Love this book. Thank you! Highly recommend!jaxbaby64
I love her biography! So compelling!diricha-9151
I hve read alot of Bio's on Monroe whom i love to peices but Donald Spoto puts her with in a new and understanding light, that of a woman struggling in a society that was not yet ready for someone with such unabashed sexuality however the flip side to that coin is that under it all she suffered from extreme anxiety and nervousness which we all do. its as the saying goes, "Careful what you wish for you just might get it". Still to me one where there was an objective veiw, not one of worship or pure disgust as some writers have exhibited. For that i admire the author as much as the subject. A great read for any Monroe fan.mmfan4life15

4. Bombshell: The Night Bobby Kennedy Killed Marilyn Monroe [Book]

Product Details:
Bombshell: the night bobby kennedy murdered marilyn monroe tells the essential truth of the death of marilyn monroe at the hand of robert kennedy, attorney general of the united states. drawing on unseen police files, marilyn monroe's private diary, and first-hand testimony, this book proves that robert kennedy was directly responsible for her death. it details marilyn monroe's tumultuous personal involvement with him and his brother, president john kennedy. the new evidence and testimony is provided by mike rothmiller who, as an agent of the organized crime intelligence division (ocid) of the lapd, had direct personal access to hundreds of secret files on exactly what happened at marilyn monroe's californian home on august 5, 1962. with his training and specialist knowledge, rothmiller used that unseen information to get to the heart of the matter, to the people who were there the night marilyn monroe died–two of whom played major roles in the cover-up–and the wider conspiracy to protect the kennedys at all costs. there will be those with doubts, but to them, the lawman–who has advised the white house, the pentagon, and international crime agencies–says the printed, forensic, and oral evidence are totally convincing. he insists: "if i presented my evidence in any court of law, i'd get a conviction." includes eight pages of black and white photographs.
Reviews:
Compulsive reading once you get beyond the early section however disappointed that the diary entries were pretty much limited to about 10 pages. It is not a very well written book & there are some unsubstantiated sweeping statements, for example, the author states that Marilyn was politically astute but nothing reallyto support this view, but still worth reading.Jackie

Reviews:
This is a charming book with fascinating and painstaking recreations both visually and in the stories of Marilyn Monroe's last days. Obviously a labour of love. The only thing I was disappointed with is that the only colour photographs are to be found on the cover and back cover, all inside is black and white photographs, line drawings of the house design of this residence and much more. This is the only property Monroe ever purchased during her lifetime. After reading through this book you get the feeling you have some idea of the atmosphere of the house and last days of this Hollywood legend, an intimate, unpretentious but contented existence, days spent pottering around, decorating, choosing plants, redoing garden edging and planting small plants inbetween are things Marilyn herself seemed to enjoy. She also seemed to be looking forward to much more domestic bliss alongside the many plans she also had laid for her movie career, which was by no means over. A far cry from the high drama of Kennedy liaisons, drug taking etc., An unsensational, intimate portrayal that seems to ring true.
Just finished it this afternoon. Such a beautiful read.
16. The Murder Of Marilyn Monroe: Case Closed [Book]

Product Details:
A new york times best seller! implicating robert f. kennedy in marilyn monroe’s murder, this is the first book to name the lapd officers who accompanied him to her home, provide details about how the kennedys used bribes to silence one of the ambulance drivers, and specify how the cover-up was aided by a noted pathologist’s lies. – since marilyn monroe died among suspicious circumstances on the night of august 4, 1962, there have been queries and theories, allegations and investigations, but no definitive evidence about precisely what happened and who was involved . . . until now. – here renowned mm expert jay margolis and new york times bestselling author richard buskin finally lay to rest more than fifty years of wild speculation and misguided assertions by actually naming, for the first time, the screen goddess’s killer while utilizing the testimony of eye-witnesses to exactly what took place inside her house on fifth helena drive in los angeles’ brentwood neighborhood. – this blockbuster volume blows the lid off the world’s most notorious and talked-about celebrity death, and in the process exposes not only the truth about an iconic star’s tragic final hours, but also how a legendary american politician used powerful resources to protect what many still perceive as his untarnished reputation. – skyhorse publishing, as well as our arcade imprint, are proud to publish a broad range of books for readers interested in history–books about world war ii, the third reich, hitler and his henchmen, the jfk assassination, conspiracies, the american civil war, the american revolution, gladiators, vikings, ancient rome, medieval times, the old west, and much more.

17. Marilyn Monroe: A Life Of The Actress [Book]

Product Details:
In american popular culture, marilyn monroe(1926-1962) has evolved in stature from movie superstar to american icon. monroe's own understanding of her place in the american imagination and her effort to perfect her talent as an actress are explored with great sensitivity in carl rollyson's engaging narrative. he shows how movies became crucial events in the shaping of monroe's identity. he regards her enduring gifts as a creative artist, discussing how her smaller roles in the asphalt jungle and all about eve established the context for her career, while in-depth chapters on her more important roles in bus stop, some like it hot, and the misfits provide the centerpiece of his examination of her life and career. through extensive interviews with many of monroe's colleagues, close friends, and other biographers, and a careful rethinking of the literature written about her, rollyson is able to describe her use of method acting and her studies with michael chekhov and lee strasberg, head of the actors' studio in new york. the author also analyzes several of monroe's own drawings, diary notes, and letters that have recently become available. with over thirty black and white photographs (some published for the first time), a new foreword, and a new afterword, this volume brings rollyson's 1986 book up to date. from this comprehensive, yet critically measured wealth of material, rollyson offers a distinctive and insightful portrait of marilyn monroe, highlighted by new perspectives that depict the central importance of acting to the authentic aspects of her being.
Reviews:
One of the better books – out of hundreds of "junk books" on Marilyn Monroe's life. Follows Guiles Biography and ignores the super-Hype created by the Mailer-Slatzer-Carmen followers who – starting with Mailer who honestly said "I needed the money, and saying Marilyn committed suicide wouldn't sell books" – created the apocrapha & mythology that never happened. Any true researcher / student of MM's life should read Churchwell first, Guiles second, and this book third. As other reviews state, the great value of this book is twofold: it is written by a serious university academic writing about ACTING and detached from the sensationalist branch; it is the only book which critiques MM's acting and development as an actress, while reviewing her films as films – with critique, analysis and interpretation of film nuances worth noticing, to appreciate MM in her time, and also appreciate the timelessness of her work – which stands up today in 2010 very well. I very much like Rollyson's writing style, and, highly regard his scholarship in a field so filled with falsehoods – the life of Marilyn Monroe. Because I am researching MM's life to complete a very intense docudrama script about her as a person – off camera – no Kennedys, with focus on her manners, behaviors and off-camera persona – only books which accurately research this real life are of value to me – these are the biographic studies most useful to me and I recommend them to anyone who wants to separate the reality from the inventive hype-mongers who cashed in – and only wanted to cash in – on the life of a death person who wasn't around to say "I didn't even know you – none of this you're saying is true" which MM would say to Slatzer, Carmen and others who ride that cash-cow train started by Mailer. If you are a student of film, or just want to know MM better, and appreciate her work as an actress, Rollyson is a great guide, pointing out so many nuances and details which make watching her films much, much more rewarding. This book gets an A+ from me, and it's a keeper.husbandnewbride

Although there is no proof that Tony Curtis ever had an affair with young Marilyn, it certainly makes for a good read. Tony writes in a casual, sitting across from you, style. He also has a great sense of humor even concerning his larger than life ego. A fun book, much to enjoy!suhano
