As a network engineer I found this book to be very informative and full of real-life scenarios. It explains topics well and relates those topics to issues a person in networking could actually see on the job. Since obtaining my Cisco certification I have used this book to help diagnose problems and engineer solutions on the network at work. The revised addition adds a couple more topics than the first addition and I found that to be very helpful. This book is great for anyone already working in or trying to work in the field of networking.obaki69

Reviews:
An Absolutely Fantastic Business Book Matthew Pollard has done it again. He's introduced a simple process/method to achieve success at growing your business; one that's not overwhelming or cliche'. He's accutely aware that traditional methods for sales and now, networking do not work for introverts. He flipped my existing views on networking, by offering a smart, tactical approach. I especially like that he uses solopreneurs for the business cases. I appreciate it that, as a Solopreneur.CJoy
Honored to receive a review copy from HarperCollins Leadership in exchange for genuine feedback. Coming from the 1st book, this has the familiarity and tone that one can easily recognize. The structure, flow, stories… It's so much better, but also very different. While the previous book focuses on the stages within a sales, this talks about not just within the networking event itself but also the preparations leading to one and the best strategies after it. As such, the scope is on another level. Being strategic not only for the main event but also pre- and post-. Matthew has included a rich personal collection of steps and exercises for reader. As with the 1st book, they are simple and deceptively effective, but by no means easy. Covering a wider time-frame, this installment also contains that much more actionable tools. One will really appreciate how Matthew shared stories this time. The stories covered come from such a diverse background with different settings looking for different professional outcomes. It illustrated clearly how the application of the strategies is extensive. When it comes to business, many people can have a hard time understanding and making sense of niching. It's a pleasant surprise how Matthew clarified it in such a concise and quick manner. He talked about what niching down actually is, why it matters (A LOT!), and how and when to do it correctly. Those are well and good, but nothing beats the values and virtues highlighted inside. Matthew is such a huge propagator (and embodiment) of authenticity, kindness, being a giver and always putting the others first. In the world of business and networking, these are rare but deeply appreciated qualities. The best thing? They work in perfect tandem with everything in this book! All in all, this book is absolutely a book recommended wholeheartedly – one that's quickly landing on many top lists and becoming a classic!Wong

I'm new to networking and this book was exactly what I needed. Other books I've tried reading from book stores either assumed I had a strong background in networking or didn't provide enough detail for me to understand how things worked below the surface. This book has it all.kalel5366
Hi, I read this book more than twice and studied most of the subjects in this book more than once. Had two exams in computer science related to this subjects. And this is what I think: What is so good about this book? *—————————————* You don't need to have any networks background. You can find a lot of information about almost all the major things about computer networkings in this book. This book is a complete computer networks overview. My Favorites chapters of this book are *————————–* Chapter 5 THE NETWORK LAYER-> 5.2 ROUTING ALGORITHMS 5.3 CONGESTION CONTROL ALGORITHMS 5.6 THE NETWORK LAYER IN THE INTERNET. Chapter 6 THE TRANSPORT LAYER -> 6.4 THE INTERNET TRANSPORT PROTOCOL: UDP 6.5 THE INTERNET TRANSPORT PROTOCOL: TCP Other Chapters are also great and they talk about: Physical layer, data link layer, MAC medium access control sublayer, The Network Layer, The transport Layer, Application layer, Network security. This book is very good for computer networking wide knowledge, however it does not target a specific subject. The END *—————–* If you find this review helpful please don't forget to press "yes" on the "Was this review helpful?" button. Thanks for reading my review I hope it was helpful.
