and what may happen to us? most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but dr. yuval noah harari breaks the mold with this highly original book that begins about 70,000 years ago with the appearance of modern cognition. from examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.dr. harari also compels us to look ahead, because over the last few decades humans have begun to bend laws of natural selection that have governed life for the past four billion years. featuring 27 photographs, 6 maps, and 25 illustrations/diagrams, this provocative and insightful work is sure to spark debate and is essential reading for aficionados of jared diamond, james gleick, matt ridley, robert wright, and sharon moalem.
Reviews:
Sapiens is an insightful, history-laden explanation of how and why we humans organize ourselves the way we do. At the same time, it's a readable story of human history. Harari is an apt guide who doesn't preach, but lays out for us how we may have come by some of our inner workings. At a time when the future looks opaque, an unflinching look at our past can do wonders. I read all three Harari books this past summer, but found Sapiens to be the most compelling and important work of the three. A book that will change your mind, if you're open to it.jwregularguy
The book is a modern day classic which tries to reason why certain decisions were chosen over the other and how these decisions have shaped up the course of human history. While giving us potential explanations, Yuval also reminds us that these are mere speculations or theories and nobody can be sure what was going inside the minds of homo sapiens at that time. Some chapters are a bit of a stretch, though when someone tries to summarize the course of 70,000 years of human history into 416 pages, one can hardly complain. I have given an extra star for BookishSanta team who have provided the book in original (color edition) form with a nice touch of handwritten note.Utkarsh Y.
I really enjoyed this book. It is well written and had me gripped from page one. The author puts things into perspective – drawing analogies and parallels – that is shocking , surprising and even funny. I felt a number of emotions reading this, from ignorance, astonishing intellect, shock, horror, surprise, anger, sadness, hunger? I highly recommend for anyone looking for a easy, albeit enlightening read about the development of human, society and life as we know it.Gene

It's been a long since I read a book within two days just for the sake of enjoyment. And I can tell that some moments are described so uniquely that it makes you feel sorry that you physically can't experience reading it for the first time again. I really loved the book and the movie too, and to my mind there are moments which are better in book and others are better in movie. Can't wait to readthe sequel 🤞❤️katie.m
9. The Last Kids On Earth: Max Brallier – Book
Product Details:
The simpsons meets the walking dead in this hilarious post-apocalyptic graphic novel for middle-grade readers. ever since the monster apocalypse hit town, average thirteen year old jack sullivan has been living in his tree house, which he's armed to the teeth with catapults and a moat, not to mention video games and an endless supply of oreos and mountain dew scavenged from abandoned stores. but jack alone is no match for the hoards of zombies and winged wretches and vine thingies, and especially not for the eerily intelligent monster known only as blarg.
Reviews:
I bought this for my 8 year old son with the hope that it would grab his interest enough to help cut back on his desire to play video games constantly. This book really did the trick. He couldn’t put it down and finished it in a few days. It’s gross in a kid-appropriate way, very silly, and thoroughly entertaining. Definitely worth the purchase!SLCont
My daughter discovered and loved the TV series on Netflix (clearly advertised on the book covers). I recently found out it was initially a book series, which made sense, since I also watched it with my 11-yo, and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it myself! The books arrived beautifully presented, just with a cross of plastic to protect and hold the set together. They were all in perfect condition, and we started reading the books right away — my daughter being bicultural, her English is not yet where it could be at, what with her attending a French school rather than a British one… so we read together and I make her watch everything I can in English. This is American but luckily the British publisher used British spelling throughout, which is particularly important in our case! She is absolutely loving these books, and I am thrilled to see how much help it was to watch the series in English and then read the books. Esp. because the series closely followed the events of the books, which was another great piece of news! So anyway, I highly recommend this very affordable set, which is surprisingly well written, witty, laugh-out-loud funny, and highly enjoyable on the whole.A V. H. R.

This was my favorite book when i was younger. I lent it to a so called friend who i begged Prior to return it when she was finished but never did. It arrived quickly and im satisfied. I heard a movie is coming soon i hope so. Instagram has a preview but I’m not sure if it’s real. IG iAMphyriAMphyr
I started reading it last night but I threw it away because I couldn't stand the S words and other words that I don't use in my daily language. I will not subject myself to that because a mind is a sponge that will retrieve things that has been put in it at a moment you would least expect it. It probably is not offensive to other people that have the same background and life but for me I will keep myself looking to positive and the good things in life. Thanks. Alicegardeninginheaven

This is a great book for kids. My mom used to read it to a lot when I was a child. Very cute story.skottron2
I bought The Best Nest because my 2 year old granddaughter tore pages out of her copy and it is her favorite book. She cried when she tried to 'read' it. She kept saying 'broken'. So I set about finding another. This one looked clean and in good shape and it was very reasonably priced. Happy ending. So far all pages are intact in this Ebay copy. Maddies Atticmaddiesattic

Reviews:
I loved reading this chapter book. I plan to read it to my kids when they are 8+ as some of the themes are heavy for younger children. I don't want to give any spoilers, but I just loved the themes of courage, hope, persistence, joy and family. It is an incredible book that I look forward to reading again several times.Marie
14. Contact: A Novel [Book]
Product Details:
The pulitzer prize-winning author of cosmos and renowned astronomer carl sagan’s international bestseller about the discovery of an advanced civilization in the depths of space remains the “greatest adventure of all time” (associated press). the future is here…in an adventure of cosmic dimension. when a signal is discovered that seems to come from far beyond our solar system, a multinational team of scientists decides to find the source. what follows is an eye-opening journey out to the stars to the most awesome encounter in human history. who—or what—is out there? why are they watching us? one of the best science fiction novels about communication with extraterrestrial intelligent beings, contact is a “stunning and satisfying” (los angeles times) classic.
Reviews:
One of the best books I have read in a long time. The book follows the contact with an extraterrestrial species. However, not only the contact but in fine detail Sagan goes into the international Social, Political and Religious problems the proposed contact with extraterrestrial life would pose to individual nations. From eschatological doctrines to UFO fanatics, the book tackles many subjects in a means to understand and close the gap between science (Physics in particular) and other bodies of knowledge such as government and military entities.robertoduran7211
Although I'm not much of a fan of the (science) fiction genre, I love Carl Sagan's other nonfiction works such as Billions & Billion and Cosmos. Being a fan of Carl Sagan, I had to read this novel. Dr. Sagan had a deep interest in astronomy, astrochemistry, and SETI. That's the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence and that's what this novel is based on. I actually saw the movie before checking this book out and I'm quite glad I did. Although the movie (of the same title) is great, the book is 10x better. The novel goes into much deeper detail especially with Ellie Arroway and the relation with her family. What are you waiting for? Go read this novel.90ptg

An imaginative story of amazing food weather that inspired the hit movie, cloudy with a chance of meatballs is a favorite of grown-ups and children everywhere.the tiny town of chewandswallow was very much like any other tiny town—except for its weather which came three times a day, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. but it never rained rain and it never snowed snow and it never blew just wind. it rained things like soup and juice. it snowed things like mashed potatoes. and sometimes the wind blew in storms of hamburgers. life for the townspeople was delicious until the weather took a turn for the worse. the food got larger and larger and so did the portions. chewandswallow was plagued by damaging floods and storms of huge food. the town was a mess and the people feared for their lives. something had to be done, and in a hurry.
Reviews:
One of my favorite books of all time and that's because I love food. This book taught me to be careful for what I wish for lol. Simply because sometimes what you wish for can be more than you can bare. My kids love this book and the movie even better and as a patent I'm just lucky to be able to share my childhood with my little onessanetra.s
