This book was mentioned in a movie I saw. It made me curious so I bought the book. Surprised at how interesting the book is. A fun read.dardon_59
ZOM-BIE: (Zombe)n.also ZOM-BIES pl.1. An animated corpse that feeds on living human flesh. 2. A voodoo spell that raises the dead. 3. A Voodoo snake god. 4. One who moves or acts in a dazelike a zombie.[a word of West African origin] What is a zombie? How are they created? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What are their needs, their desires? Why are they hostile to humanity? Before discussing any survival techniques, you must first learn what you are trying to survive. We must begin by separating fact from fiction. The walking dead are neither a work of black magic nor any other supernatural force. Their origin stems from a virus known asSolanum, a Latin word used by Jan Vanderhaven, who first discovered the disease.twiztidlove
The Zombie Survival Guide is essential reading for any who fear the Walking Dead, or just enjoy Zombie-themed entertainment. This guide book is organised for quick reference to each of its parts: zombie description, combat, defense, escape and reclaiming civilisation. The first part outlines what a zombie is, both in Max Brooke’s world and various other fictional forms. Max Brooke’s version is based on the virulent Solanum virus. Probably derived from 'Solanum Nigrum’, or 'Deadly Nightshade’. Gardeners will note that the 'Solanum’ family also includes potatoes and tomatoes… In any case, you’ll find lots of helpful advice in here for surviving the next wave of living dead that crests the horizon. You’ll also be disabused of any dangerous notions derived from 'survivor movies’ featuring hapless groups trapped in shopping malls and other high risk zones. You’ll certainly never pick up a flamethrower when a .22 semi automatic is handy. Or you might just try some moves with a sharpened shovel. It is all about kill ratios, apparently. Enjoy.James

6. World War Z: An Oral History Of The Zombie War [Book]
Product Details:
Defeated the living dead, but at what cost? told in the haunting and riveting voices of the men and women who witnessed the horror firsthand, world war z is the only record of the pandemic. the zombie war came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. max brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors, traveled across the united states of america and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet. he recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, hell of that dreadful time. think mad max meets the hot zone. . . . it’s apocalypse now, pandemic-style. creepy but fascinating.”—usa today “will grab you as tightly as a dead man’s fist. a.”—entertainment weekly, ew pick “probably the most topical and literate scare since orson welles’s war of the worlds radio broadcast . . . this is action-packed social-political satire with a global view.”—dallas morning news
Reviews:
Great book. Reads like it actually happened. Gets the heart pounding at some stages. Highly recommended.icopywrite
Easily the best book written about Zombies and a must read for fans of the genre. Max Brooks drew on inspiration for this masterpiece in the form of the Godfather of Zombies, George A Romero and the military wartime classic An Oral History of World War II. It is perhaps this seamless mesh of fact and fiction that draws the reader in and begs the question of is this what would happen if it could happen… Treated as if WWZ has actually occurred on earth, it is at times frightening to see just how easily an outbreak like this could run rampant across the population and how quickly societies can fall into chaos and carnage. They're currently filming WWZ in Malta (as of July '11) and I plan on reading WWZ again before release. I hope they include the reference, somehow, to the All Blacks and the Springboks battling in the Tri-Nations tournament. Very realistic with all the gore that fans will love, 5 stars and I'm jealous of those yet to read it as they have a real treat in store.Matt
This is my third copy of the book. What I love about the story is that it feels more about how the world would respond to a global catastrophe, regardless of what the reason was. In this case, it was zombies. I love the perspectives and often ran to learn more about Israel, the catacombs under Paris, Australia, Japan, etc. I have read it about 80 times because I love the little moments. For me, it is a wonderful read. From someone who does emergency management and is a "survivalist," I enjoy reading this book. Does it have a "slant?" Perhaps…but then everything does that I read. I read lots of different slants if they are a cracking yarn. It is my cup of tea as they say.ALEXANDER
7. Zombie: A Novel [Book]
Product Details:
Meet quentin p. he is a problem for his professor father and his loving mother, though of course they do not believe the charge (sexual molestation of a minor) that got him in that bit of trouble. he is a challenge for his court-appointed psychiatrist, who nonetheless is encouraged by the increasingly affirmative quality of his dreams and his openness in discussing them. he is a thoroughly sweet young man for his wealthy grandmother, who gives him more and more, and can deny him less and less. he is the most believable and thoroughly terrifying sexual psychopath and killer ever to be brought to life in fiction, as joyce carol oates achieves her boldest and most brilliant triumph yet—a dazzling work of art that extends the borders of the novel into the darkest heart of truth.

8. Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! [Book]
Product Details:
"zombies ain't what they used to be. not so long ago, they were safely ensconced on haiti so the rest of the world could merely scoff at the bizarre myth of the living dead on one relatively small caribbean island. well, they have proliferated at an alarming rate, invading the rest of the world, and it seems unlikely that they have any intention of going away anytime soon. w.b. seabrook, in his 1929 book, the magic island, recounted "true" tales of voodoo magic on haiti bringing the recently dead back to life as slow-moving, virtually brain-dead creatures who would work tirelessly in the fields without pay and without complaint. these stories introduced the zombie to much of the world, though most national folklores have similar tales and legends. a decade after seabrook's groundbreaking volume, zora neale hurston researched haitian folklore and told similar stories of eyewitness accounts of zombies, as have subsequent anthropologists, sociologists, and others not prone to imaginative fancies. if zombie literature began with the reportage of seabrook, it had powerful ancestral works on which to draw"–

Reviews:
Once again I was glued to this book and could not put it down. I did not want it to end but I could not wait to find out what happens.CRYSTAL
I wasn't sure of how I would like this one since the story is told through Frosty and Camilla's perspectives. But, I am glad to say that it was still enjoyable. Now, it has been a while since I read the last book so I can't say whether or not Frosty and Camilla's voices are distinct compared to the other three books. There was zombie fighting, hot and steamy attraction and humor. All of the things that you've come to expect from the series. I also enjoyed learning more about what happened to Frosty and Camilla. As a series ender, I enjoyed this book a lot. It brings it all together and ties up the loose ends. Not that there was a lot, if any. For some reason I want to say that this was originally supposed to be a trilogy. There was a sense of contentment at the end of this one, and I am not sure if it was there at the end of the last one. I think that this was a good way to end the series.Starr K @ The Literati Press
The series is awesome. Following their journey, you feel their struggle and heartache. Gena Showalter is a great author to followVanessa

ZOM100 is a zombie manga from author Haro Aso and Kotaro Takata. Akira, an employee in an exploitative, soul-crushing company wishes his life was different. When one day he wakes up to find the world overrun by zombies, he could not be happier. Now that he's free from the shackles of his job, he finally has time to do all the things he's wanted to do. While a zombie apocalypse is happening. ZOM100 at its most basic is fun. At no point throughout this first volume does it take itself too seriously, and it is all the better for it. This story is literally a man trying to cross things off his bucket list. Think 'My Name is Earl' meets 'The Walking Dead' meets 'Grand Blue Dreaming.' It's incredible. Ultimately, ZOM100 is a series I am very glad I read. It looks good, the dialogue and characterisation isn't as cringy as it could be, and as I said before, it's fun. Absolutely a series I recommend you having a look at, and one I will definitely be continuing to read.Darcy
Really cool and interesting take on a zombie story. I like the main characters attitude to the situation and how he views the zombie outbreak in a sort of positive light because its a way for him to finally do things he's always wanted to do. #sweepstakesNICK
This manga is so different than anything you read before about Zombies.. its celebration of what you need to do in ur pocket list before turning to zombie.. great concept, great story & so much fun.HUSSEIN

Reviews:
"Marvel Zombies" is a great read and the kind of purchase ebay was made for. The book had gotten great buzz, but when I went to look for it I discovered the hardcover first edition was out of print everywhere, and really difficult to find. I found it here for a decent price in great shape. The story itself is fascinating, full of dark comedy and way more violence than you would expect in a Marvel TPB. Without spoilers, some of Marvel's most iconic figures go through some horrific moments. It's graphic too, so don't expect to see things hinted at and then not shown. If it's happening in the story, you'll see it on the page. Be ready, and don't give this to someone too young. This edition also comes with a collection of the variant covers for each issue, as well as the originals so you can compare. Besides a pretty funny intro by Kirkman, that's the only real bonus material but it's fun to see how twisted the originals got. All in all, MZ is a great read for Marvel fans, Zombie fans, action fans, humor fans, basically just about anyone interested at all in this medium. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.1_nerd

I just love all his booksmertz6869
I was really looking forward to this title as I am a big zombie fan, however I was genuinely disappointed in this book. Labelled as "the forensics of the living dead" – in my experience it was more like a forensics for dummies which used a zombie attack/outbreak as a working example. The layout of the book felt more like a badly laid out magazine, as in the middle of chapters there would be random snippets that did not really relate to the rest of the chapter, quizzes and zombie related artwork. This would be a great book for anyone who wanted to learn more about basic forensics as it is aimed at a zero knowledge level, but for those who have a deeper understanding of forensic science its a bit insulting. The entire book feels like a thesis as opposed to a how to book, right down to the footnote references that seem to dot almost every page.neil
