It truly is positive guidance at it's best and can change lives just from one read.
This is a book on self esteem, a concept which Branden describes as the immune system of our consciousness and mental health. With his interpretation, he couldn't be more correct. It is a comprehensive masterpiece explaining both the what, why and the how of strong self-esteem. Currently my favourite book of all time.

"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" I like the approach the author has taken with this subject of Self-esteem. It is not about trying to establish formulas or good ideas for improved self-esteem. Instead, the author dives deep into the reasons we are worthy and warrant new beginnings. By setting this initial and critical foundation of worth, we, as the reader, can be more receptive to the healing concepts later discussed in this book. I especially appreciate the perspective of value based on WHO we are, found in Chapter 5. Here the author discusses our importance because God chose to create us and place us here and at this time. Our worth is in God, not what we achieve or fail to achieve. Failure often leaves us a feeling of no value, and for those who perhaps measure their value based on good works or failure, success and self-worth are forever fleeting. This chapter was incredibly encouraging because of the mere fact we can unconditionally feel success or self-worth because God chose to create us. Everything else is fulfilling the calling we are privileged to fulfill. It is about exploring life and discovering the purpose God has chosen us to accomplish. Our worth is in our existence and being obedient to God's call on our life and not proving ourselves to some cultural definition of success. I love the reminder and shift in my perspective of where my self-worth comes from through this chapter. This verse has a much deeper meaning to me, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." ~ Psalm 139:14 (NIV). Majesty and Marvelous. Wow. Two words I have never imagined to claim as part of my life. While all chapters have profoundly impacted me as a reader, I found tremendous depth and meaning from Chapter 11. To allow the concept of our humanity as having majesty to resonate… how can I not be filled with humility, confidence, and desire that I am chosen, and I am created with marvelous capabilities. The author powerfully reminds us of our very essence as being immense beyond words and measure. Just wow. Think about that. If I sit with this and meditate on the majesty of who I am to God, I find it near impossible to wage war on myself… How can I do battle with the Creator? We are fearfully and wonderfully made. I can not begin to articulate all the reasons this book has been so profoundly impactful to me. And even further, a resource, a tool to assist the many in my life who struggle with self-esteem. This book has served as a reminder, refreshment, encouragement, and abundant with "tools" that are mightier than any culturally appealing formula to healthier self-esteem. This is the third book I purchase as a gift. Jordan Peterson tells it as it is in how one should behave to be a functional human being in society. This is sadly supposed to be the role of parents but not many parents nurture their kids anymore by teaching them the basic life skills. I've seen so many young people can't keep their own room organised yet trying to solve the world's most complex problem. Let's keep it to basic – stand up straight, make yourself better than who you are yesterday and clean up your room before you try to solve any life's complex problem. I definitely recommend this to someone who wants to go to therapy but can’t because of insurance or other reasons. If you’re dedicated, this book will help. At least a little. I go to therapy and I’m also on a DBT group (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and about 98% of this book is things I’ve learned throughout my journey. I bought this recently because of a lot of trauma the past few years and I feel like I need to do something to help myself too. And this book is great!
