When I was a young mother in the 70s-80s, this was the book I turned to. It helped me be successful at breastfeeding. It always has a positive tone. Any problem can be overcome or has a solution. I often gave it to others as a baby shower gift. It was a great supplement to La Leche League meetings. I also recommended it to my childbirth education students. Of course, I had one of the earlier editions. Now my daughter is expecting her first baby, and I bought this recent edition for her. It's the best book on nursing your baby out there.tapkat48
I love this book because it has ALL of the answers when it comes to breastfeeding! I recommend this book ESPECIALLY to first time moms, and it makes a GREAT GIFT! Anything by the La Leche League is worth the money!!!….it helped me to survive the first weeks, poor latch on, mastitis, the thrush, and then a weakening of my milk supply around the 4th month….answered my questions to help me correct all of these problems…still going strong! 🙂 I have actually bought this book for three other new moms!!jntsquared

A very useful book for those adopting, fostering, or raising kids without birthing.pipylotta
This book covers all the basics about inducing lactation. It ALSO contains information that would benefit biological nursing mothers too.In my honest opinion EVERY woman should own this book since most women don't even know that they can produce milk WITHOUT pregnancy, even a lot of medical professionals aren't aware of this fascinating process!Even WITHOUT a baby or young child to nurse, producing milk STILL has health benefits for a woman…Even if only a small amount of milk is produced ultimately.EVERY woman should know what her body is able to do whether it's how her reproductive organs work OR it's how her breasts function. This book is a fascinating read for anyoneMal

I wish I could have read this book before my daughters were born. I nursed both of my babies, and had many obstacles each time (daycare, pump-ing issues, cracked nipples, blocked ducts, exhausting cluster feeding, etc.) that I overcame only because I'm stubborn. I feel like many women could benefit from the light-hearted nature of this book, to realize that what they are feeling or are experiencing is completely normal. I bought this book to go with a baby shower gift for my sister, expecting her firstborn. I very much enjoyed this book myself, and think that I will be buying more copies to give with shower gifts. Hopefully the recipients will love it like I do!rena-bee
