Reviews:
My son-in-law was thrilled to have this book.JENNIFER
Having bought this book when we were expecting our first child back in 2018 I found the information invaluable in preparing my partner and I for what lay ahead. Since then I have bought this book as a gift for every single one of my friends that are first time expecting dads. It's been met with praise from each one of them. While it is mainly directed at an American audience, such as information on navigating the American medical system, some of the thoughts are still applicable to a lesser degree to other countries, the author does his best to keep the book international. I highly recommend this book.
2. Dude, You're Gonna Be A Dad!: How To Get (Both Of You) Through The Next 9 Months [Book]

Product Details:
Congrats dude! your go-to-guy-guide to being the greatest dad before her due-date. there are approximately 3,712 ways for a guy to look stupid during pregnancy – this book's here to help you avoid all(most) of them. and here's your first hint: focus on what you can be doing for her rather than what's happening to her. she's pregnant. she knows that. you know that. and her 152 baby books tell her exactly what she can expect. that's where john pfeiffer steps in. like any good coach, he's been through it. he's dealt with the morning sickness and doctor visits, painting the baby's nursery and packing the overnight bag, choosing a name, hospital, and the color of the car-seat cover. all the while he remained positive and responsive – there with a "you're beautiful" when necessary – but assertive during the decision-making process (he didn't want to wind up with a kid named percy). and now it's your turn. she might be having the baby, but you have plenty of responsibilities.

The story of fatherhood and what it means to be a father today, based on a decade-long study of new and expectant fathers. becoming a father is one of most common but also one of the most profoundly life-altering experiences a man can have. it is up there with puberty, falling in love and experiencing your first loss. fifty years ago a father's role was assumed to be clear: he went to work; he provided the pay cheque; and he acted as a disciplinarian when he got home. but today a father's role is much more fluid and complex. dr anna machin has spent the past decade working with new and expectant fathers, studying the experiences of fathers and the questions fathers have: 'will fatherhood change me?', 'how do other men fulfil the role?', 'how can i help my child grow into a healthy, happy adult?'. in the life of dad, dr machin draws on her research and the latest findings in genetics, neuroscience and psychology to tell the story of fatherhood. she will show the extraordinary physiological changes a man undergoes when he becomes a father, investigate how a man's genes can influence what sort of father he will be, and will show how a dad makes a unique contribution to his child's life, helping to foster independence of mind and spirit. throughout the book, readers will encounter the voices of real dads, expectant and established, as well as fascinating insights into fatherhood from across the globe. the life of dad throws out the old stereotypes of fatherhood in an entertaining and informative journey through the role of dad – helping you decide what sort of father you want to be. Reviews:
Well-written, sweet for a baby shower gift. I wish it had more after-birth parenting advice as well, but that's probably in a separate book. Great for first time dads (and moms really). Somewhat small, would fit in a purse or laptop bag etc. It's thick. Cute layout, overall a good buy. I wish I'd been able to give it to my brother earlier as his wife is now 6 months along.Lovemyfam06
This books only strength is the layout week by week through the trimesters but everything else is problematic: the “chummy” writing style, “bro to dad-daycare” themes, and misogynistic and outdated tones throughout. I do not understand why this book is rated so highly. One of the worst books I’ve read in a long time.123
First if all this is a great concept. Moms are not the only ones experiencing Pregnancy for the first time. This little book contains lots of detailed information for Dads that they may not think to ask. Besides the normal details about what the baby is doing week to week, this book includes many other features like what the Mom is going through. It gives good advice on how the Dad should navigate the ups and downs of being pregnant. How to support their partner, what to ask and what not to ask! It gives good lists and timelines to help them prepare the nursery, the home and their lives to be ready. I think this book is very useful yet not over whelming. Just enough information to read for a few minutes each week to be more ready and involved. It even goes on for about 3 months after the baby is born to help guide them through infancy. This was a worthwhile book and it makes a great gift too.Junkpunk

Reviews:
This is a funny and informative look at what you can expect from the time your other half says "I'm pregnant". That is, of course, assuming you want to be involved, which is quite probable since you're obviously researching the subject. I covers all aspects of being a dad, including what to expect during the pregnancy, how to be a good partner to your wife, what to expect when the baby dumps a load in a nappy, sleepless nights, etc. But (and it's a huge but) what you get through Booktopia is the US version. This a book that was written in Australia by an Australia. I understand that Americans don't know what a nappy is so they need to have it translated, or that they break our in a rash when they "centre" spelt the correct way, but I'm in Australia, so I expected the original version. What I got was covered in references to US statistics, websites, associations and government departments which mean nothing to anyone else. The author is also explicit about not being interested in anything that is not legally/religiously married baby-making in the most traditional sense, the way his god intended. He refers to the woman as "your wife" throughout the book and refuses to use the term "partner". If you're not legally married before the eyes of god, apparently this is not for you. So anything involving, for example, same-sex parenting doesn't get a mention (forget surrogacy, and how you can be involved in the process), but not even IVF gets a look in because, apparently if god didn't give you or your wife the ability to conceive the way Adam and Eve did, you're just not quite as important… The bottom line is that I would recommend the book to a future dad, but I would tell them what I didn't like about it too.Gus
I got this for my husband without him knowing because he is not a big reader. Like at all. However he has read this book every night before bed and talks to me about what's going on in the book during dinner or our drives. GET THIS BOOK!ashcody7
This book was very informative but not boring! I thought it was hilarious and taught me a lot about what my wife was dealing with. Definitely a guy book!flsunhockey
