2. Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone By Rowling J K.
Product Details:
Readers are in for a delightful romp with this award-winning debut from a british author who dances in the footsteps of p.l. travers and roald dahl. as the story opens, mysterious goings-on ruffle the self-satisfied suburban world of the dursleys, culminating in a trio of strangers depositing the dursleys' infant nephew harry in a basket on their doorstep. after 11 years of disregard and neglect at the hands of his aunt, uncle and their swinish son dudley, harry suddenly receives a visit from a giant named hagrid, who informs harry that his mother and father were a witch and a wizard, and that he is to attend hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry himself. most surprising of all, harry is a legend in the witch world for having survived an attack by the evil sorcerer voldemort, who killed his parents and left harry with a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. and so the fun begins, with harry going off to boarding school like a typical english kid.only his supplies include a message-carrying owl and a magic wand. there is enchantment, suspense and danger galore (as well as enough creepy creatures to satisfy the most bogeymen-loving readers, and even a magical game of soccerlike quidditch to entertain sports fans) as harry and his friends ron and hermione plumb the secrets of the forbidden third floor at hogwarts to battle evil and unravel the mystery behind harry's scar. rowling leaves the door wide open for a sequel; bedazzled readers will surely clamour for one. ages 8-12. copyright 1998 reed business information, inc.
Reviews:
I love reading books that were turned into movies because I see the movie and then read the book. This one is very exciting and you don’t see the ending coming. It’s more detailed and gives you a better understanding on the characters in this book. Harry Potter is a boy who finds out he’s a wizard after living years as a house keeper in his aunt and uncles house. He learns about him being a wizard and is forced to battle the same person who ended his parents life. Very good read for all ages!tianna.s
I read this book in one sitting. I was immediately drawn into Harry's world of magic. I was reading the whole think thinking Snape was gonna be bad but got a huge plot twist during the final scene. I love Hagrid he's my favorite character! He's just a sweet man that loves animals. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.amanda.g
Harry Potter has lived a dismal life with his aunt and uncle, the Dursleys. He sleeps in a closet and has never had a birthday party or Christmas presents. Even worse, he has to endure life with his horrible spoiled cousin, Dudley. Then on Harry's eleventh birthday, things change when a letter arrives, (by owl), inviting him to attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Suddenly Harry finds himself among friends, learning about potion-making and magic-wand waving and broomstick riding. There're chocolate frogs and Every Flavor Beans and a three-headed dog and Quidditch-a game better than soccer. Also, Hagrid, a lovable gamekeeper who befriends Harry; Hermione Granger, a witch who's read all the school books and knows all the rules; and there's Ron Weasly, Harry's best friend who has quite a legacy of his own to fill. Hogwarts treats him well, even with the abomidable Malfoy's mean tricks or Professor Snape's obvious hatred of Harry. The soon Harry finds himself in the middle of a mystery at Hogwarts, and together with his two new friends, embarks on adventures he never dreamed possible. The book is engaging with its imagery, humor, plot twists and real-life child problems. The book doesn't only appeal to children but adults as well. She's a master on fantasy. She really can, with no difficulty at all, think herself back to 11 years old. You will love the whimsical descriptions, humorous quotes and the fun characters.andra.d

I remember Junie b Jones books From my childhood. However, what I failed to remember was the language! Junie is always referring to someone as “stupid” or “someone she can beat up“ this book isn’t filled with the positivity I would like it to have. It had great potential to share experiences through the eyes of a young elementary child 🙁Does not work

Reviews:
I don’t like writing reviews. I think it’s silly (although I read them…) and because of that I’ve never written one, but this book is worth it. I saw this book among other “first day of school” books section in the middle of a very busy day at Target. I read a few and didn’t really love them then I picked this gem up. I’m an immigrant in this country and I immediately started weeping, INSIDE Target, in front of people, around page 3. It is a lovely book that is beautifully written and illustrated and I only wish it had been written earlier. It tells a lovely message of inclusion and love and family and friendships. I’m not going to lie, I thought I was buying it for my American born child, but really, I bought it for myself. Just a beautiful book.Athinak
Beautiful book. Made me cry but in the best way. Hoping it fosters empathy and compassion in my child, but also gives them tools for a time when they inevitably feel like they don’t fit in.ashbc
This is a very cute book. I actually purchased it after seeing it on multiple teachers Wishlists.Jeremy

Reviews:
These characters are great fun. I usually read these books to my 6 and 8 yr olds and we're often laughing out loud together at the antics of the two main characters. My 8yr old is now reading these on her own. I recommend these to friends as they're highly engaging and fun to read as a parent too. They're now my "go to" gift for birthdays.KB
I bought this book to read with my 4 year old daughter. The main characters are mean spirited. It teaches children to keep secrets from their parents—and you wouldn’t know it from the description, but there is a lot of witchcraft involved in the book. Do your research before purchasing to see if this is a good fit for your child.Jenna
I began to purchase Ivy and Bean books as an alternative to Junie B Jones books. My daughter loved Junie b books but she absolutely loves and prefers Ivy and Bean books. They are written well, grammatically speaking, this series is better than Junie b books. If your child enjoys Junie b then he/she will love Ivy and Bean books.crystal_v

Great book and great priceStephanie
I love this workbook! I am working with a couple students distance learning and this book as well as the writing and math one closely follows the curriculum the kids are working on with their teachers so I am able to use pages from the work books to reinforce what they are learning in class. The pages are colorful and fun. I wish there were more pages but for the price it has a good amount of content. I definitely recommend these books and I love that they are geared toward a specific grade rather than a range such as age 3-5. These books specifically cover what your child is learning in first grade.chattymom4
