This story is an absolute classic. I bought it to read to my year six students and they are loving it. The story is so well written and on my third reading I am still completely enthralled. A wonderful book to own. I can't recommend it enough!two red hens
I read this book as a child and loved it! Some of the passages are still very clear in my mind decades later. This is a fictional account of a boy who runs away from home to live alone in the woods. But the depth of story and the detailed account of his various survival techniques have made many question whether the story was true. Now that I have children of my own, I had to buy the book for them. Its a great book and I highly recommend it!butterrum
My 9 year old daughter loves this book. She could not put it down! This book is an excellent source of survival tips. It teaches kids to imagine "what if" situations, which prove to be beneficial as they grow into adulthood. I recommend this book to all!mrs.jefferson

Read the book that inspired the choose kind movement, a major motion picture, and the critically acclaimed graphic novel white bird. i won't describe what i look like. whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse. august pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. starting 5th grade at beecher prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid — but his new classmates can't get past auggie's extraordinary face. beginning from auggie's point of view and expanding to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others, the perspectives converge to form a portrait of one community's struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. in a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope. palacio has called her debut novel "a meditation on kindness". indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can't blend in when you were born to stand out. – publisher.

Reviews:
This was a Christmas gift to my 9 year old grandson. Truthfully, he is not a strong reader and a reluctant one. He prefers playing outdoors with his friends. His family saw the movie. He was telling me about the movie and then said, "I would like to read the book." We read the book together every day. He would bring it to me! I helped him with a few words, maybe one on each page. He would quickly turn the page to continue reading it. He has never before brought a book to me. It has been a struggle to get him to read even 10 minutes. This is a great story to share. I highly recommend it.CHERYL
An excellent book with a fantastic story. Children and young adults will love this endearing story. Thinking of differences that do not matter in the end, may prompt many to change their attitudes.
I don't know where to begin with this awe inspiring story! Auggie looks different from everyone else, very few people have what he does. Rather than be shameful, Auggie makes the best of his situation. Even when he got brought the down, he never stayed down for long. Every kid goes through teasing and embarrassment in school. This book emphasizes no matter what people think or say you control your actions and future.Briana

Reviews:
A few years ago I read the first book in this duplex, "out of my mind". It really touched me, and I've reread it tens of times since then. I was so excited when this sequel came out because I wanted to learn what happens to Melody! This book makes me cry and laugh at the same time, and it makes me understand more about the struggles that people with CP and other difficulties have to go through, and it also makes me understand that they are just people, like you and me. I think this book encourages people all around the world to learn more about disabilities, and to accept them as part of life. It isn't anyone's fault if they are born different, it's not something that you can control, and I think this book put it in a really good and much appreciated light.Mads the awesome

Reviews:
I absolutely recommend this book, especially for ESL students. It gives them a chance to catch up on vocabulary for the content areas for the summer. I use this book for summer tutoring and I find it to be very practical, covering all subjects in a manageable quanitity in one self-contained book.CHRISTINE
I am very happy with this book, the content is exactly what I was looking to complement our curriculum. The book is not boring and it doesnt have many repetitions on the same page. My student loves it!paulquinone0
Missing half of 6th grade and navigating 7th grade non-traditionally (wearing a mask) I felt like my 7th grader needed some support prior to moving onto 8th grade. This book has been a great way to stimulate his brain on summer days. It also allows the whole family to get involved through the lessons and activities. We are all having fun with it, and I can feel good about doing my part as a parent to bridge the gap between unforeseen COVID obstacles and my sons education which will impact his life short and long-term.LAURA S.
