Really, this book is just fantastic. It may be a little boring at the start, but it is really interesting and exciting. I was actually amazed by how breathtaking it was. I would definitely recommend this for people who like adventure, excitement and mystery. This book is up in one of the best books I've ever read. This book is the GOAT of all books.Budah
Originally reviewed on Just Me My Books. The book follows Percy, who ends up vaporising his maths teacher on a trip to a New York museum, and no one seems to notice. When he is expelled from yet another boarding school, his mother treats him to a weekend at the beach, even though it looks like a hurricane is about to descend on them. It's only on the arrival of Percy's friend Grover do they realise something is wrong and that a Minotaur is after Percy. Soon, Percy arrives at Camp Half-Blood and learns that he is a Demigod – half human, half god. After being recognised by his father, one of the three gods who vowed they would not have any more children, Percy finds out he is being blamed for stealing Zeus' master lightning bolt, and so is sent on a quest to retrieve it from the Underworld before the Summer Solstice, in order to prevent war on Mount Olympus. With the help of his Satyr Grove and fellow camper Annabeth, they discover that the gods have more to worry about than Percy being the son of a powerful god, and that Kronos maybe trying to make a comeback.victoria.k
My Appraisal of the book Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief Written by Rick Riordan If you were wondering about this book and can't decide if you want to read it, I read it and maybe this will help you decide. This book tells the first story of the Percy Jackson Series. The story is mainly based on Greek mythology but with a modern twist. Read about the marvelous first adventure of main character Percy Jackson (a teen from Manhattan) and his friends as they fight monsters and try to keep peace between the Olympian gods. This story is full of action and adventure and will keep readers wanting more. This story won't let you down, except that there is more in the series, and you haven't read it all. yet. I highly recommend this book. Opinion of the Tome GuyThe Tome Guy

Reviews:
Not as many illustrations as I would've liked to see. Many many many pages in a row with no pictures, which was very disappointing. Even small illustrations would've made a world of a difference. The illustrations that were done though were wonderful. We all know the story is perfect. So we buy these books for the illustrations and disappointed in how many pages did not contain them. Still collectors should buy.Red
These illustrated hard bound books are very high quality and the illustrations and design details on every page are stunning. These are not normal reading books where you can lay in bed and read. They are big and heavy, more like a coffee table book. My daughter loves to follow along in this version while we read to her from the normal paperback version in bed at night. It's been a big hit in our house. The text is the same as the normal paperback version of the novels.DarbyV
I just picked up this book yesterday to add to the boxed set of books 1-3 that is being shipped directly to me. Guys- the pictures are BEAUTIFUL and the book itself is heavy and feels important (remember the old school encyclopedia britannica books? it feels like that!). My 5 year old was immediately drawn to the pages and wanted to start it right away. Yes, my book also had a 20% off sticker on the front. I was able to very easily peel it off without any damage to the book. If you buy in store, double check the website price first – web price was 12 cheaper than in-store, but I was able to get a price match to their online price.akstevie

Reviews:
My second favorite Neil Gaiman book so far . I love the twist and turns in this book and the ghosts and ghoul . The concept is so cool and magical.krys.b
Once you read one book by Neil Gaiman, you find yourself hungry for more. He has a great style of story telling. This is the third book I have read written by Neil and he never has let me down. I like to have my attention held and he does the job. I'll pass this one on to my granddaughter. She'll love it …and I know it does not contain any questionable subject matter.Knitwit
I bought this book because a friend of mine was listening to it on tape and was enjoying it. I went to the library a couple of times but it was always signed out. It's a book for young teenagers to read. I had to agree with my friend that I became totally involved in the book. I kept wondering what was going to happen to this little boy and how could he be living in a graveyard. The book had imagination…and it made mine come alive. I want my daughters to read it next and then it will go up on the bookshelf to be read again later.joycechy

