I am a lover of reading for pleasure and knowledge and I like to read many different genres in both fiction and non-fiction. I was especially excited to see that a new launch team was being formed for Max Anders's newly revised book of 30 Days to Understanding the Bible and I realized that this was the perfect opportunity for me to learn more about God's Word. I wasn't wrong and I certainly wasn't disappointed with this 30th anniversary expanded edition! At the beginning the author says "…if you want to understand the Bible, you must first learn how the Bible is put together". In the next 381 pages he shares his extensive knowledge of just how it was put together! He has included seven sections devoted to The Story of the Old Testament–The Story of the New Testament–Ten Great Doctrines of the Bible–NanoSummary of the Bible–How to Master the Bible So Well That the Bible Masters You–Teaching Plan and the added Bonus Chapters. At the end of each section there is a summary and a self-test that allows readers to determine just what they have learned and retained. I was thrilled to learn more about the geography and history of both the Old and New Testaments and I especially liked the NanoSummary of the Bible and the Teaching Plan. Anders has written a book that is both comprehensive and easy to understand and I believe that this will be a wonderful resource for my own personal Bible study and in teaching the teens in our church. It also includes references to historical texts existing at the time the bible was written that support the bible as evidence. Well worth the purchase. I am so grateful to have read it. This book was an immense help to me in coming to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. I was over 50 years old before I accepted Jesus as my Lord. Like so many people wrestling with life's problems and questions I had many things which I wanted to know about the truth of Jesus. This book was written by a journalist who started out from an atheist point of view to investigate and disprove the existence & claims of Jesus . Did he really exist ? If so, can we believe his claim to be the Son of God? and did he rise from the dead? Our external fate rests on believing in him – this book brilliantly talks through the doubts many have. Crazy Love is one of the best book I have every read. It shows you what the Bible really says a Christians life should look like. The book is about God showing His love for us by sending His Son Jesus Christ to earth and die for us. Then we respond with a lukewarm lifestyle. Francis Chan shows through scripture that people who claim to be Christians yet live a lukewarm lifestyle will not go to Heaven. We only have one life that we will look back on for all of eternity. Make sure that you are truly saved and are living for Christ. There's nothing more important in life. This book is a must read book. But don't just read it yourself. I bought this book because it was mentioned on the Christian Radio broadcast, Family Life Today. I believe it is a book worth reading, especially if the reader is desiring a more intimate relationship with the LORD. I believe that Francis Chan did his best to convey what God's love for His children is like as well as how we are to respond to that love. However, for reasons I find hard to explain, reading it did not accomplish what I hoped it would. This may be partly due the fact that sometimes I have difficulty remembering what I have read. Also, the fact that I didn't have a human father growing up makes it a challenge for me to completely grasp that love sometimes. Anyway, maybe I need to re-read "Crazy Love" so I can get a better handle on it. I liked his approach by suggesting to the reader to refer to the corresponding video on the Internet to gain a greater sense of what he was trying to convey.brandymiranda817

This is the second one I purchased. The first one was for me. This one was to be sent to my friend for her birthday. When it arrived, I opened the package to be sure that it was the book that I had a copy of. It was, however, when I opened the book, it was very difficult to read. The pages seemed like they were a cheap xerox copy of the original. The pages are bleached white, whereas my original book has pages that have a soothing slightly yellow tint to them. The new book's print is so faded and faint that I had to get my reading glasses to be able to see the words comfortably. I sent the book to her, anyway. I hope she is not as picky as I am with the ease of readability that a book should have. I did not tell her that my copy has much darker print that is much easier on the eyes. Overall, I am not impressed with the quality of this print.jhhome
