1. Elements Of Law [Book]

Product Details:
This casebook is ideal for any introduction to law or legal method course. it is designed to develop analytic, interpretive, and advocacy skills that will be helpful to students across the range of substantive courses, while also encouraging students to think critically about the judicial process and the role of judges in a democracy. the second edition of elements of law significantly reworks and updates the first edition, which was published in 1994, while preserving the essential features and many of the principal cases from that edition. this edition is more compact than its predecessor because the lengthy materials on jurisprudence have been eliminated. thus, half of the book is devoted to the common law and half to statutory interpretation.

4. The Bramble Bush: The Classic Lectures On The Law And Law School [Book]

Product Details:
For over seventy years, there has been one book that law students have read to prepare for what they were about to encounter. that book is the bramble bush. after all these years and many imitators, the bramble bush remains one of the most popular introductions to the law and its study.llewellyn introduces students to what the law is, how to read cases, how to prepare for class, and how justice in the real world relates to the law. although laws change every year, disputes between people haven't altered all that much since llewellyn first penned the bramble bush, and the process of moving from private dispute to legal conflict still follows the patterns he described.moreover, the steps of a legal dispute, from arguments to verdict, to opinion, to review, to appeal, to opinion have changed little in their significance or their substance. cases are still the best tools for exploring the interaction of the law with individual questions, and the essence of what law students must learn to do has persisted. if anything, many of the points llewellyn argued in these lectures were on the dawning horizon then but are in their mid-day fullness now.

Awesome and nice and quick responderitsti6366
I purchased this book to help with the pre-law school jitters. This was an excellent book. Well written, witty, full of advice. I'm not sure that I'll do everything recommended, but it does offer ideas and suggestions that at least got me thinking. Some of the advice was awesome (like the information folder), some was a bit confusing (like using multiple colors of highlighters to brief). Once I begin law school this fall, I'm sure more if it will make sense. All in all, a good read and well worth the cost of the book and shipping.painted-roses

17. Getting To Maybe: How To Excel On Law School Exams [Book]

Product Details:
Professors fischl and paul explain law school exams in ways no one has before, all with an eye toward improving the reader's performance. the book begins by describing the difference between educational cultures that praise students for "right answers," and the law school culture that rewards nuanced analysis of ambiguous situations in which more than one approach may be correct. enormous care is devoted to explaining precisely how and why legal analysis frequently produces such perplexing situations. but the authors don't stop with mere description. instead, getting to maybe teaches how to excel on law school exams by showing the reader how legal analysis can be brought to bear on examination problems. the book contains hints on studying and preparation that go well beyond conventional advice. the authors also illustrate how to argue both sides of a legal issue without appearing wishy-washy or indecisive. above all, the book explains why exam questions may generate feelings of uncertainty or doubt about correct legal outcomes and how the student can turn these feelings to his or her advantage. in sum, although the authors believe that no exam guide can substitute for a firm grasp of substantive material, readers who devote the necessary time to learning the law will find this book an invaluable guide to translating learning into better exam performance.
