Reviews:
This is a really down-to-earth and Lively read. It's really fun and enjoyable. Francine Jay has a great sense of humor but Still Remains to the point and practical. I don't feel like I'm reading a book about minimalism or she calls it a living guide I kind of feel like I'm reading a diary. Definitely worth their while also great read if you're just trying to declutter but not necessarily go toward minimalism. This is a pretty lenient book about minimalism coming from somebody (Francine) who only owns one pair of shoes..itsryanlesley
Of all the clutter clear books I read, for some reason this one makes me ACT. I get up and "just toss don't worry if you could have used it" and "devote space to what you do in real life not a fantasy life" (where I was going to wear all those clothes, read all these mags and watch all those dvds!!)meirvin-0
Easy to read, funny, relatable, and sets up a clear plan to declutter that anyone can use and adjust where needed.nwolgamott

Extremely helpful for anyone who wants to take back their home and life from the consumer society we live in. The Joy of Less teaches you to be happy with what you want and need and to get rid of the things you done, while simultaneously helping you to prevent the further buildup of stuff. 10/10, would recommend to anyone.tadatastic_4
This book cuts to the chase of "how to de-clutter" without feeling deprived. She describes the effect of doing so and how that makes a smooth-running and "great to live in" house. . The chapters are short (quick to read if reading time is short, or a dose of motivation is needed!), and written with humor. It covers not just the rooms in the house but also the attic, basement, and garage. It gives ideas on how to keep the main part of the home tidy by getting the whole family into the idea of how to be neat. The idea of using what she calls "Modules" is right on. Definitely worth the purchase and read of this book!!!celeste387

6. Minimalism: Live A Meaningful Life [Book]
Product Details:
At age 30, joshua fields millburn and ryan nicodemus left their six-figure corporate careers, jettisoned most of their material possessions, and started focusing on life's most important aspects. and they never looked back. this book's foreword and first chapter examine joshua and ryan's backgrounds, their troubled pasts, and their eventual spiral into depression. these chapters discuss why the authors didn't feel fulfilled by their careers and why they turned to society's idea of living: working ridiculous hours, wastefully spending money, living paycheck to paycheck. instead of finding their passions, they pacified themselves with ephemeral indulgences, inducing a cocaine-like high that didn't last far past the checkout line. and then, after a set of life-changing events, they discovered minimalism, which allowed joshua and ryan to eliminate life's excess and focus on the essential things in life. the subsequent chapters explore their journey into a lifestyle known as minimalism and discusse why these two successful businessmen eschewed their excess stuff in favor of focusing on life's the more important aspects: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution.

Reviews:
I had been organizing my closets and shedding what was "not me". After all , a wardrobe should reflect your current self. This book takes it to a more profound level and discusses, through the author's personal examples and experiences, the concept of minimalism. That is; wanting and having less things without the need to acquire collections of stuff. Very worthwhile information in this book.williamkazak
This books has some good ideas for downsizing & becoming a minimalist but I would not want to decrease the items in my life to the same level as the author.kris7777777
I really learnt a lot from this book and loved it's very conversational tone. I am not a great one for self-help books and I will never have a minimalist home. However, I now look at the things in my home with new eyes. I consider why I might be keeping something. I think twice about buying something. I am transferring documents and photos to electronic files. There is a lot about what stuff is and why we keep and buy it and how getting rid of it can free up time and space (mental & physical). I bought the paperback and made notes and tore out pages I really liked. Then I purchased a hard copy for the bookshelf. I am slowly reconsidering everything I own and do.Wendy the reader

