Reviews:
Being 40 with lots of work and home commitments this book allows me to change the way I organise myself. Simple things that no one really tell you but should be obligatory at school level to ease your grownup lifethomas.j.p
TLDR: Our brain is not made for dealing with multiple complex projects or for keeping track of meetings, deadlines, to-do and shopping lists etc. To not get stressed or overwhelmed by modern life, you need to set up an "external brain": a system you can trust to keep all this info AND remind you of it when YOU need it to. The book helps you create such a system. David's system lets you capture the dozens or hundreds of small and large to-dos going on in your life, decide what to do with them, review it from time to time and act based on them so that you can trust yourself that any moment you are doing what you should be doing (and not feel anxious about what you're NOT doing). It's the kind of book one re-reads every few years to get more and more out of it. While he says the whole system takes a couple of years to became habitual in your life, you can get a lot of mileage from doing small bits of it right away. Frankly, I'm somewhat pissed it's not taught in school or that no one before had told me about it (it first came out around the turn of the century). Anyway, but it, read at least the first two chapters and start making it into a life habit as you read the rest of it.pstefanics
This is a very informative book in helping you sort out your time management and cleaning your mental mind. The updated version has a lot of new methods of managing tasks such as doing it online, new programs and tasks on computers etc which might be useful to an older audience, but as a millennial brought up in the internet age, it was not very useful to re-read things we were raised to use. I found around 15% of the information in this book useful, but 85% of it was repetitive and general information that (I assume) people already know. The bottom-line: Wouldn't hurt to read if you wish to further educate yourself on task management, but a lot of the things stated in this book can be found online.Jono

3. Getting Things Done: The Art Of Stress-Free Productivity [Book]

Product Details:
The book lifehack calls "the bible of business and personal productivity."" a completely revised and updated edition of the blockbuster bestseller from 'the personal productivity guru'"—fast companysince it was first published almost fifteen years ago, david allen’s getting things done has become one of the most influential business books of its era, and the ultimate book on personal organization. “gtd” is now shorthand for an entire way of approaching professional and personal tasks, and has spawned an entire culture of websites, organizational tools, seminars, and offshoots. allen has rewritten the book from start to finish, tweaking his classic text with important perspectives on the new workplace, and adding material that will make the book fresh and relevant for years to come. this new edition of getting things done will be welcomed not only by its hundreds of thousands of existing fans but also by a whole new generation eager to adopt its proven principles.
Reviews:
Words like "groundbreaking," "landmark," and "revolutionary" don't normally apply to self-help books, but of all the books that could be classified as self-help manuals, this is one of the three I would recommend to nearly anyone. Here David Allen lays out a complete, concise schematic of a productivity system that puts everything in the right place. Any of the principles in GTD will work to some degree in isolation, but what this book does is organize them into a wholistic system for what Allen calls "self-management." Do you have a dozen things on your mind, like "get cat food" or "talk to Bob about the mail room situation," that you need to do but can't do at the moment? GTD (the popular acronym for "Getting Things Done") provides a guide for how to get all those to-do items out of your conscious and into a place where you'll still have them when you need them. Allen has said of his book that it requires several reads to fully understand, but understanding it is worth all the trouble and more. The reward is organization coupled with flexibility, as well as the ability to maintain them over time.liamandjessie
David understands why keeping it in your head doesn't work to get things done. Think of an all-day seminar in one book. His first book changed how I looked at my work. And I've customized his approach to fit my work and home life. Plus, it's an ongoing process, it's not rigid, it's flexible.mannlm13

I bought it because my son's employer asked him to read this book as a condition of employment. I have a job that is full of detail, as a researcher, and I am always looking for better time management techniques. I bought the audio, abridged version. I listened to it 3+ times, and found it to be excellent. He has a system that is based on "the next action" that I found efficient and simple. Filing system also helpful. It’s nice but there is not enough info in the description I thought it was for an entire year but it’s only for two monthscheyenne
I didn't realise this planner has no dates, and no whole month calendar. It's designed so that you can start at any time and unused pages won't be wasted. It's a productivity planner not a calendar/diary. Also note one planner only lasts 60 days. But don't overlook this for a productivity tool, it is very well done and I will be coming back again and again. Watch the YouTube reviews for better idea of what's in it.Shell Bell

I think this book is amazing! Busyness is a growing issue in our communities. There are far too many errands to contend with, and mismanaging time can lead to burnout, exhaustion, and no energy. We are more busy than ever before contending with multiple tasks, some of which turn into long term problems from once simply being an issue. It is taxing and toxic, and can lead to misunderstandings and breakdowns in family life. I highly recommend this book , and Shaa Wasmund is a fantastic writer, and understands this topic very well.abzjo-27

14. The Time-Block Planner: A Daily Method Of Deep Work In A Distracted World [Book]

Product Details:
Time blocking is a time management method long used by some of the world's most effective people, from elon musk to bill gates, and promoted by some of the smartest thinkers in productivity, from peter drucker to benjamin franklin. its core idea is that a task list is not enough to make the most of your limited time. you should instead partition your working hours into blocks assigned to specific activities. in doing so, you can more easily protect hours for deep work, while batching shallow tasks into efficient sprints. the clarity of these blocks also encourages you to focus intensely on one thing at a time, resisting the distracting allure of inboxes, social media, and idle web surfing. the time-block planner opens with an introduction from newport to guide you through the basics of effective time blocking. ninety days' worth of time-blocking pages follow, each divided into a grid that simplifies both building daily schedules and easily updating them as circumstances change. weekly planning pages supplement the daily planning pages, each including a big idea about productivity from newport, inspiring you to think deeply about the week ahead. a "shutdown" box sits at the top of each page so you can physically and psychologically end your workday with a check of the box–a ritual widely employed by many of newport's longtime readers.
