Reviews:
Depression has run deep in my family for years. Thank God for a strong grandmother that struggled with it and a strong belief in God but not everybody is that fortunate. I gave this book to a young woman that was struggling with depression. I gave her 3 books, Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace or the Total Money Makeover, Redefining Anxiety, and Debt Free Degree. I think often that simple anxiety is often over played and the fact that he is redefining what anxiety is ….fantastic!OLIVIA H.
I am an emergency medicine doctor so I see a lot of people under very stressful situations. These come to a head in the emergency room many times and this book has become one of my go-to resources to talk through how anxiety can impact patients in so many ways. I loved the message in there debunking the myths that are echoed by so many of my patients. This has resonated well with patients and their families. I truly appreciate a quick-read format resource! Many thanks for this great book! I wish I had cases to give away but I will keep referring people to the podcast and the website to buy their own.Mark B.

I've recently had my first anxiety attack. And in the following month after, I was left feeling extremely anxious about my health and depressed almost at all hours of the day, with fear of no end in sight. Then, searching all across the internet for remedies and solutions, I found this book that was recommended by someone on reddit who dealt with a similar experience. It's amazing how simple and profound this book is. I'm not much of a reader, like at all, but this book felt like it was written specifically for me that it made it effortless to comprehend. I'm still dealing with some anxiety but I'm in totally better shape than I was before reading this book. What is so great about it, is it helps you understand your anxieties and the symptoms it causes, while also offering ways to deal with and accept them. So if you're someone who has been dealing with crippling anxiety, either recently or lifelong, and have felt like nothing will you overcome it, this book is for you. I strongly STRONGLY recommend it.xskyeatsvictorx

Dr. Hart is a gentle and loving man in real life, and this gentleness and concern surely come through in this book. Those of us who have lived with anxiety and panic for years respond to Dr. Hart's gentle manner. This book is written from a Christian viewpoint, and also gives advice from the medical side of things. Anxiety can be cured, but the patient must do certain things for himself, and not expect a magic wand to carry away his illness. Dr. Hart talks about the importance of medication, and the importance of proper breathing, and proper attitudes towards oneself and life in general. I have given away several copies of this wonderful book, hoping those who received it would benefit from it as much as I have. The suggestions here have helped me to life a much more normal life. Prior to this instruction I was in a huge wasteland of fear and anxiety which crippled my life. KUDOS to Dr. Hart !bluemare43

Reviews:
I bought this book to help my 8yo deal with his anxiety which was starting to become a real issue. It is designed to work through over a number of days with your child. The book described the symptoms of anxiety in a language that he clearly understood and could relate to. It helped him to realise his feelings were completely normal and gave us simple strategies to put into practice. It also provided a platform for a special time we put aside each day to acknowledge and discuss the anxiety without building it into a bigger issue. I would recommend this to anyone who has a anxious child.PK
A great help for children who worry. It normalises the problem so that the child knows it is not alone in suffering from anxiety and gives strategies that a child can easily follow. I got this book for a nine year old and it was easily read and understood. I needed to interpret some words because it was written for an American reader and some of the references to activities weren't relevant here such as "sledding". Apart from the few words that didn't fit with the Aust ralian culture, the book was interesting and gave lots of ideas that could be put into practice. It would be even more suitable for children who assist in the garden as the references to growing tomatoes would be more vivid for someone who had experience growing them.Denise_Perth
One of those rare books that is at exactly the right level for both child and parent. Is not only lovely to read together, it presents you with a few key strategies that are easy to understand and implement. It is presented in such a way that the child not only knows what to do, they understand why. The strategies all involve an adult (usually the parent), and as such, provide a wonderful daily bonding session. Cannot recommend highly enough.MissyMac

