1. The Self-Taught Programmer: The Definitive Guide To Programming Professionally [Book]
Product Details:
'one of the best software design books of all time' – bookauthority cory althoff is a self-taught programmer. but once he got there, he realised he was severely under-prepared. he was overwhelmed by the amount of things he needed to know but hadn't learned. his journey learning to program, and his experience in first software engineering job were the inspiration for this book. this book is not just about learning to program, although you will learn to code. if you want to program professionally, it is not enough to learn to code; that is why, in addition to helping you learn to program, althoff also cover the rest of the things you need to know to program professionally that classes and books don't teach you. the self-taught programmer is a roadmap, a guide to take you from writing your first python program to passing your first technical interview. the book is divided into five sections: 1. learn to program in python 3 and build your first program. 2. learn object-oriented programming and create a powerful python program to get you hooked. 3. learn to use tools like git, bash and regular expressions. then use your new coding skills to build a web scraper. 4. study computer science fundamentals like data structures and algorithms. 5. finish with best coding practices, tips for working with a team and advice on landing a programming job. you can learn to program professionally. the path is there. will you take it? from the author i spent one year writing the self-taught programmer. it was an exciting and rewarding experience. i treated my book like a software project. after i finished writing it, i created a program to pick out all of the code examples from the book and execute them in python to make sure all 300+ examples worked properly. then i wrote software to add line numbers and color to every code example. finally, i had a group of 200 new programmers 'beta read' the book to identify poorly explained concepts and look for any errors my program missed. i hope you learn as much reading my book as i did writing it. best of luck with your programming!

This book is a quick paced introduction to coding. The examples are really useful for helping to understand the different concepts and their uses and to build confidence. I have read a few different introductory books however, as a self taught student, I found that the author better understands my position and I prefer their approach.David

3. Programming From The Ground Up [Book]
Product Details:
Programming from the ground up uses linux assembly language to teach new programmers the most important concepts in programming. it takes you a step at a time through these concepts: * how the processor views memory * how the processor operates * how programs interact with the operating system * how computers represent data internally * how to do low-level and high-level optimization most beginning-level programming books attempt to shield the reader from how their computer really works. programming from the ground up starts by teaching how the computer works under the hood, so that the programmer will have a sufficient background to be successful in all areas of programming. this book is being used by princeton university in their cos 217 "introduction to programming systems" course.

Reviews:
I am sure that other readers of this text with think more highly of it then me. If you loved "Programming in C" by K&R then you will love this book. Personally, imo, it is an overrated text and this book is in the exact same identical style and suffers from the exact same problems. Terseness and lack of enough detail for my liking. However it does serve as a good introduction to the subject while other golang books cover the golang style of programming (the idioms of the language) it only briefly touches some of these. I prefer a less terse and deeper text even for a beginner's first Go book but I do own two copies of it and EVERY golang library should have this text. Now to this specific volume, the Paperback, excellent quality at an excellent price and highly recommended for your technical library.tajemis

Bra att reflektera över för utvecklare och ledning.Patrik G
After a day there is now a small forest of little PostIt notes sticking out from my copy of this book. I've always found Uncle Bob's writing to be compelling and easily digestible and this book is no exception. The only reason I put it down after picking it up was that I knew I needed to rest after each chapter otherwise I would not get the full benefit from the next chapter. Uncle Bob's tale of his career and his journey to become a professional is one of many lessons, running against the grain of job recruitment ads expecting a string of successes. Pair programming and TDD do begin to feel like a panacea, but Uncle Bob is careful to show that there's much more to becoming a professional programmer than those 2 practices. Don't try to read this book, commit to reading it and deliver on that commitment.

What a farce! Minimal wear consists of a ripped front cover that is taped up. Then you open it up to find that it is an old library book. Shocking!hugheso25

17. C Programming: The Essentials For Engineers And Scientists [Book]
Product Details:
1 the purpose of this text this text has been written in response to two trends that have gained considerable momentum over the past few years. the first is the decision by many undergraduate engineering and science departments to abandon the traditional programming course based on the aging fortran 77 standard. this decision is not surprising, considering the more modem features found in languages such as pascal and c. however, pascal never developed a strong following in scientific computing, and its use is in decline. the new fortran 90 standard defines a powerful, modem language, but this long-overdue redesign of fortran has come too late to prevent many colleges and universities from switching to c. the acceptance of c by scientists and engineers is based perhaps as. much on their perceptions of c as an important language, which it certainly is, and on c programming experience as a highly marketable skill, as it is on the suitability of c for scientific computation. for whatever reason, c or its derivative c++ is now widely taught as the first and often only programming language for undergraduates in science and engineering. the second trend is the evolving nature of the undergraduate engineering curriculum. at a growing number of institutions, the traditional approach of stressing theory and mathematics fundamentals in the early undergraduate years, and postponing real engineering applications until later in the curriculum, has been turned upside down.
