Reviews:
I purchased this, as most other items, in store. The Big First Grade Workbook by School Zone covers a lot of material, from Language Arts to Math. My son is homeschooled and currently in second grade. However, this workbook has been a wonderful aid for review and helping him remember skills he learned last year, a refresher course if you want to call it such. I purchased it for his first grade year, but we didnt have a chance to use it. There is plenty of pages set up for writing answers, which is good practice for that penmanship. Addition and subtraction sections are helping him memorize his facts better as he has struggled getting them down. There is also an answer key in the back to check all the little ones work. I highly recommend this and other Work Zone materials as they have proved wonderful study aids and a great addition to our curriculum.Brandi
My son always wants to give us a hard time when it comes to doing his homework and this book has helped. He is in first grade and doesn’t get much homework so I was looking for a book that not only contained math and writing but also was colorful and made learning fun. It has over 200 pages so it will last a long time. I usually do 2-3 pages a day with him and he always wants to do more.Ivana667
Wonderful learning book. I got this as a refresher before my kiddo begins 1st grade. She loves working through the different pages.Krista

Reviews:
This is a perfect back to school book for my grandson.Netter
This is a really neat book, told in reference to the classic "The Night Before Christmas" story. It's great to read for the first day of school and can be used throughout to teach rhyme. Excellent book.lilcamgirl7120485
I am a first grade teacher, and I bought this book to use as a read aloud on the first day of school. It was short and sweet, and I'm sure the students will be able to connect to the main character in this story! The pictures are beautiful, and very detailed, and I love how the story is modeled after "The Night Before Christmas" – so cute!kto6robyn

I apparently have a pet peeve with children's books that don't have page numbers. I threw out the other Baby Professor book, published by Speedy Publishing LLC because of the nightmarish format. The book's title was ADDITION and SUBTRACTION DRILLS. The Frog Life Cycle's lack of page numbers is disappointing, but the book has very nice illustrations. The sight words, such as "clump," "eventually," and "embryo" could be a challenge, so save the reading for when you're able to sit with the reader to guide him/her along.topiary

Book delivered promptly to me. I took The BFG and The Witches to Norway recently to read to 3 grandchildren and we read BFG in no time as they didn't want me to stop. Each paragraph was exciting. However, the jaw-breaker names were not easy to read! The Witches followed with kids complaining each time they were called for a meal and we had to stop reading.no nick name
In my whole life, this is the only book I’ve read beginning to end and honestly I think it’s just because of how creative they was. It was definitely out of the ordinary and kept my interest sparked! Very good book. I think All kids would enjoy this too. The BFG stands for big friendly giantd'vaughn.m

Reviews:
This is a beautiful hard cover book containing what many would consider essentials (practical knowledge) for boys preparing for life. It may have some conservative views in it, which it okay with me. Overall, it is just very basic, practical information that many families are too busy these days to pass on. I originally bought it for an 8 year old boy. However, once I had the book in hand, I realized that it was more appropriate for a boy of 12 or or older. I liked the book too much to return it, so I am keeping to read and/or to give as a gift when the right opportunity presents itself. This is a high quality purchase for which I paid only $8.99! What a value!Olive
great book for boys – grandsons and great grandsons – excellent content for all youth – girls or boys\ from Invictus – "it matters not how straight the gate – how charged with punishments the scroll – I am the master of my fate – the captain of my soul." this is something worth remembering and repeating and sharing with our young people.sleepyswan
I loved this book! It had so much information in it! I hope my grandson appreciates it as much as I did. I even want one to keep in my house!Bae Bae

8. Bob Books : Sight Words: First Grade
Product Details:
Sight words are words that must be recognized by sight rather than sounded out. they are the most frequently used words in the english language, such as are, was, and out. children who are learning to read are encouraged to practice and memorize this list of words, in order to become fluent readers (who are able to read for meaning rather than stumble over words). sight words are taught primarily in kindergarten and first grade, though often the practice extends up through fourth grade. bob books have always incorporated sight words, though the sounding-out approach minimized their use. these will be the first bob books products to focus on learning and practicing sight words. they will stand alone as two boxes – neither my first, nor numbered as a set. their noted grades (kindergarten or first) will serve as the level. the titles allow parents to choose whether to prep their children for next year, or reinforce what they've learned last year.

Very helpful for teaching beginning readers.MICHELLE

Endearing story of Ivan, the shopping mall gorilla. As he spends his days drawing (his true passion), he befriends Bob, the stray dog, some elephants, and a few others. Great book for kids transitioning to bigger chapter books.ALLISON
My son is 12 and loves this book. I would say it’s age appropriate for 10-12 years old. There is even a movie you can follow with after bookJeb Lia
I bought this to read aloud to my kiddos ages 10, 8, and 5. Each time we sat down to start the book they all wanted to sit close so they could see the few pictures that are included. But the pictures are completely unnecessary because the description the author provides are more than enough for an amazing mental picture of whats happening. Even for my youngest son! We all laughed, cried, and were sad when the book was over. I loved it so much that Ive ordered copies for several friends to read to their children as well!thebreitenstein8
