I just started the workbook. Its not the most attention grabber but it works. what I like about the book is that it makes u think about things you normally wouldnt ask your self. All self help is good if you ask me. Its a good buy. if u actually do the work sheets. It provides u with the most basic care plan that is essential to mental health and fitness. Questions you never think about on your own and you answer them and realize how you view things.juicyninja
2. 12 Rules For Life: An Antidote To Chaos [Book]
Product Details:
#1 national bestseller #1 international bestsellerwhat does everyone in the modern world need to know? renowned psychologist jordan b. peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research.humorous, surprising and informative, dr. peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.what does the nervous system of the lowly lobster have to tell us about standing up straight (with our shoulders back) and about success in life? why did ancient egyptians worship the capacity to pay careful attention as the highest of gods? what dreadful paths do people tread when they become resentful, arrogant and vengeful? peterson journeys broadly, discussing discipline, freedom, adventure and responsibility, distilling the world's wisdom into 12 practical and profound rules for life. 12 rules for life shatters the modern commonplaces of science, faith and human nature, while transforming and ennobling the mind and spirit of its readers.
Reviews:
I have just ordered two more copies, after only reading the intro.—and Prof. Peterson's numerous interviews simply expand my own heart. In this climate of high anxiety and appalling lack of compassion, echoed by Hugh MacKay in AUSTRALIA REIMAGINED. It is no wonder that he has an enthralled audience of millions, world- wide. My wish is that Prof. Peterson will produce a primer affirming our children and youth, to give them hope— for our learning young to master before they get to our Uni's. that have to do their own serious reflecting. In my opinion. AND to give our valiant teachers stronger morale and endurance—as so vividly depicted in Gabbie Stroud's TEACHER, also published last year. Finally, the more I devour of the Prof.'s 'Rules' the more I want to yell my rental's roof off , in agreement—our kids CAN be brought up in a far better world, if we follow Jordan's example of such raw courage and exemplary scholarship and teaching. I only wish that I could buy another 12 copies to share around !KCKLL
This is the third book I purchase as a gift. Jordan Peterson tells it as it is in how one should behave to be a functional human being in society. This is sadly supposed to be the role of parents but not many parents nurture their kids anymore by teaching them the basic life skills. I've seen so many young people can't keep their own room organised yet trying to solve the world's most complex problem. Let's keep it to basic – stand up straight, make yourself better than who you are yesterday and clean up your room before you try to solve any life's complex problem. You will be more content and happier in life and no longer feeling depressed all the time. Great for both men, women and anyone. I'm a woman who loves this book. This book has changed my life!!This book changes my life
An excellent book written with great depth and understanding about living a life. It is necessary to read at least twice to get a more complete picture of what Peterson is on about. Best of all this book made me think deeply about living a life and the ultimate ending of that life. Highly recommended but only to serious readers and certainly not for shallow thinking people.Bob

Reviews:
I read this via my public library. I liked it so much , I purchased it for my book shelf. We as a species are on autopilot and this book explains why. Humans understand most body systems and their operations. Very little is known of our minds and the difference between it and our brains. After reading this book, your daily thoughts and desires will take on a whole new outlook.2knives1*
Psychology book in which common sense is presented as psychobabble and jargon then dispensed as science and new discoveries or "insights" into the way people think. For example the presentation of "prospect theory", in which someone's decision making process between two variables is found to be a function of what they are comparing. Such as the choice between getting a million dollars for sure or a 25% chance of getting four million, is found to be different for someone who already has ten million, compared to someone who has nothing. This can be summed up in the simple common sense phrase "It's all relative", with no need to research or explain or needlessly develop "new" behavioural theories. Then the equally absurd "theory induced blindness" in which a researcher develops a theory and can't see things any other way. A classic case of someone not being able to see the wood for the trees. Even the main premise of the book as referred to in it's title is simply about instinctive (fast) and considered (slow) thinking. It goes on and on in the same vain for over four hundred pages without offering a single new insight which could not be encapsulated by a simple common sense couplet or well known idiom or proverb. This cannot be disguised by the author's chatty and self-effacing writing style in which his familiarity with us and occasional pretension of doubt of his own theories is another manipulative tool used so we can forgive our "friend" for his true but rehashed drivel and jargonisation. Not only that, but such insights, rather than being of use to humanity, or adding to the sum of human knowledge, are useful only to the worst and most cynical and untrustworthy type of manipulative psychologists; the marketeers, advertisers and salesmen.cgodbol

Amazing book… simple and easy to read. You cannot stop! Super recommended.Hildarod
I have never conaidered myself a fearful person and when I became aware of this book I was very curious. Especially after watching a bit of Michelle and realizing the connection to her 100 day challenge which I had been aware of. Then this beautiful book arrived I couldn't stop. The layout is creative and quirky and Michelle's enthusiasm pours from the pages!!! I found myself nodding along and underlining so many points she made and realizing I have underlying fears that held me back and her steps to working through these are very eye opening. The pages have colorful quoted and interactive parts so I appreciated not having to pull out a journal or notebook but instead could make new yes within the chapters. I even read parts to my kids and they loved the fanciful look to the pages and I feel like this book can be beneficial for all ages. We are never too old to make life changes and never too young to start living fearlessly! I'm so inspired by Michelle's words, attitude and actions; we need more positive thinkers like her to shine her light!! I received an advanced copy from Sourcebooks Publishing and these are my own thoughts and opinions.Hayl

7. The Road Less Traveled, Timeless Edition: A New Psychology Of Love, Traditional Values And Spiritual Growth [Book]
Product Details:
Reviews:
The author, Dr. Peck, says it like it is. The most helpful idea he presents is that we as adults have to become dedicated to reality. This is not easy. We all have some kind of bias. We all distort reality. We all are excellent at self deceit, which is why dedication to reality is difficult and most important. Far too many people are closed minded. Dr. Peck says we need to be mapmakers. The terrain of life changes all the time. Instead of putting Gideon Bibles in motel rooms, they need to put this book.fourseas-31

Some of this stuff is pretty simple, even bordering on common sense (get regular sleep, exercise, eat well), which can be off-putting if you need to have a special reason to have low self-esteem. It's a practical book and I recommend it for people who want to do something about the way they feel rather than just ruminate over it.Erin

I bought it as complimentary reading for my business. It really opens our eyes to things that otherwise seem common sense but we tend to overlook. I am really enjoying the book and am looking forward to reading the rest of it. The DVD that comes with it contains short films to help illustrate the points the author is trying to make. I would recommend it to all!!shortyie75

New york times bestselling author greg gutfeld wants to be your new guru, and he hates himself for it. before greg gutfeld was a fox news star and a new york times bestselling author, he was a self-help writer for health magazines who had no idea what he was talking about. but now, after years of experience, he finally feels qualified to guide people on the journey of life–call this book punishment for his sins, and a huge reward for you! in the plus, greg teaches you how to brainwash yourself into better behavior, retaining the pluses in your life and eliminating the minuses. his approach to self-help is simple, and perfect for cynics; it's not about positive thinking in the short term, it's about positive being in the long term. with tough love and more than a little political incorrectness, he delivers sage wisdom such as: -if you aren't getting happier as you're getting older, you're doing it wrong. -resist the media's command to expand destructive narratives. -if you're in the same place you were three years ago, wake up. -don't tweet when drinking. modern life grows emptier and emptier as society becomes increasingly polarized, and even those who don't subscribe to new age beliefs are seeking comfort and meaning. in the plus, greg shows how skeptics too can advance themselves for the betterment of their lives and the healing of their communities.
