Reviews:
I first encountered PON in 2006 and started reading it then. Once you read this book you can't go back to your old ways of being, well you can but you are not "unaware" any longer so it makes it hard to live in the old way you are used to. I struggled with it as all who start reading do, It plants a seed and with your cooperation it grows. You will struggle with it as all do, some people more then others, then with cooperation, determination and consistency your world changes. You're view points of the world change, the way you deal with challenging people and situations changes. You are now cooperating with life and life is able to now help you. I also found doing around 10 minutes of meditation at the start of my day gets me "dialed in" to practice living in the now all day long. I was a total mess in 2006, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. But it's 2018 and I'm the healthiest I've ever been cause of Echkart Tolle and his books. I'm ontop of the world, and I'm at peace with life, It's down right Awesome! Buy It! It's the best thing you can do for yourself and those around you. Also buy "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle and "Miltons Secret" he wrote it for children. Enjoy this book and learn to enjoy life!.usa_emporium
I have offered this book to twelve personal friends (thus far….) Three of them, without communicating with the other individuals, have come to me and said that it was, "the best gift anyone (inside or outside of their family) has ever given to them." I had nothing to do with the book – but continue to feel that I am pointing folks in the right direction. If you're reading this – you were supposed to… I hope this note / book will help you too.lfhunt1
I will preface my review by saying that these type of books are generally very polarizing: either you love it because the message speaks clearly to your heart, or you're compelled to prove it inaccurate because it does not. Having said that, I truly love this book because it has the special ability to always put me in that state of amazement whenever I read it. I have read it beginning to end, but I really use it to help me enter the 'now' by reading just a few passages. For me, it does not matter which passage, I can literally open any page and read a few lines, and I am there. Even thinking about this book relaxes my mind and puts me in that state. For that, I consider it very special. This is probably the 5th or 6th copy I am buying, because I keep giving them away. I don't claim that this is the only book that can do such a thing, but it does for me. I can also totally understand if you think it's a bunch of crap, but I can't deny what it does for me, and maybe in the end that's truly what's important.omni_deals

Reviews:
I bought this thinking it would be great but I am a King James person and the main scriptures from this are from the Amplified Bible. I love The book Battlefield of the Mind so was excited to get this. I probably won't use it and was very disappointed to find it wasn't the King James version. This is just like a calendar that you would set on your desk and each day tear off the one you used the day before.marysvintageshop

In theory it sounds easy but if you've been ill for ages implementing it is tricky! Gets your brain going and you need to be a bit open minded, but if you've bought it then it suggests you are already looking for some answers to issues in your life. Over thinking things (past and future) is the problem but this makes you think also! Hopefully I'll get the hang of it eventually! Voice and delivery can sound a little dry on the CD (don't fall asleep) but it's all useful information for life.ltrl
Anyone who has a desire to improve their life should most likely start on the inside… inside themselves. The path is not difficult, but it takes time. In my opinion, time well spent. Eckhart Tolle has boiled spirituality, the path to enlightenment and the next evolutionary step for human kind down to a followable process. However, this process must become a way of life. Again, my opinion is that in order for something so deep and foreign to our mental makeup to become integrated and practiced as a habit or way of life it has to be repeatedly instilled. Reading a book once can not do this. And few of us have time to read The Power of Now enough to integrate the learning. The answer is cds. Play them repeatedly and often. Instill the Power of Now. Live it. Become enlightened. What better way to in-joy this lifetime?gryphonprojects
I LOVE this!! I bought this copy for a friend. I've had my copy for about 8 years and there are tracks I've literally listened to dozens of times. I have learned SO much that has helped me stay in the Now, let go of much of my mind chatter, and live a life with much, much less anger and hurt. I CANNOT recommend this more highly.michaelflyinghamsters

Whitney has spelled out in a good way the various disciplines of the Christian life that help us to life a dependent on God and illustrating why the disciplines are important, showing how each one will help you grown in godliness, and offering practical suggestions for cultivating them on a long-term basis. I think that this goes beyond Richards Fosters book on the disciplines.luca457

Reviews:
Faith building, encouraging life words, I am barely beginning to apply these lessons to living a life honorably and loving God with all my heart. God will keep me on track and by His Holy Spirit I will one day stand complete in His presence. A time consuming book, one to share with others!Rita H.
Rick Warren's book was for years simply a concept that I used by simply "ideizing" the title for "doing things on purpose" to meet a goal of good results. As I've gotten older, I have been becoming more of a Bible reader and a Church goer. Rick really delivers a multi-purpose toolkit with this excellent book. So far, I been using it as a daily reflections, a random study kit, and a source of inspirational ponder. (It's suggested as a "narrative through" as it were)diontheon21
I really enjoyed this book! I even had the study guide which was a nice touch. I am a reborn Christian and this gave me a lot of things to think about an craving to now look into. I never realized how important it is to have a great fellowship to be apart of and how important it is to have an amazing accountability partner. Rick Warren put his words out amazing that I didn't want to put this book down. What on Earth Am I Here For? Expanded Edition (The Purpose Driven Life)ashley .j
7. Get Out Of Your Head: Stopping The Spiral Of Toxic Thoughts [Book]

