3. The Operator: Firing The Shots That Killed Osama Bin Laden And My Years As A Seal Team Warrior [Book]
Product Details:
A stirringly evocative, thought-provoking, and often jaw-dropping account, the operator ranges across seal team operator robert o'neill's awe-inspiring four-hundred-mission career, which included his involvement in attempts to rescue "lone survivor" marcus luttrell and abducted-by-somali-pirates captain richard phillips and which culminated in those famous three shots that dispatched the world's most wanted terrorist, osama bin laden. in these pages, o'neill describes his idyllic childhood in butte, montana; his impulsive decision to join the seals; the arduous evaluation and training process; and the even tougher gauntlet he had to run to join the seals' most elite unit. after officially becoming a seal, o'neill would spend more than a decade in the most intense counterterror effort in us history. for extended periods, not a night passed without him and his small team recording multiple enemy kills–and though he was lucky enough to survive, several of the seals he'd trained with and fought beside never made it home. the operator describes the nonstop action of o'neill's deployments in iraq and afghanistan, evokes the black humor of years-long combat, brings to vivid life the lethal efficiency of the military's most selective units, and reveals firsthand details of the most celebrated terrorist takedown in history.

It changed my entire view on Navy SEALS, and the military in general. This man has become one of my idols, and it is because of this book. I HIGHLY recommend reading this!!!!!!!!Jordyn

I originally came upon this book via Amazon Kindle. I downloaded the sample, read it, and sought out the book. What I read took several factors into play: 5th Edition Essentials formal training, my 1 and 1/2 years as a volunteer, and the training from my officers. Our department is very small and the fire calls are few and far between. But with what I have read (about 6 chapters so far) makes everything come together. The concepts have intrigued my wife that she was having me read some of the items to her. Essentials wouldn't keep her attention like this. Thank you, Mr. Bingham, for taking the fire service and putting concepts into common English terms for the rest of us to understand.kissbeatlebuddy
A fine read. Very impressed. A lot of great information. This book is very basic and informative regarding how to handle things from putting out fires to Incident Command. It is more related to how to be safe and not be lazy and thoughtless during fireground operations and preperation. Everyone should read this book. It is very much for the seasoned veteran and not just the young and new.pgfd862
Great addition to my other Fire textbooksmjd500

Product Details:
Wall street journal bestseller from michael dell, renowned founder and chief executive of one of america’s largest technology companies, the inside story of the battles that defined him as a leaderin 1984, soon-to-be college dropout michael dell hid signs of his fledgling pc business in the bathroom of his university of texas dorm room. almost 30 years later, at the pinnacle of his success as founder and leader of dell technologies, he found himself embroiled in a battle for his company’s survival. what he’d do next could ensure its legacy—or destroy it completely. play nice but win is a riveting account of the three battles waged for dell technologies: one to launch it, one to keep it, and one to transform it. for the first time, dell reveals the highs and lows of the company's evolution amidst a rapidly changing industry—and his own, as he matured into the ceo it needed. with humor and humility, he recalls the mentors who showed him how to turn his passion into a business; the competitors who became friends, foes, or both; and the sharks that circled, looking for weakness. what emerges is the long-term vision underpinning his success: that technology is ultimately about people and their potential. more than an honest portrait of a leader at a crossroads, play nice but win is a survival story proving that while anyone with technological insight and entrepreneurial zeal might build something great—it takes a leader to build something that lasts.

15. Chosen Soldier: The Making Of A Special Forces Warrior [Book]
Product Details:
In combating terror, america can no longer depend on its conventional military superiority and the use of sophisticated technology. in battles such as these, squadrons of billion-dollar bombers and naval fleets mean much less than on-the-ground intelligence and the ability to organize local forces. in chosen soldier, dick couch—a former navy seal widely admired for his books about seal training and operations—offers an unprecedented view of the training of the army special forces warrior. each year, several thousand enlisted men and several hundred officers volunteer for special forces training; less than a quarter of those who apply will complete the course. chosen soldier spells out in fascinating detail the arduous regimen these men undergo—the demanding selection process and grueling field exercises, the high-level technical training and intensive language courses, and the simulated battle problems that test everything from how well they gather operational intelligence to their skills at negotiating with volatile, often hostile, local leaders. green berets are expected to be deadly in combat, yes, but their responsibilities go far beyond those of other special operations fighters; they’re taught to operate in foreign cultures, often behind enemy lines; to recruit, train, and lead local forces; to gather intelligence in hostile territory; to forge bonds across languages and cultures. they must not only be experts in such fields as explosives, communications, engineering, and field medicine, but also be able to teach those skills to others. each and every green beret must function as tactical combat leader, negotiator, teacher, drill sergeant, and diplomat. these tasks require more than just physical prowess; they require a unique mix of character, intelligence, language skills, and—most of all—adaptability. it’s no wonder that the green berets’ training regimen is known as the hardest in the world. drawing on his unprecedented access to the closed world of army special forces training, dick couch paints a vivid, intimate portrait of these extraordinary men and the process that forges america’s smartest, most versatile, and most valuable fighting force.
Reviews:
Been reading alot of the current military stories and have always been fascinated by Special Forces of the US, England's SAS etc. and the training of Snipers, mentally and physically. This book shows you why these soldiers are the elite of our Armed Services. No slouches in those units. This book fits in great with my collection of current military books and gives you a real up close view of the endurance, persistence, and determination of the men and woman who choose and are then picked by the best to Be The BEST. Thank-you to Dick Couch for this informative book and insight to the committment of our troops, soldiers and elite!quick2000x
I have read other books by Dick Couch who is a former Navy SEAL and Honor Man of his SEAL class. The books goes into the backgrounds of these Special Forces candidates as well as the training they undergo which is fascinating..frede-mitch
This was the second copy we have bought. WE loaned out our first and they loved it so much we told them to keep it and got another. Our grandson is going thru special forces at this time and it really helped us to understand what these young men go thru for our freedom. It is well written and so true to what this branch of service is and how it trains our young men. Would recommend it to anyone who has a loved one in the branch of service or who enjoys reading this type of books. Hard to put down once you start reading.barbee11