Reviews:
I loved this book because it was thrilling! I could not put it down! Love, love, love it! This book pulls you in from the first page, it is amazing! But probably only for readers above 10.Soph
I absolutely love the book! The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating from me is because it has a circular indent that lasts up through about page 25. It is very big (about the size of an airsoft bullet) but it is kind of annoying. It is in both the first and second book but the rest are in perfect condition so I don't think it should be that way with yours but I just wanted to say something about it.Josephine
This series is AWESOME! The books just keep getting better and better. I am reading through the series so quickly because I can't seem to put the story down. As soon as I get 2/3rd's through I hurry to BAM to get the next one! Thanks BAM, for carrying this great series!ALICIA

Please note–the picture is of the newer publication of this book and not the 1994 printing. It is, however, a good purchase for homeschooling parents as it tells everything you should be teaching your children. I would have given 5 stars except for the fact the inside content is not as nice as the newer printings and it's not as user friendly as some of the others. I would, however, recommend it as it's very helpful to have.saturnpancakes

7. Rain Reign [Book]
Product Details:
From newbery honor author ann m. martin, who wrote the baby-sitters club series, comes a new york times-bestselling middle grade novel about a girl, her dog, and the trials of growing up in a complicated and often scary world. rose howard is obsessed with homonyms. she's thrilled that her own name is a homonym, and she purposely gave her dog rain a name with two homonyms (reign, rein), which, according to rose's rules of homonyms, is very special. not everyone understands rose's obsessions, her rules, and the other things that make her different—not her teachers, not other kids, and not her single father. when a storm hits their rural town, rivers overflow, the roads are flooded, and rain goes missing. rose's father shouldn't have let rain out. now rose has to find her dog, even if it means leaving her routines and safe places to search. “a story about honorable living in the autistic narrator genre that sets the bar high. . . . martin has penned a riveting, seamless narrative in which each word sings and each scene counts.” —kirkus reviews, starred reviewthis title has common core connections.

I read this book as a child and loved it! Some of the passages are still very clear in my mind decades later. This is a fictional account of a boy who runs away from home to live alone in the woods. But the depth of story and the detailed account of his various survival techniques have made many question whether the story was true. Now that I have children of my own, I had to buy the book for them. Its a great book and I highly recommend it!butterrum

This reading program is great! We purchased Bridges Beyond (which is hardcover very nice)and the booklets which are thin but full of good exercises The stories are really fun and informative The vocabulary words are sometimes words that are not used very much but to me it is almost like a history lesson as well One of the words was "chinking" and what a fun day we had looking for "chinked" log homes! We use this curriculum primarily for reading each day but the program is full of other learning concepts I highly recommend this program and we will be using this in the following years as well Thank You

Beautifully illustrated version of this epic tale. A wonderful keepsake for all Harry Potter fans and I can’t wait to complete the set.Maisysmum
I love this book and it was my own fault that I ordered an Ex-Library book. Given that, the listing still had the condition as good and that was not at all what I would have put it under. There is sticker residue all over the book, the corners are curling, the ends of the pages are gross-looking, and there is a big sticker on the back of the front cover. Wont be buying anymore Ex-Library books from here again.josielscott
I found once I started reading the book, I could not put it down. It has much more plot in it than the film did starring Daniel Radcliffe. I enjoyed watching the film, but I enjoyed reading the book even more. The film contains only about a third of what is actually told in the book. However, it is very thick book it is not possible to put everything in it into a 2 hour film.isla.loui

Reviews:
Not the best acting, but it jump started both of the young stars careers. I do like that they followed the book extremely well and it is a perfect companion to the book for the 5-6th graders who have to read it for class. It's definitely a sad story but such a great movie. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much watching this movie as a kid, because it's being main actors were young kids, with minimum acting experience at that time.aubrey.v
I see a land bright and clear And the times coming near When we'll live in this land You and me hand in hand…' Fantasy Jess saw someone move in by the Perkins place. A girl named Leslie introduced herself to Jess and said 'I'm going to be your new neighbor! After Leslie won a race against the fastest boy in school they became friends. One day Leslie and Jess were racing into the woods and they saw a rope swing. Leslie said 'We should build a secret hide out and they called it Terabithia. Then a tragedy occurred. I enjoyed reading this book because it was a easy read. People that like reading about fantasy and adventure will like this book. By Erika Barneserikab