Product Details:
New york times bestseller – over one million copies sold! you can choose hope in the midst of chaos. the visionary behind the million-strong if:gathering challenges you to exercise your god-given power to shift negative thinking patterns and take back control of your thoughts and emotions. “a must-have resource for anyone looking to get control of their thoughts.”—lysa terkeurst, #1 new york times bestselling author and president of proverbs 31 ministrieschristian book award finalist – named one of the best books of the year by cosmopolitanare your thoughts holding you captive? i’ll never be good enough. other people have better lives than i do. god couldn’t really love me. as she discovered in her own life, god built a way for us to escape that downward spiral. in get out of your head, jennie inspires and equips us to transform our emotions, our outlook, and even our circumstances by taking control of our thoughts. it starts in your head. and from there, the possibilities are endless.
Reviews:
Paul instructs us to "Take every thought captive." It is not a mere suggestion but a requirement for us because if we do not, we fill our minds with toxic thoughts. Once we begin filing our minds with toxic thoughts, we are no longer to live in the freedom God has created for us. We no longer look or act as if we are the light. Jennie Allen uses her own experience to help the reader demolish strongholds and retrain our minds. We have a choice to continue to believe the lie or walk in the truth. Using scientific research and the Bible, Jennie reveals some choices we can make in our thinking. I was grateful for the easy read with scripture and authenticity. I felt like I was sitting down with Jennie Allen as she was sharing her story and welcoming me to tear down the strongholds in my life without judgement or comparison. I am anxious to share the book with others including my daughter and husband.A Book A Day
I don't write a lot of reviews, in fact this may be my first one ever. But. This. Book. This book has been life changing and is something I can see myself reading over and over again. It's wisdom that's grounded in God's word and born out of life experience. Jennie approaches this topic as someone who has been in the fight and understands the battle. She reaches out with love and grace but doesn't hold back on the important truths we need to hear. Jennie's personality and love for her readers shines through in every chapter. But, the best part is that it's PRACTICAL! Jennie doesn't just tell you what the Bible says about our thoughts and minds she gives you ideas and frameworks about how to move forward and actually apply these truths to your life. I'm not talking just a little bit of practical help – it is well over half the book and it is all pure gold. There is even a special note to people truly struggling with mental illnesses at the start of the book that I couldn't appreciate more. This is a book you could truly give to anyone at any level of struggle in the mental arena! I really couldn't recommend it any more highly. If you only read one book this year – this is the one. Be sure to buy two because you will no doubt want to share this with a friend.SBethel
While this book may have been written with a female audience in mind, I cannot think of anyone, male or female, who would not benefit from reading this book. We may be very familiar with these words from Romans 12:2, "Be transformed by the renewal of your mind," and these from 2 Corinthians 10:5, "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ," Jennie Allen breaks down the practical application of these verses. As a teacher I encouraged my students to be metacognitive, to think about their thinking, in order to improve their comprehension. Allen encourages us to do this as well, but for the purpose of grasping God's truth rather than the enemy's lies, for applying truth to our situations rather than sinking into the darkness that comes from believing lies designed to destroy. I cannot emphasize enough that this book teaches practical application, not theory that leaves us wondering what to do next. It is specific enough to lead, but general enough to apply to each of our individual lives and situations. I am very grateful to Jennie Allen for being willing to share her own struggles and the path that lead her to spiritual and emotional health, as well as to Multnomah for providing me with a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review, and received no monetary compensation.Grams
8. Spiritual Direction: Wisdom For The Long Walk Of Faith [Book]
Product Details:
Henri nouwen—beloved author, priest, and internationally recognized spiritual master, counselor, and guide—offers gentle wisdom for universal questions of the spiritual life:who am i? where have i been and where am i going? who is god for me? where do i belong? how can i be of service? as a priest, pastor, and professor of spirituality at notre dame, yale, and harvard, nouwen offered spiritual direction to many students, but his famous course on spiritual direction was never recorded during his lifetime. now, in spiritual direction, the first of a series, one of nouwen's students (michael christensen) and one of his editors (rebecca laird) have developed his courses and practice of spiritual direction into a book of profound wisdom for living a deep spiritual life.
Reviews:
excellent book full of useful guidelinesobadiah12valerie
It's important to note that Nouwen did not write this book in its present form: it is his course in spiritual direction supplemented by unpublished writings and put together by two of his longtime students. Having said that, however, the book is a delight. I have just begun a spiritual director's formation course and am finding it both useful and stimulating. It's well up to the standard of his other books that I've read. It is divided into three sections: look within to the heart, look to God in the Book and Look to others in community. Its main concern is laying the ground for spiritual direction to take place, so it is useful both for the seeker and the director. If you find Nouwen's writing speaks to you, you will enjoy this book.
Thanks for an old book I thought I wouldn't be able to fine thankscrem3467