Reviews:
Nancy Fiore This is my favorite book by Rebekah by far! Rebekah has always been very transparent in her writing style, but this book makes you feel as though you’ve joined a close friend for coffee and a very real conversation about life, messy life! In Rhythms of Renewal, Rebekah outlines four spiritual rhythms that promote renewal: Rest, Restore, Connect, and Create. She provides compelling cases for each and then takes it a step further with very practical suggestions on how to implement each one. More than just a fun, engaging read, Rebekah has created a personal handbook to guide you in taking a personal inventory of where you are in each of these areas, and skillfully provides an inspiring glimpse into the abundance God intends us to walk in. She includes insightful questions at the end of each section which I found extremely helpful in better digesting the material and mapping out specific steps to apply these new rhythms. As a recovering perfectionist, I especially appreciated Rebekah’s willingness to be raw and honest about the various ways we measure ourselves. Rebekah is very relatable and speaks with much wisdom while liberally sprinkling encouraging reminders like “it’s never too late to re-establish what you want your life to be about.” This was an inspiring read and is one of those rare books you will want to come back to again and again to fully digest and process. Highly recommend reading yourself and then reading again with friends.NGFiore
How easy is it to fall out of rhythm in life? Are you walking through a new season or is your soul craving rest? I believe you will find the answers to those questions in this lovely book that reminds us how to walk out what it means to find renewal in the most practical of ways. Just four rhythms – REST, RESTORE, CONNECT & CREATE. The rhythm of RESTORE resonates with me well, as walking is one of those rhythms that brings peace to my restless soul. Rebekah reminds us that, “Walking is critical for the restoration of our mental health, creativity and productivity. When season of grief hit, when I’ve hit a wall with creativity, when I’ve run out of words, the best thing I can do is get out and walk. The movement offers release of control, allows the unforced connections to emerge. It gets my blood flowing, releases endorphins, and lifts my mood. Time and time again, walking brings clarity.” Rebekah’s vulnerability is admirable and comforting. I could relate to many of her life experiences and believe you will, too. Challenge yourself to do the reflection questions at the end of each chapter. I pray that this book will bring spiritual, physical, relational and creative growth!
"Rhythms of Renewal" is both a breath of fresh air and a field manual for cultivating a life of rest. Rebekah is a gifted story-teller and communicator, and her warmth and wisdom captivated me from the very beginning. Throughout the book, Rebekah outlines four rhythms (Rest, Restore, Connect, and Create) to encourage us to cultivate a life of peace and purpose. Beautiful stories from her personal journey are woven with scripture, helping us connect our own stories with God's story and accept the invitation to a life of freedom and rest that Jesus offers. The book is packed with biblical wisdom, personal insight, practical ideas, and thought-provoking questions. As someone who has battled fear along my own journey, I found so much truth in her words: "God knew that as long as fear lives in our hearts, we'd lived crippled lives." Rebekah is honest and vulnerable as she shares the personal struggles she has faced along her journey. She gives us a beautiful picture of the rest and peace available to us and encourages us to cultivate rhythms that allow God to breathe life into our souls. She gently reminds us that "You cannot heal what is hidden," and invites us to accept God's invitation to bring our guilt and shame out of the dark and into the Light through confession, release and forgiveness. Thought-provoking questions in each chapter make this book a practical tool for reflection and diving deeper with God. "Rhythms of Renewal" has practical application for every season of life, and I will be returning to it often and making it a part of my own personal retreats. Rebekah's words have been a gift to my soul, and I can't wait to share the blessing by giving a copy to my friends.BoyMomReview

17. The Woman Who Cracked The Anxiety Code: The Extraordinary Life Of Dr Claire Weekes [Book]

Product Details:
Panic, depression, sorrow, guilt, disgrace, obsession, sleeplessness, low confidence, loneliness, agoraphobia… claire weekes knew how to treat them, but was dismissed as underqualified and overly populist by the psychiatric establishment. in a radical move, she had gone directly to the people. her international best seller hope and help for your nerves, first published in 1962 and still in print, helped tens of millions of people overcome all of these, and continues to do so. weekes pioneered an anxiety treatment that is now at the cutting edge of modern psychotherapies. her early explanation of fear, and its effect on the nervous system, is state of the art. psychologists use her method, neuroscientists study the interaction between different fear circuits in the brain, and many psychiatrists are revisiting the mond-body connection that was the hallmark of her unique work. face, accept, float, let time pass: hers was the invisible hand that rewrote the therapeutic manual. this understanding of the biology of fear could not be more contemporary–"acceptance" is the treatment du jour, and all mental health professionals explain the phenomenon of fear in the same way she did so many years ago. however, most of them are unaware of the debt they have to a woman whose work has found such a huge public audience. this book is the first to tell that story, and to tell weekes' own remarkable tale, of how a mistaken diagnosis of tuberculosis led to heart palpitations, beginning her fascinating journey to a practical treatment for anxiety that put power back in the hands of the individual."–back of book.
