Reviews:
Great examples. Easy to learn.michaklesinsk0
Thank you! Would purchase againmisde_29
These books are amazing. They have a lot of vocabulary with example sentences. The sentences also include simple grammar so you can practice those as well. And there’s audio as well! I’m putting all the vocabulary into anki with the sentences and audio. The only thing that’s a little bothersome: they included a red sheet to hide the words. But sometimes theres an explanation underneath the vocabulary and it’s not in red so I sometimes accidentally look at that.Joey P.

Reviews:
I'm not really a fan of textbooks and such, but this is actually a really good grammar book. It has tons of grammar patterns inside, with many natural sentence examples for each one. The more abstract the grammar, the more sentences there are, which is great. The sentences are in Japanese but also have Romaji and English. There's an index for looking up certain grammar points, and also references to similar grammar points for certain ones. You can't go wrong with this book honestly. Perfect for taking along with you somewhere that a phone wouldn't be allowed but you still want to study. Just reading the example sentences alone are great practice, not to mention the great explanations that go along with those unknown grammar points. If it's a grammar book you're looking for, or even just a book for getting in some Japanese practice, you can't go wrong with this one. I don't however, recommend this for just straight up learning Japanese. This is for upper beginner and intermediate learners, or to be used as an additional resource for looking up grammar points in your initial learning journey, IMO.Dawn
I am a beginner in Japanese and this book definitely helps me along the way! I am using in conjunction with Living Language and highly recommend the combination!VIRGINIA

Reviews:
This book is in Japanese. But there is some nice stories inside and they help with learning to read and write the language. Great for self studying the language.class_60008
Most of the words in Japanese have been omitted. For example "Today is June 15th and it is a Sunday morning. Summer is just around the corner" The Japanese reads "は6月15日、の朝です。もうすぐです." Instead of "今日は6月15日で、日曜日の朝です。夏はもうすぐです". If it was one page, I'd understand, but the whole book is like that. Extremely disappointed, but the consolation is that my Japanese is getting better because I can correct the book. Not good if you want to study properly. Hopefully the paper version is not like that.Therese

Reviews:
I have the 2nd edition as well, and I was curious how the authors solved the problem that they put the Jinmeiyou kanjis from the number 2001, and now there are 2136 Jouyou kanji. They not just dropped the Jinmeiyou kanji list, but inserted the new kanjis instead of append, so who has only this 3rd edition will find that the K&K references are not working any more. Except if reference is updated to this edition. The preface is similar to the previous one with minor changes, still gives a short briefing about kanas and kanjis. The kanji list tries to give some system in the kanji order. To those who wants to learn japanese, this book is a must. One thing has to come to terms with: the authors made some simplification in the strokes so the stroke number sometimes less that expected. Typical example is the radical of therelaks_hun
I found the information in this book easy to understand and very through. I am off to a good start in learning to write Japanese characters. I highly recommend this book. I also got "Easy Kanji" and together I am getting a complete understanding and practice guidance on writing.newt3
The book is good for reference just to have around and it's good that this book teaches basic stuff.ches.l