In my view there was an excessive amount of words used to get the message across. The main message could have been writen in a chapter rather than a book.Peter

Reviews:
I think Christians want to thrive in their spiritual lives. But there are obstacles and pitfalls that make growing spiritually at times difficult. Sometimes experiences are hard to understand and we wonder where God is in our lives. Sometimes we are just at a loss as to the next step in spiritual and emotional growth. The Gaultieres have developed a model of the stages of faith, drawing from their years of providing therapy and spiritual direction, along with extensive research and field testing. They give the characteristics of and insights into each stage, relating personal experiences and information from other authors. They suggests steps to grow, soul care practices, and spiritual disciplines to help move to the next stage. They provide questions so readers can identify what stage they are in. I appreciate this book. It helped me identify my spiritual stage and explained many of my past spiritual experiences and current spiritual longing. I appreciate that spiritual growth is not linear but moves like a spiral, going through the various phases at a deeper level each time. The insight I appreciated the most was distinguishing desolation (spiritual experience of feeling God's absence) and depression (a psychological problem). While they can affect each other, I appreciate that they are not the same. Those who have experienced the Dark Night will also appreciate the distinction. Another appreciated insight was about the last stage and the information on being a mystic. The Gaultieres draw much from classic devotional authors, like Madame Guyon, Teresa of Jesus (Avila) and Frank Laubach who wrote about the deep experience of union with Christ. This is a good book for Christians who want to understand their own spiritual life while gaining insights on the spiritual lives of others. There are resources available, such as small group leader's guide and free videos at the Soul Shepherding site.bookwomanjoan
A well written and structured book that looks at faith development. It draws on a variety of approaches and indeed had a superb table at the end that compares them. Basing the book on psalm 23, giving appropriate credit to Dallas Willard, and using the acronym CHRIST this book is a helpful read for anyone involved in ministry and spiritual accompaniment or just interested in finding out more about patterns of faith. Although written from a western faith viewpoint and not looking at gendered approaches to faith development the approach it uses seems to enable space for all.Rhona K.

This book will open your eyes to what's actually happening around us and inside us. It's not too heavy reading which can sometimes be the case with Deepak but his books are nevertheless compelling. This book can be picked up and read from any chapter and I really enjoyed it.dlaw9600
A book of effectively 7 chapters that will change the way you live and think. I would compare it to 'The Tardis', it's a small book on the outside but inside is a whole universe to discover about yourself and the way you choose to live your life.i-was-only-jooking

Reviews:
This is a fantastic book for those who would like to work on their personal/spiritual development. I found the explanations very clear and phrased beautifully. Akin to the books by Doreen Virtue. It can be used as a three week course or worked through at an individual basis. It was so good I bought another for a friend and she loved it too. A very special book
This is book three of a series by Sanaya Roman. You can read it by itself, but it does help if you've read the other first two books. As you read it, the material will seem as if you already know it-just forgotten it in the business of life. The writing is very easy to read and unlike some new age books, easy to understand. It is worth reading and you can get some good deals on ebay.lightbodymark

Reviews:
This book needs to be read and re-read over and over again in order to keep us focused on what our real purpose on earth is. This world as we see it is a fantasy world. Not our home, not our destination. We are transient passersby and we should always have in mind the bigger picture – the Kingdom of God – as we live our lives. Chan makes it so clear and doable. A must read for those who are tired of living the same o same o earthly type of christianity.marcolb
If you are a Christian the Holy Spirit lives in you. This book reminds us of this, as well as how important He is. Dont leave Him out. He is, after all, one of the Trinity. A very good read.black-eyed-betty
A friend recommended this book to me, and I am happy to say that it was an excellent recommendation. The first thing that got my attention was in the Introduction. It read "If I were Satan and my ultimate goal was to thwart God's kingdom and purpose, one of my main strategies would be to get churchgoers to ignore the Holy Spirit". This book really held my interest; I couldn't put it down, and after I finished reading it, I read it again. I intend to keep on reading it over and over and in the meantime, I have truly found the Holy Spirit! I highly recommend this book.patcat227