AN INSIGHTFUL GUIDE TO HELP US NAVIGATE THE COMPLEXITIES OF MODEN LIFEsteveibbit
Fumio Sasaki writes a book that compares to his lifestyle. Not unnecessary things! At first glance, we may think this book is a sort of guide, manual that you read and learn, but instead it is an honest description of a man's jorney. And even more, it takes you along and makes you think about yourself and your "things" and not just about what is on the pages. A great book that will make you think. Even if I was already on the way to some of these ideas, having a little map of the road makes it easier. Remember… If you haven't used it for 4 seasons, it's time to get rid of it!andrimovic
17. Less: A Visual Guide To Minimalism [Ebook]
Product Details:
Simplify life and amplify living by mastering the fundamentals of minimalism through this visual guide to embracing a minimalist lifestyle. – how can living with less contribute to a greater sense of fulfillment? it seems contradictory, yet the minimalist lifestyle, which focuses on scaling back your possessions and simplifying your life to just the essentials, achieves just that. adopt minimal living, and you'll find that less is more:more time because you don't waste it caring for and organizing stuff. – more space because you don't fill it with objects of marginal value. – more money because you don't spend it on unnecessary things. – more clarity because your mind isn't bogged down by the clutter around you. – more enjoyment because your energy is spent on experiences and connections. using decision trees, flow charts, icons, and other graphics, less shows how minimalism can be applied to any area of life–including home, wardrobe, decor, cooking, cleaning, finances, and organizing your time–and how it can be adapted to suit your own goals and help you achieve your version of happiness.

This book didn't really tell me much that I didn't already know but I really loved the simple layout. If I was a beginner I would have loved this as my first introduction to minimalism; it covers all the important points without getting wordy and presents it in a way that is easy to digest. I will definitely be keeping this to lend to any family and friends who would like to read more about minimalism.Julie

Reviews:
In The Minimalist Home, Josh Becker takes you through each room of your house, and provides suggestions on how to minimize your belongings. The purpose is not simply to decrease physical clutter, but also to free up emotional space and allow readers to live their best lives. Each chapter is geared toward a difference space within the home, and includes a step-by-step for successfully minimizing the space. He also includes a checklist to help identify when you have completed that space. Each chapter also features testimonials from people who have used Becker's method, which I found to be very helpful in applying the ideas. If I'm being honest, I started this book expecting to gain very little. While I don't live a true minimalist lifestyle, I frequently go through our belongings and purge any unnecessary items. I am happy to report that I found his suggestions very helpful and I cleared four garbage bags worth of items out of my house by the time I finished the book. I would recommend The Minimalist Home more for people who have not had any experience with minimalism, but anyone will take away helpful information. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher.KJ Fischer
I have always been one that tries not to have too much clutter but I've never considered myself a minimalist. Despite trying to minimize clutter in my house, it continues to creep in despite my best efforts. We are in the middle of moving at the moment, and I figured it was the perfect opportunity to read The Minimalist Home and implement the steps needed to start living more simply in our next home. The Minimalist Home begins by explaining what it means to be a minimalist, getting to know the author and how him and his family acclimated to a new lifestyle, and the blessings this change triggered. The meat of the book breaks down each area of the home and gives great suggestions and guidance. Unlike other books, The Minimalist Home encourages participation from everyone in the household, which I found refreshing, but I do have to say that a lot of the information is rehashed, though everything repeated is a wonderful reminder. That mixed with little tips and stories sprinkled throughout helped keep the book fresh and original. I have found a lot of the information incredibly helpful throughout the decluttering and packing process. Everything that leaves my house is a tiny burden off my shoulders and what stays will bless me and my family. The Minimalist Home is a wonderful resource that I believe everyone should reference whether you're a minimalist or not. *I have reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All opinions are completely honest, and my own.CherryPie0420
I must admit that decluttering isn't new to me. Over the years I have actually purged some of my belongings and then, as with the case of many addictions, I slipped back into my old habits and replaced them with other items. Being on the launch team of The Minimalist Home has once again given me incentive to declutter and refocus my life. Metablogger and international speaker Joshua Becker offers tips to help us make the most of our living space and he even suggests that a minimized home is a better place to come home to and it is also a better place to go out from. Becker explains 'The Becker Method', shares tips for decluttering each room of our house and then he gives us a Minimalism Maintenance Guide to help us maintain this new lifestyle! Sprinkled throughout the book are key concepts and three of them especially resonated with me. **Never organize what you can discard.#minimalisthome **Not every possession is a belonging.#minimalisthome **Be remembered for the life you lived–not the things you bought.#minimalisthome The concept of minimalist living certainly isn't new but this book stresses the benefits of a decluttered, refocused life and all of the information is handily contained in one book! I recommend The Minimalist Home as an excellent resource for anyone who desires a simpler life. I received an advanced copy of this book for review from Waterbrook Multnomah as part of the book's launch team partnership. These are my honest opinions. ** Quotes are taken from an uncorrected proof. Content shown may or may not appear in the final text.Connie
